【About Asian Small-clawed Otters】
First, otters are different from sea otters.
Sea otters spend most of their time in the water, but otters can live both on the ground and in water.
A few years ago, trafficking otters became a serious problem, and in 2019, CITES (Washington Convention) increased the classification of otters from CITESⅡ to CITES I, which banned international trade.
Having an otter as a pet is illegal in most countries. However, in Japan, otters can be traded, although it is limited to domestic breeds only.
Currently, severe restrictions are in place for buying and selling otters in Japan. For example, microchips need to be inserted in both babies and parents, and owners need a special permit. Circumstances of birth must also be reported in detail.
As a result, there is currently no buying and selling of baby otters in the market. There is a severe penalty for selling and buying otters with unknown birth origins without permits. This was effective in eliminating trafficking, and we don’t see otter trafficking on the news anymore.
Kotaro and Hana were both born in Japan and have permits.
It is so much work to have an otter as a pet. You need to be ready for more than its cuteness. They are loud, and they sometimes bite you. Food and water get very expensive, and you cannot keep otters in cages because they are active. Also, we never leave them at home. We always look after them closely like we do with human children, and our top priority is always them.
If you want to have an otter as a pet, you must be able to follow the law and devote your life to it. If you don’t have that resolve, you should never have one as a pet.

Esas personas tienen bastante dinero para festejar un cumpleaños a la nutria, mejor dale el límenlo que le gusta y listo, hay que atender bien a los animales pero esto es una exageración, no son personas , más bien busca personas que no tienen que comer!!!!

As someone who doesn’t know a lot about otters, its mental to see that they can display concept of choosing/prioritising and sharing. Very intellectual animals!

I almost can't believe that Kotaro actually stopped eating so he could go call Hana to share the feast. That otter's a better person than most people.

My rabbits do the same thing thing I put food in the their bowl. Of the bunnies will see it and go tell the others before eating its so cute to see in person 😍

I love that he had to start first with one wet, one dry for his appetizer!
So cute how he politely looks at every dish with so much excitement before he eats anything at all. It's like you can see his appreciation for this surprise gift. That is just so adorable. And first he must go back upstairs and wake his girlfriend before the party can begin! He's a thoughtful otter!

To say that Mom and Dad go all out for Kotaro’s (and Hana’s) birthday is accurate but it’s not even nowhere near the most important thing. Many rich people give their children big and expensive but meaningless birthday parties. It’s like, “Here’s $10,000...go buy yourself a big birthday party” or they just pay for a big birthday party. If you looked at these birthday parties that Mom and Dad gave their fur babies they do it with so much thought, love and care. I wouldn’t be surprised if they spent the whole day preparing for Kotaro’s birthday party from doing the decorations, to the setups, and the food, etc. It’s simply beautiful and heartwarming to watch. Happy birthday little buddy Kotaro. 😊

初めて拝見しました。すっごく可愛いですね❤️あんなに人間っぽくご飯食べるんですねー。相棒を呼びに行ったり、階段だって椅子だってテーブルだってスイスイと。何より飼い主さんの心遣いが半端ないですね。ホテルのバイキングみたいです❤️

Фуршет удался, так трогательно, что Котаро пригласил Хану к угощению! И я впервые видела Хану, которая уже отказывается от еды! Переела!😂😂😂. Ну, и галстук красивый, очень идет Котаро! Поздравляю нашего чудесного мальчика!❤

Hahaha, I get all excited like that at buffets of my favorite foods too!!!! Kitaro is so careful about examining all of the foods in the beginning. He munches a bit then goes to get Miss Hana. Subscribed! I know someone who adores otters and I recently fell in love with them too. I've seen many videos of Kotaro and Hana - and the music just makes you feel so joyous to witness them. Seeing them play and be vocal will zap away any bad mood. Kotaro chewing on an otterbox phone case brings a smile to my face.
Kotaro went upstairs to call Hana to share his buffet and Hana knows and happily share the sushi with Kotaro. Wonderful feast from mom and dad. And no fighting from both otters, happily sharing the buffet feast.

да уж выдры конечно прикольные,но что бы их содержать нужны деньги и возможности,у нас в России ЛЮДИ не каждый день (кто то 1 раз в месяц или реже) едят рыбу не то что животные (любая рыба здесь очень дорогая)...
