I was just thinking they've become like The Avengers of post-hardcore lol. Every single member of the band pursued other interests and grew as individual artists in their own right during the time apart. So now when they come back together they all bring so much more to the table individually to create an amazing collaboration.

Hearing Dallas talk about how the vocals have defined this band, and how they're moving forward (it would be awesome to hear George's take, too), answered a lot of questions I think many fans have wondered. The fanbase has definitely been split when it comes to what you like about AoF, but for me and I'm sure plenty of other folk, it's an amalgamation of it all. And that's why we're so fucking passionate. I will say; more Black Lungs please.

The label that released their last album before the break up, and told her I can't wait for their next album, since they just got back together in 2015. This is my favorite song on the album and I'm not at all ashamed that the song made me weep the first time I heard it. It resonates really strongly for me. A dear friend I lost many years ago once told me that the reason I meant so much to her was that was one of the few people in her life that always loved her as she was, even when she couldn't see past her failures and the pain she lived with. It was a time in my life where I was struggling with a lot of demons as well. I lost a lot of people over the year and a half before and had missed most of their funerals because I was in Iraq. I had finally started to unpack and process 2 years of pent up trauma and grief. We leaned on each other a lot after I came home. She also struggled with mental health and had become an addict. I asked her if she wanted help and offered to take her to rehab, because I was scared that I couldn't strong enough to be the friend she needed at the time because of what I was dealing with and how chaotic my work schedule was back then. She said she would think about it, but I never heard back from her. The next day I had to leave town for a few weeks for work and that night was the last time I ever saw her. She overdosed and passed away 3 days later. Getting that phone call from my mom and finding out she was gone was one of the worst days of my life and left a scar that took years to heal. Chelsy would have loved this song, too.

This song is an explosion of everything Alexis has amounted to since they were boys playing on Much Music. Its bitter sweet because I so look forward to the album but I also know this may very well be their final album considering their all aging and recoding and touring will be more and more difficult to coordinate. Fuck it, enjoy it today, tomorrow and for as long as you can, that's the Alexis way!
