Otis Gibbs -Ghosts Of Our Fathers (Official Video)
Музыка
This is from my album, Souvenirs Of A Misspent Youth. I just recently (May 2020) started uploading a lot of new stuff to this channel and I've been making an effort to visit the comment sections more often. All apologies for not doing so sooner, I was busy hanging out with my dog on the porch. I'm sure you know how it is. Please feel free to Subscribe, Comment and like and I'll do my best to be a good neighbor.
Thanks for giving a damn,
-Otis

As a Gold Star Dad, I understand "How to carry on, when the hardest punch is thrown" - Incredible song.

I'm sorry for that punch my brother.
I really don't think there is a better singer song writer I've found in the last 15 years. He's a pretty good human being too.

Yep man, there's an authenticity in every word and note that shines through and reaches the heart. Stumbled upon Otis as he was talking in a video about his first $250 Les Paul and went from there.

I can’t listen to this one without tears. How many children? How many families on both sides? And now Ukrainian families and Russian children? How many families are grieving from war after war, burying their children yesterday and today?
My father died from Parkinson's disease five years ago he would have been 82 yesterday shortly before the dementia completely took over about a year before he died we were talking after dinner and he was having a rare lucid moment he looked me straight in the eye and said what's gonna happen to me I didnt know what to say to the man that taught me every damn thing I know I finally looked at him and I said you are going to die just like everyone else but the price you pay for living is dying and you are the most honorable person I ever met you will be missed I told him I wasnt going anywhere he looked at me and nodded I have thought a lot since then about what the proper response to a question like that was and I still dont know
Otis. You are my latest discovery. Only took me 50 years. Grew up watching Townes, Jerry Jeff and Guy Clark in Houston coffee places and later in bars. Incredible music and well told stories about my folky heroes. Keep it up.
miss my dad rite now.
I felt that today 4/10/21 my dad has been gone now 9 years. A truck driving man and a Gypsy soul for 38 years keeping America 🇺🇸 up and running. Thanks for the tune.
This guy is so good at writing I can’t find enough of his music
Otis Gibbs has got to be the real "most interesting man in the world", I recently discovered him on social media the on his podcast "Thanks For Giving a Damn", if you haven't subscribed to his podcast go do it now, it is amazing, he interviews the most amazing people in the music industry!! Thanks Otis, for keeping music alive

Thanks Otis keep the tunes coming God bless from your friends in Ohio
As a 'nam vet 'n' '65 H. S. Grad, saw two of my classmates on that Wall.
When I got the CD Souvenirs Of A Misspent Youth in 2014, the song that I was already aware of was Ghosts Of Our Fathers. It moved me then, it moves me still to this day when I play the disc and it moves me when I watch this video. I am 65 at the time of this posting, December 2020, and a Canadian not personally affected by war in the 60's and 70's. I get teared up with the images that Otis creates in my thoughts and in my heart with the underlying thread in this song...
I'm sorry to say this is the first time today day I've heard of you and heard you sing and you are great where in the world have I been, and I love the stories you tell about great people in the music you have a new fan thanks

Indeed, I have been following his story channel for about three months. Was listen to one of Todd Snider's live shows posted here on Utube, When up Otis popped and title said something like "Todd Snider on mushrooms interview", well could not pass this up. Otis came across as a genuine person so, I subbed. He refers to touring with other musicians so, it was a given he made music. Not till now have I heard anything he's recorded. This was a pretty heavy tune with powerful lyrics. Not surprising considering how he comes across on his story channel. What's got me is "why" is this the first time I'm getting the chance to hear such a talented musician? Another new fan here.
I've always been a sucker for a father song, This is one of the best!

Otis, u are one of the last sentries. Guarding the Gate. Holding it together for all of us lost Folkies looking for a toehold. Thank you.🛤️🎼💜
Happy Anniversary Otisand better half. Enjoy your day. Been watching your features for some time now. You are great. Take the day off. I give you my father's last words to me: "All we have is each other and today. Tomorrow, all bets are off. First thing I think of in the morning, and last thing at night. My wife has been tolerating me since 1980. Go have some pie and do whatever she wants to do with a smile on your face.
Otis, I love listening to your interviews & being turned on to other musicians telling stories of The Life but, this takes my admiration to a higher level. Every once in a while a song takes you on a trip that you didn't expect or even ask for, this is one of those rare moments. I thank you
Otis , that song made me call my own dad , who god knows i dont know how he put up with all the foolishnes i went thru , i really luv that song , god bless you otis , utah johnny .
Well, damn. Where have I been. Never heard of Gibbs before. Just listened to this and My Darker Side in the last few minutes. Why haven't I heard of this guy before. Amazing artist. Immediately captivated me and drew me in to both songs/stories. Powerful songs that speak to me. Thank you. I know you who you are now.
damn!!! I am recently just discovering this guy! I'm thoroughly blown away!!!! Mr. otis gibbs, your music and storytelling is an inspiration in general but specifically to a singer/songwriter such as myself just starting to really give it a go! it would be an absolute honor and privilege to hang out with you one day just swapping stories and songs!
Otis that song really touched me. You really hit the old harp strings and I had the old lump in the throat as memories sprang up and spilled out a portrait of the younger me and my own dear old dad. Thank you man; that's real song writing.
Otis I wish you and Amy all the peace and happiness your songs long for.

Hey Otis! "Ghost of our Fathers" is a great song and the first song of yours I ever heard (on South Dakota Public Radio "On Record." I immediately downloaded it. Lately, I've seen alot of your videos. Appreciate your stories, attitude, good-natured down-to-earth wit, and general real coolness. You've live a good life. I'm out here in the sticks now, don't get around much anymore, but hope to see you sometime in Sioux Falls, Minneapolis or K.C where I'l bring some friends! Keep on truckin' and best wishes to ya.
