This day we travelled to Ingersoll and then to St Thomas, Ontario to watch for the Ontario Southland Railway (OSR) .
Watch as OSR units work the CNR Yard in St Thomas, including many trips onto the long Kettle Creek viaduct which is used at times by CN, OSR and GIO as necessary headroom during yard movements.

OSR 1210 GMD SW1200RS ex-CP 8112 (SW1200RS)
On this day we also saw GIO Railway working the CN Yard in St Thomas before the OSR made an appearance.
If you did not see that GIO action please look at our previous video • ONTARIO SOUTHLAND AND ... .

Good morning to you Dave. Thank you , and it may be the one of the more scenic head room leads out there. Kindest regards to you all at SSRP. I hope that you have a great weekend. Here in Ontario it is windy and wet - not great for filming or just watching. James.

Hello James. B. Thank you for your most kind words. I am so glad that you enjoyed this one. You know when I reviewed the raw ground footage for this day when I got home I thought, gee looks just like so many small town yards. But when I saw the aerials of the viaduct surrounded by the forest, well it became so different. I am already thinking of going back there this summer. James S.

Good morning James, great video of the little railway with your freight traffic. The perspective from the air is great, as the train almost disappears between the green trees and then sits back on the bridge to distribute the wagons. I enjoyed watching the video. I wish you a nice Sunday and best wishes Wolfgang

Guten Sonntagmorgen Dir Wolfgang.

James.

Hi Bruce. Thank you very much. I think that you would enjoy the action at St Thomas. On top of the three railroads that I am aware of that operate there at times (CN, OSR, GIO), there is also the large railway museum (Elgin County Railway Museum). For you I think the travel time to St. Thomas is reasonable. I don't think that the museum is open yet for the season. James.

@@FrogandFlangeVideo thanks, will go have a look. Great inspiration for a model train switching layout, and find a way to include the trestle tail track and suggest the soccer fields even? Already have a Rapido OSR Rs18u. Cheers!

@@1romcat I agree - it would provide good inspiration for modelling. OSR is not the only railroad servicing St Thomas, however. And they too might give you some good ideas for modelling. For example CN services the vehicle frame factory there in the east side of town. I think that this company has a yard which could be interesting. Also, the OSR shops located a few miles away at Salford have a number of vintage locos sitting around, plus other RR paraphenalia in the yard which might be cool to model. Good luck. James.

@@1romcat If you are in St Thomas to have a look see, I suggest that you go by the Elgin County Railway Museum which is the huge shops there. I have not been there yet, but it is on my list for this summer. Check their hours before going. James.
