Otis Gibbs -Ghosts Of Our Fathers (Official Video)

Музыка

This is from my album, Souvenirs Of A Misspent Youth. I just recently (May 2020) started uploading a lot of new stuff to this channel and I've been making an effort to visit the comment sections more often. All apologies for not doing so sooner, I was busy hanging out with my dog on the porch. I'm sure you know how it is. Please feel free to Subscribe, Comment and like and I'll do my best to be a good neighbor.
Thanks for giving a damn,

Yep man, there's an authenticity in every word and note that shines through and reaches the heart. Stumbled upon Otis as he was talking in a video about his first $250 Les Paul and went from there.

I can’t listen to this one without tears. How many children? How many families on both sides? And now Ukrainian families and Russian children? How many families are grieving from war after war, burying their children yesterday and today?

My father died from Parkinson's disease five years ago he would have been 82 yesterday shortly before the dementia completely took over about a year before he died we were talking after dinner and he was having a rare lucid moment he looked me straight in the eye and said what's gonna happen to me I didnt know what to say to the man that taught me every damn thing I know I finally looked at him and I said you are going to die just like everyone else but the price you pay for living is dying and you are the most honorable person I ever met you will be missed I told him I wasnt going anywhere he looked at me and nodded I have thought a lot since then about what the proper response to a question like that was and I still dont know

Otis. You are my latest discovery. Only took me 50 years. Grew up watching Townes, Jerry Jeff and Guy Clark in Houston coffee places and later in bars. Incredible music and well told stories about my folky heroes. Keep it up.

When I got the CD Souvenirs Of A Misspent Youth in 2014, the song that I was already aware of was Ghosts Of Our Fathers. It moved me then, it moves me still to this day when I play the disc and it moves me when I watch this video. I am 65 at the time of this posting, December 2020, and a Canadian not personally affected by war in the 60's and 70's. I get teared up with the images that Otis creates in my thoughts and in my heart with the underlying thread in this song...

Indeed, I have been following his story channel for about three months. Was listen to one of Todd Snider's live shows posted here on Utube, When up Otis popped and title said something like "Todd Snider on mushrooms interview", well could not pass this up. Otis came across as a genuine person so, I subbed. He refers to touring with other musicians so, it was a given he made music. Not till now have I heard anything he's recorded. This was a pretty heavy tune with powerful lyrics. Not surprising considering how he comes across on his story channel. What's got me is "why" is this the first time I'm getting the chance to hear such a talented musician? Another new fan here.

Happy Anniversary Otisand better half. Enjoy your day. Been watching your features for some time now. You are great. Take the day off. I give you my father's last words to me: "All we have is each other and today. Tomorrow, all bets are off. First thing I think of in the morning, and last thing at night.
