the reason why this is so OP is because jans are already outpowering every unit early game, when you fast fortress what you are essentially doing is firstly making jans into absolute destroyers, ensuring enemy disturbance of eco and secondly ensuring your age advantage meaning that even if the enemy was to go up to the fortress age, they wouldnt be able to get their upgrades in time. OTTO FF IS LITERALLY AS OP AS CRUISSAIRES IF PLAYED CORRECTLY!

Ever since you launched this video, I have been facing Ottoman players doing this strategy non-stop. They even copied the Mamelukes. I finally figured out how to beat them, but it was a pain. Also, I could only do it as the French and with the sacrifice of my first town center.

Hey SamuraiRevolution. I played yesterday against someone who used this strategy. Thank God i had seen the Video and knew what was coming. I played aztecs and used a variant of the aztecs turtle strategy to counter it. It worked out excellently.

Great vid Sam, I do this a lot with Otto, yep, it's broken. Jan/falc early fortress is unstoppable.

Ottomans best faction, mained since the game first came out. My only real good match was jan rushing someone in age 2 on a small map. (I'm by no means a pro player.)

The Otto's were Nerfed because they were OP in the beginning. Virtually everyone runs with the Abus Gun, especially in team battles.

@@hckr_-gh7se Against an ottoman FF on deccan, you can FF yourself imo since you start with extra crates on the map. Walling the choke points will also buy you some time. If you are playing as a civ that also has a 2 falc shipment, send then and try to use good cannon micro to snipe the otto falcs without losing yours. Another option is to try to snipe the falcs with cav. Dragoons have multipliers against artillery. You can often get kill them with minimal losses. After the falcs are down the ottoman army is pure jan which is not very good. If you can't pick the falcs off, then wait until the ottomans are in your town and try to get a good unit pop, i.e. send in your army at the same time as a unit shipment is arriving and also send minute men/sentries. China's big mistake here was sending his army in small batches and wasting them, and also not having cav/arty. He also did not eco well early on as you can see from his very low score the whole game.

Instead of making 2 houses at the start, ottomans should make 1 house and 1 mosque (which is half a tp) or a market and buy 100 wood for a mosque.

Tbh your opponent's micro was really poor, but strategy is still solid! Guess it could be beaten using china with 5 meteor hammer ship and a lot of arquebusier. Also I'd like to mention recent tabben vs kynesie gameplay with same civs, but when BOTH players are pros.

An early mosque and a couple of the researches that increase pop spawning rate are much needed

If I were in China's shoes, I'd probably counter raid with the Riders, given you went all in aggro with no walls back home. Get some Meteor Hammers out someway to take care of the artillery, and a defensive fort from Russia so Mams aren't an issue. Granted, that's with the psychic powers to know exactly what you're planning, but it's a counter nonetheless. More realistically, I probably would've gotten a Castle up ASAP and spammed Flamethrowers, noticing you had way too many Jannies to *not* have a barracks and therefore no cav except the 4 Huss. Definitely somethig to keep an eye out for and anticipate a counter…in the wise words of Napoleon, "never tell the enemy your secrets" ;)

The map choice, civ, deck, and rank all have to do with it. He was not at a good start being against otto’s on Deccan, his game knowledge was probably not high enough to know how to counter, and the China civ itself is not easy to learn. People either suck or are ungodly good with them. Just remember that. I recommend watching pros play your best civ, for they not only have good strats, but face players with a fierce ranking. So in other words, it gives you a more realistic approach of what might happen if you face someone who’s skilled. You take this same strat and have him vs a high ranked Aztec player on say Yucatán, totally different outcome. Still doable though.

@@fbi6555 True, u can always expect many Jans when u play against ottos so 9 chu ko nus shipment is essential, plus 3 from summer palace plus three more trained from war academy would have annihilated those jans and u could use step riders to flank those cannons. Once you stop the initial push, you're pretty much ahead bc ottos vills train very slowly and u can use quiang pikemen to siege those tps.

Ha ya, I did the same thing.. named all my decks random names to make peaking harder. Just came back from a year or so break and now I’m some what lost w my decks lol

Awesome strat! My only question is how would you defend from an age 2 rush? Seems like there's a few minutes between age 2>3 that would make it very vulnerable to an early rush.

Call in minute men and have walls outposts set up just defense set up

Probably what I'd do to beat this is a fast Sioux rush with Boe and Axe rider to hit the Eco hard early, take down trade posts

Brutal rec, I'm curious what you think of using some wood to grab millet system fairly early? It's effectively 200 wood to get -5 seconds to villager spawn time.

I’ve mained Ottomans since the game came out

My first card in age 3 is allways spahi because u not must do barrack and this will be faster and more powerfull, age 2 units vs spahi are turbo-easy for them.

@@s.m.9285 i've no idea bout it, i bought them as cd years ago i don't know if they exist apart of it. But if u wait u can have it for cheap, like i got another version a month ago for 9.24 euros on humble bundle, that's cheaper than one of the dlcs as cd when i bought them ^^

I was considering picking this up and going on esco patch... how active is it exactly. I used to do silly strats all the time... ooo 10 years ago. On deck names? Super fun fun. Unfortunately in that case the cards being native focused gives it away.

Anexikhoz true... especially on Deccan their age Up could be just as fast, but eco would be lacking wouldn't it? Normally Dutch has a strong eco, but if you tried to force a fast fortress to keep up with this Otto FF, wouldn't you sacrifice settler production?

Nice video, but Deccan is not the best choice to present a regular ff due to its huge starting rrs

Ez for maderate try for expert or minimum Hard + 100% handi
