I'm not a Norwegian speaker, but I remember those awful days. And, I'm deeply touched by this speech - for the King's demeanor & for a sense of kinship: it was easy for this English speaker to understand 'Long live King Harold'. The words in either language are entirely appropriate, & so close, for a grandson of a British princess & your king. In our way: God Save The King!
His Majesty's speech is heart moving, heart breaking and always brings the emotions out. Long Live King Harald.
For kongen og fedreland. Til dovre faller. Alt for Norge!

Nobody gives a shit about him outside troll land!
Yes, my friend. He has the heart of a king and the soul of a commoner. This gives him the ability to connect and empathize with his people. Certain other monarchies could learn a lot from this great man!
Stolt av monarkier vårt. Stolt av å være norsk. Stolt over at Harald er vår Konge! Lenge leve kongen!
When i first watched this, last year, i cried, even i watched it without english subtitles. I'm Greek, and i'm proud that i'm a monarchist all the 39 years of my life.
Leve Kong Harald!

What an inspiring and moving speech. A fine man, and an admirable King.

King's speech, I will forever remember. His tears for the people makes me proud to be Norwegian. It is the love we showed in retrospect, we should remember the best and take care of. Let it be stronger than fear. Allow it to win over evil!
This, this is one of the main reasons why I support our monarchy. A non-political figurehead we can gather around. Even if they don't want to, politicians will be politicians. A political figurehead can't speak from the heart, as they always feel insecure in their positions. A non-political figurehead can empathize, feel and cry.. they can be human. We've been lucky, true, with our royals. They do not think their inherited positions are something to enjoy, but they feel that it's a duty to serve. I don't really agree with the, "I am against a monarchy on principle" as there are few absolute monarchies left, and this is not one of them. Compare this with President Trump's reaction to nazis marching in his country. He doesn't want to upset his base. As our king lists the reasons he feels the pain, he cries when he utters "As this country's king, I feel with every one of you." For king and country.
This is my king, I have great respect and is very proud of, LONG LIVE THE KING.
When he crying for this speak, that is most powerful
Thanks for uploading this.
Peace to Norway from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA. We really respect Harald and Sonja.
Love and Support From Germany :)

@ DJSKELLY YOLO A sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU!!!
THAT is what a King should be like
He had so much dignity and aplomb.
If you are wondering about the none English part. The world feels your pain Norway, Iceland feels your pain, but ultimately it is your strength that will conquer hate.
He's an exemplary monarch who, rather than being haughty, aloof and insensitive to others, clearly feels his subjects' pain and offers his unconditional support. Long live King Harald V!!
I remember, i can't stop crying. We are strong, I can't imagine , i don't have words, you have feel whati want to say. Norway my sweat and blood is yours.
"ALL FOR NORWAY" Lots of love from Fiji, South Pacific.
The King in the North!
Bare ekte konger gråter i slike situasjoner! LENGE LEVE KONGEN!
Seems to me the Norwegian king has a power beyond the comprehension of a hater's mind. A power given to him by the people.
We have a king that truly describes the title. I love my country
That is a king, as a descendant of the Norse kings of yore, I hold him in equal regard with the great kings Hardraada, Canute, Fairhair etc. He cries for his people, and shares in the suffering, but strives to guide and unite them nonetheless. Long Live King Harald.
Lenge leve konge! Alt for Norge!
We have the most wonderful king in the world. I am so proud! 7 months since th tragedy - my heart breaks a little more every day..

Long live the King!
Fine upload. Very moving. Harald is not as gorgeous as his lovely Dad, but he has been a fine example for his land.
I bet you Norwegians love your King very much - I would ... He cried at an official ceremony, I have never seen, say, Elizabeth II cry... My sister got a family photo from Him once - she naively asked (as a child) for an autograph; of course she couldn't get any, but he had her being sent a photo, and not an official one.

That’s so sweet. He has a pure heart.
Tried the caption button and didnt get the subtitles in English...wouldn't work..anyways as much as i did n't understand Norwegian becuase i dont speak it, I thought the king did an awesome job addressing his people..You have to remember he hasn't been in the greatest of health in recent years..He even got upset up there as he was speaking...very humble, shows he's human and he cares....Right on Konge Harald...You're an awesome man...:)

It is Harald's 9th of april moment. And he has passed with flying colours.
Länge leve Kung Harald!
En stor man. Var stolta over eran konung.
ok, thanks
I said that he is a fine man!
Great speech. Norway is lucky to have king Harald
Perhaps our norwegian of the farms isn't apt for correct use. (I do not write the language well.) What you had posted I said was to me completely correct in your thoughts. I don't know why you erased it; I thought you expressed it very well.
IF ONE MAN CAN SHOW SO MUCH HATE, THINK OF AL THE LOVE WE CAN SHARE TOGETHERE!!
Thanks I did that.
what an amazing king we have :)
Long live the King of Norway
Parabéns pelo dia da majestade
Long live our King!
I got the bomb in my face, I saw so much i didnt wanna see. But i didnt cry before my king did this speach. Then I could not hold back my tears anymore. Long live Harald V.
Lenge leve Harald V.
I agree!
What did he say?
where is english subtitles? aaan
i fucking love my king
Konge Harald is much more than a titular monarch. He very aptly embodies and seeks to embody "The best" of the people of Norway. A wealthy and privileged man to be sure, but who bears not only the finery of privlege but Much misery of seeking always the best course for his country and people. He brings up the best of norske resilience and true faith most aptly in a moment such as this; the tabloid criticisms of Monarchy show little of his real role. THIS is what it means to be King, his pain.
@Gognithiuiis England was our ally in ww2. As for Germany, we sunk one of their biggest ships, the Blücher. Also sunk the boat carrying heavy water hindering the build of their nuclear bomb. Know your history.
Great Harald! My Norwegian friends and neighbours have an enviable king. England.
Lenge leve Kongen Harald V!

King actually. King Harald the fifth.
lenge leve Kong Harald :)
This is mostly for Americans who wanted to know the speech was given by the King.
Sir Francis Henry Laking was an English physician
Lenge leve hans majestet kong Harald.
fina harald! god kung!
Leve gode kongen vår
Shaman for King!
If any norwegian think a president could do the same job as the monarchy for less money, I hope they'll find remorse in the public apperances the royal family does.
@Gaskovichs He does have a job you know. His job is to repressent norway. Kinda like a president. But the difference from a president is, that a king can speak for the entire country. Because a king does not have any official political viewes. unlike a president who can only speak for those who have voted for him. He dedicates his entire life to this job, and he is an stronghold through an entire lifetime. We in norway have chosen to have a king. And we are still doing VERY well.
@banitka72 we love our king very much, there is very few national leaders that will take the public train to an Olympic game ( he did twice !!! ) he is a leader of the people from the people with the people...
I guess I don't get the reason he is involved in Harald's looks??
@Gaskovichs You got it all wrong. We dont work for the King, the King works for us. Unlike a politician that gets to hes position of power mainly by the backing of hes party and which he, regardless of claiming otherwise publicly, is the most loyal to. The King is payed for by every citizen and hes loyalty is purely to the people. Hes a super diplomat trained from the age of 0 to represent Norway. Everyone knows the King and only a none political figure can really unit a nation.
monarchy any day
Aw!
Harald is the grandson on his mother's side of Ingeborg of Denmark and Carl of Sweden. On his father's side Haakon of Norway (originally Carl of Denmark) and Maud, Princess of Wales. Artificial insemination in 1902 Yeah, right. What about the Girls?
lenge leve kongen, hurra til norge
Lenge leve Kongen!
Harald is his grandson
