The butter that's giving you trouble is not something they're producing, but the things they brought with them at the start. They will only "produce" stuff from their garden in the autumn

Ostriv is a great game, which unfortunately I can't play, but I'm watching it since version 3 came out. You'll need a granary so the people can sell their homegrown produce to the town and then it can be sold to all the other settlers through the market stalls.

Neat, I was deciding between Farthest Frontier, and Ostriv and I think one other, like nord or something (seems like a lot since I last looked, just stayed with Banished all this time). I went Farthest Frontier, but I think this is next.

I'll be really interested in how they handle the 'wages required to buy things' economy over the traditional anarcho-communist approach most city builders use. The only other instance I know of a developer trying this was in Dwarf Fortress whereby after a certain fortress wealth, you would switch to a wage system where dwarfs needed to pay rent, buy food, etc. However, this was removed because every dwarf would eventually become poor, homeless, and stop working because they would starve, except for a few who would remain rich. Soooo...maybe a bit too real lol.

Salo is basically pork fat. A staple in the rural Ukrainian diet. Like bacon but less meaty.

@@TacticatGaming I've never had it, personally, but I have a close friend who grew up in a Ukrainian village and she's talked about it. I'm guessing, like all fatty food, the first couple bites are the best.

@@TacticatGamingI'm not agree with @crai-crai about this is 'rural Ukrainian diet'. Yes it roots came from vilages but it is loved in cities also. About taste, it's of course depend on personal preference. Salo (pork fat) mostly prepared in one of two ways: salted with black pepper or smoked. It is served sliced on bread ( mostly rye bread ). When i was little i didn't get it. Like "why do grown ups eat it?". Now i figure it out :) it is nutritious and taisty (i mostly like salted with pepper). Also you can fry it on pan as a bekon until it become crusty and super tasty, we called it Шкварки (Skvarky)

They are not Russians, they have Ukrainian names, the game is called Ostriv from ukrainian "island" + has typical Ukrainian architecture, malorussia is an imperial and chauvinistic name for Ukraine. Please don't think it is the same.

I really don't like the economy. You are paying the wages for everybody - so you are the employer? At the same time you sell the goods and set taxes. Sounds like an oligarch system to me.
