(5-14-19) Here is a ride on the famous glass elevator at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta! They have put card readers in the main elevators, but the nice staff at the Polaris restaurant have let us take a ride! CONNECT WITH ME!

I really like the Hyatt Regency hotel!
If I can recall correctly; these elevators date ALL THE WAY back to 1967, so they are actually over 50-years-old! I believe they were originally either Otis Autotronic with circle-touch buttons, or Westinghouse Selectomatic Mark IV... BTW... A little fun fact: Did you know that this hotel was one of John Portman Junior's (one of my most favorite architects of all time) very first--if not; his VERY FIRST building he EVER designed!? Also believe it or not; he also designed two (or actually three) other famous and iconic hotels in Atlanta: The Hilton and of course, its' nextdoor neighbor, the Marriott Marquis ATL! Same thing with the Westin Peachtree Center. He was known for making awesome sort-of "sci-fi futuristic" hotels and buildings with HUGE-A** atriums, and this one happens to be his very first atrium hotel he ever designed!
Oh they changed the floor passing chime as they are not the same as the one in 1993
I remember being stranded in the middle of Downtown Atlanta waiting for 12 hours for my long Greyhound journey home. I came across this hotel accidentally while exploring the Peach Tree Center area. I went inside and was like "Hmm, this place looks like every other hotel I've been to with a massive atrium". Little did I know, the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta was >THE< hotel with a huge atrium. They started that trend!
Those high rise glass elevators are my favorite especially Otises

I love them.
1:50 I didn't even know that the Marriott Marquis was so-close, or even nextdoor to the Hyatt Regency! After all... They do call this the John Portman complex I believe.
This is the hotel I stayed at that one night I missed my connection to Fort Lauderdale.

Fun fact: the first Hyatt was a LAX airport hotel.
Otis Elevonic 405 scenic elevators are fast in the Hyatt Hotel/Hyatt Regency.
It used to be that you could take a ride up to 21 but now you can’t go anywhere
There is a 23rd floor button, and a 24th floor button on this elevator! 😍

Apparently it;s now locked between 9PM-5AM I saw on Windy City elevators videos, here was there after 9 so it was locked then.
Why we’re all the main elevators keycarded off in 2019?
