Thanks for all you do to make this game more understandable in the little things that need to be done. With all the updates it will be nice to see them as you progress through this guide.

One small thing about the campfire at the start of the game, it’s not just there because it looks cute and is the focus for socialising and rest. While the villagers live in tents, the campfire is where they cook their food. You will see it burning and people using it until the last of those initial 9 houses are built. After that they stop lighting it, which I feel is a slight shame that they don’t continue to light it as they sit around it, but I suppose it saves on firewood and allows you to demolish it to create a town centre/town square there if you wish. But in the beginning it’s not completely useless.

Thank you @Jatzette ! I have to say Yes and No to your comment. Yes it looks cute and it lights up etc. But in the end. It serves no other purpose then cosmetics. You can place your camp, delete the sitting logs and campfire and nothing changes. The firewood intake won't change, they will eat, they will stay warm. I do agree it is a very nice place and I really wish the campfire but also the sitting logs were in the game as decorations so we can place them ourselves to. Nut purely from a game-mechanic standpoint they serve no purpose. I have actually tested this quite recent because I wanted to see if it actually did something.

Me too! It is still in the work, but real life has been interfering with my KZread work last weeks. Hopefully I have some more time on my hands now(should be so) and then I will also continue working on part 2!

You could have placed the charcoal piles right at the start, so workers would fill them as firewood becomes available. That way, by the time the smithy goes live you already have charcoal available. I found 4 to 5 piles a good number, as charcoal is also a very good early tender when starting to trade with other towns.

True! And I would normally do that as well. But since this is a beginners guide I try to keep things more separate to not make things more complicated or mixed up. Of course there are a lot of choices I made for this video then can be done different. And I a lot of different options can work just as well as what I did. This is what I went for with this guide though.

Hi. Nice video. I liked that you focused on the processes. Im looking forward to the next ones. Im particularly wondering about keeping the labours numbers up so things get done, and how many cowsheds per dairy etc. It might be nice to focus your guides on transport or animals and their product chains. How many wagon yards per stables, and what happens to old horses. Lots of questions i have. I will have to wait enthusiastically for more videos in this series. Thanks.

Thank you very much! Putting a lot of effort in these video's. Transportation is on the plan for the next episode. Still planning it all out and then I will record it. Should be up in 1 or 2 weeks I hope.

I love your Ostriv videos! If you ever want to do a collaboration let me know! I'm happy help check your numbers and to cross check your tips and tricks. I'm not ashamed to say that I have over 1,000 hours on the game. There's also a bunch of little mechanical features that make the game more enjoyable that most people don't know about.

Great to see you start a new guide! I'm sure it will be super helpful for people just starting the game. With all the other games I have been playing lately I haven't played much Ostriv.. honestly I have been a little discouraged because I am having trouble with map 3. I think I may be experiencing bugs too. I'm thinking about starting over on it to see if anything changes. Every time I watch you play I remember that it is indeed my first love...and I want to play again, haha. I think I'll try a new town later today. Thanks for the great start.. and for reminding me how much I do love this game 🥰

Thank you very much! And you are right, Somehow map 3 is more buggy then others. I have no clue why that is, but game seems to crash on it more often. Have not seen a specific fix for all problems yet, so could be an idea to start on another map until some new patches come out. Or try map 3. There was one new patch a while ago for map 3, but I don't believe it fixed all problems. Enjoy the great game!
