Back in the day this is what we called getting hustled. Should've let him keep the bottle for a better race.

The debates about domestic vs. Import rage on. Hasn't changed in years. The problem with these is that there are so many different divisions. These cars at the strip would never be placed in the same divisions. So many variables to consider. Weight, motor size, functional tailights and other components. The mustang guy should have realized that this car was not in the same class. Hats off to the Honda guy for his dedication to building a race car like this. Love to see it.

Man first off if the stang is tuned for Nitrous that means his timing has to be delayed, and torque converter is set up for nitrous, so since he isn't using his nitrous he should've at least adjust his timing, and changed his torque converter before he even went there if he knew he was gonna run without nitrous....

compared to a gutted ricer, it is heavy as hell. that honda has nothing inside but a drivers seat, steering wheel, and a gas pedal, (i know there is a little more, just making a point) while that fox body (which started marginally heavier) still has a back seat, passenger seat, interior, roof liner, door panels, stereo, probably a spare tire and a jack. that honda showed up on a trailer and even the back tires have been replaced with super skinny tires to save on weight. it's like no, she's not fat, she wears a size 4. but then you put her next to a size 0 and suddenly she looks a little fluffy

all these comments are like HURR ANOTHER HONDA WIN as if this is a normal thing. you can build anything to beat anything if you want to spend the money and destroy the reliability of a vehicle, but the fact is that if you take 100% of V8 mustangs and 99% of honda civics that are driving around the roads right now... the mustang wins. i've had an '89 5.0, '95 5.0, and now a '99 4.6 all with just bolt-ons and a tune and i've never even had a close race with a honda. the videos like this that you see on youtube are aberrations. this mustang seems to be a bolt-on, probably well under 300 bhp vs a full blown racecar civic.

Manny561 Not the 96-98 4.6s, but the 99-04 with bolt-ons and tune will run mid 13s easily. 05-10 are even better. you anywhere near st louis? we can line em up. :) ...unless you're turbo'd or some shit, i'm talking about versus stock and lightly modded hondas which are the majority of what you run into on the street.

Working lights or proper tags doesn't determine win/lose. I prefer to be ahead of the guy in a race, who cares if my lights work, or if I don't have a cup holder installed or a working cigarette lighter. On a track, all you need is a seat, proper windows, no leaks and a helmet(depending on speed/times). On the streets all you need is to not get caught. Racings racing. If you want to race a car that primarily gets trailered, I'd choose my fights wisely. In this case, someone's daily driver picked the wrong fight.

in my option the civic lost, if you cant drive it normally and have to tow the dam thing everywhere its not a car its a one off.

Jorddy Sanchez if both were on trailers (even tho no tailer was shown for the stang and the driver stated it was a street car) yet the stang has a tag and lights, civic gutted no tag no lights with an obvious trailered (fallows him out of the lot) and not to mention the civic driver complaining about spray like its life or death the dam civic is obviously lighter wtf will it matter to have spray on the heavier stang. The civic literally setup the stang to lose because he wanted to win with his one off civic, so he pulled everything to make sure the stang cant win. The civic lost simple as that pussy one off is what it was.

BD Pershing Reasons to trailer? 1. Hi-pro clutch/torque converter makes the stop/go city traffic very difficult to drive in. 2. High horsepower deserves high-octane which is highly costly. 3. The radiators and oil/transmission coolers wouldn't be getting enough air to cool the constantly idling beast. I trust my leaded 110 in fuel-cells which are smaller than OEM. Mine is 5gal, car gets about 6mpg, range = 30miles. The 5gal of leaded 110 roughly $60, Id rather trailer the car then pay over $120 in fuel for one night, honestly.

Les Rave there we go a good all around answer why to trailor and makes a good point. Still doesnt change my opinion that a car who can drive to the race and leave the same way as the better street racing setup to me trailoring just does not give the same meaning to street racing, and what les said proves my point of a trailored car is a one off it cant go to the track, cant go on a bull run or a nightly drive, and be driven daily if needed. It fails the funtion of a sports car and of a true street racing vehicle.

Z-Rek True. Also, although there is a point when vehicle performance is important, it's not the car, it's the driver. I could beat some people in a common sedan like my stock 03 civic based on skill alone. And there are probably people that could smoke me in a camry. I prefer imports, some prefer muscle. Each has their finer points. I respect all cars. I have a distast for Mustangs, but hey, if the Stang beat the Civic, so be it. It's racing. Just gotta enjoy it and respect the other drivers. Every driver and every car has it's own strengths and weaknesses. People need to learn that.

that's about the stupidest race that i'd ever seen! The Impork is a full all out race car. It is full gutted, lexan windows, weighs about 500 to 800 lbs lighter. The Mustang should have been on NOS. That would have been a fare race. I guess us Ford guy's have to give one to the IMPORKERS every now and then. Make the IMPORKS FEEL LIKE THEY BELONG!

hellaflush my honda i hate mustang...but i cant stand vtec fanboys worse than mustang.... dude...everyone can build a N/A i4 1.7l 400hp engine like vtec even without valve management and still crush vtec , all it need its the correct bore and stroke and billet crankshaft , i beam steel conrod and forge piston and some more correct parts and you will get a peformance of a monster faster than a vtec , also whats wrong with you vtec fanboys , vtec is only a vvt like others , except its louder , even a nissan VVEL can do the same without much of a engine noise
