Oud Wood by Tom Ford stands for many things - timeless, reserved, mature and masculine - this fragrance has quickly risen to the the top of the private blend lineage for me even surpassing the likes of tobacco vanille and tuscan leather - Oud Wood is the real deal...
Tom Ford Oud Wood was released in 2007 as a part of the Tom Ford Private Blend Collection and is classified as an Oriental Woody fragrance containing woody, warm spicy, balsamic, oud & aromatic accords. NOTES include Oud, Cardamom, Pepper, Rosewood, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Amber, Vanilla, & Tonka Bean.
What can I say about Oud Wood.... It's probably the best signature scent that a man over the age of 30 could have - it has a quite confidence about it, and while the opening of creamy dense wet wood is somewhat strange, give it a chance to develop and it will dry up and reveal a spicy/sweet side.

This cologne acts like aventus in many wears where I become anosmic to the scent. I can smell it up to the skin yet everyone can smell it from 2-3 feet away. Even when my nose loses it , people can easily smell it. Pure class and sheer elegance.

Excellent review. I really enjoyed your thoughts and that this was shot outside. I do agree that this scent is for a more mature man. One of my coworkers wears this. He is in his fifties and is on the classy, reserved and yet stylish side. I would also agree that it is a fall-winter scent.

One thing I noticed is that most of the Oud fragrances I tried becomes very pleasant at the drydown and this drydown is what Oud Wood smells like from the start and then it gets better still. Love Oud Wood and your review is equally lovely, Brad.

I am not a big fan of oud & when o smelled it up close on my hand I didn’t give it much thought . Smelled it on a friend of mine a few weeks ago & it smelled amazing . Got a 10 ml decant now .

At first spray I didn’t smell anything ... i didn’t bother to keep sniffing and keep sniffing. 10 minutes later it came to me and I was shocked at how amazing it smelled.

I love your review of this fragrance, I am a "woman of a certain age" and I am blow away by this scent. In the beginning I wasn't sure what to think of it but I grew on me quickly and I love it! Your remark of how it reminds you of the smell of church pews is right on the money. it is a worn, familiar scent that Tom Ford captured into a bottle. Amazing!

Steve and Jim also both have uncommon backswings...Steve with his lack of hinge and Jim with his weird steepness, closing the angle on the downswing. I guess you could also include Matt Kuchar with his flat backswing for contrast - another man who gets the job done consistently. I'm right there with ya Brad. Although maybe Oud Wood belongs more on the Champions Tour LoL! Totally agree with the church pew analogy!

Totally. I remember seeing some of your earlier footage and your angles at impact seem fine. No need to make any major adjustments once you're comfortable and playing well. On a side note, I've been using a designated golf fragrance for years to "program" my unconscious mind to swing fluidly and consistently. How? Simply take a sniff every time you hit a great ball on the range (and feel great) and then just spray your shirt before hitting the course. With enough reinforcement, the mind automatically makes the association and your score drops without any effort. Kind of a cheat...but it worked for me! Just don't tell my boss...

The first time I smelled Oud Wood, I thought I have a bad batch or something. all I get is a one-dimensional smell. it reminded me of a piece of cheap soap from a discounter. just more intense, but basically it's the DNA of a non-perfumed piece of soap. if I really looking hard for anything else, I get a bit of woodiness and a tiny bit of spiciness, but 95% is soap. I think that scent is overhyped. not worth the price. I get 4 better scents for the price of 1 oud wood.

To get the job done? I own at least 100 fragrances that can do the job. Half of them for a price below 50 Euro's/ 100 ML. The other half below 30 Euros. When it comes to pricey fragrances like Oud Wood/Tobacco Vanilla etc, which I can buy for 30 ML for 85-130 Euros (100-155 Dollars) I expect more than getting the Job done. I don't have Oud Wood. I'm interested in it but have my serious doubts about it's performance. Tobacco Vanilla I do own since last X-mas. I find it quite disappointing for me, for I don't get much Tobacco and even the Vanilla is suppressed by Tonka. That kind of heavy sweetness I get from it, reminds me of S.T. Dupont. Noble Wood, Perfect Tobacco, Royal Amber and Vanilla Tobacco. The first 2 do the job better for me, for the price of 35-45 Euro's/100 ML. Better performance and scent. But Tobacco Vanilla at least does have a reasonable performance. Some people find Versace Oud Noir quite similar to Oud Wood. I own that one. The performance sucks. I now spray 10-12 sprays in order to get a bit of scent to my nostrils without needing to shuffle my backhands into my face. In terms of Oud, the one I like most is Oud Mosaic by Banana Republic, by far the cheapest I own. Great performance. Anyway, thanks for the review.
