Doesn't the word Objection! exist in South-African court? The defense lawyer keeps on battering the witnesses, making assumptions and voicing his opinions and no objection is ever made??

Veronica Roos Sociopaths do not function like normal people, so attempting to form logical reasons for their actions is fruitless. Perhaps he genuinely screamed in horror after he 'snapped' or perhaps he planned the "home intruder" defense when she started screaming, or perhaps he was mocking her . Why do you find any of these options strange when the actual facts of the case are insane anyway? The entire situation is not normal because Pistorius is not a normal person. He killed his girlfriend by shooting her four times. Once you wake up to that fact, you will realise he is capable of anything, including lying to save his own ass. You think he's the first murderer to plead "not guilty" or to taunt his victim if that's what he did? They think they're invincible.

Well said ! you are absolutely correct on all points .Personally I think it makes more sense that he was in fact taunting and mocking her cries for help He was heard calling for help AFTER her cries for help Only when she was dead did the reality that he had murdered her come crashing down on him ... only then did he snap out of his sociopathic rage He has no remorse for murdering that girl only for himself and the situation he now finds himself in

Very simple , they argued, he threatened he with the gun she ran in the bathroom lock herself inside, he told her to open the door or else I will shoot.. she scream and he shot out of rage. This didn’t happened on a different floor but in a bedroom with an adjacent bathroom. Guilty the maximum

    1. How does Roux know Reeva was not outside the toilet cube when she screamed? She could have rushed in last second realisng what Pistorius was thinking and about to do. Her screams would have been very audible Mr Roux. 2. Why does Roux think it odd Pistorius would scream? He has no legs and there may have been a struggle between he and Reeva he felt he was going to lose and being allegedly trigger happy himself assumed he may get shot, that would be a reason for him screaming. Is that something you have considered Mr Roux? No? Why? Could it be because you are being paid by Mr Pistorius? Reeva didn't shoot him so he took advantage and shot her? Roux talks like his view is fact but the real fact is he's put foward a defence case based on his own irrelevant opnion. The witnesses were actually there, he was not.

How can we know the toilet window was closed when RS was screaming for help? If she had locked herself in the toilet to escape OS and needed help it would make sense to scream for help through the window. This could have angered OS further causing him to mock her cries for help and then shoot through the door. The police found the toilet window closed, but if RS screaming through the window was the reason he shot her, then OS could have closed the window before the police arrived.

Iazzaboyce I think you are very correct in your view in how it could have happened if OP did kill her intentionally - and to be honest everything whatt we know until now imo points toward this. The mocking of the help cries makes sense to me, otherwise it would be indeed odd if he cried for help too while attacking her.

"That cannot be" - it could only be that Johnson heard the door being banged down. No inference that the time call made by Pistorius so close to Johnsons could mean that Pistorius is lying about events. Patronising, wow. I know he is doing his job but it is totaly obvious that he is desperately working to establish that the witness is unreliable when his client might be lying his butt off.

This Defense Attorney chewed up this man today. But regardless people can tell the difference between a gunshot to a bat hitting a door... Especially South Africans! This isn't a jury trial it will be interesting to see if the judge believes the witnesses, or buys the defense argument. This lawyer is gonna play audio to see if witnesses can tell the difference. But sound travels differently inside vs outside. These Prosecutors better step up and wake up!

I do not think its fair to Charl Johnson and his wife not to be expected to discuss how she was handling the cross examination. Its his wife it is perfectly normal and not unnatural for them to confide in each other and to help each other recall what one might of missed mention or understand. To suggest descriptive words of such two people who not only are married but live together to keep from each other what they had to go through and what one should prepare to expect or correct and align to what they may both believe they heard is not unreasonable and is not a fabrication of the events which unfolded as Mr Barry Roux is seemingly attempting to prove, hence putting the testimonies of the married couple to be unreliable.

It's almost amusing Adv. Roux talks about "6 remarkable coincidences" between the Burger/Johnson statements and testimony, because if it weren't for a number of remarkable coincidences (or chance happenings) his client - apparently - wouldn't have killed his girlfriend as she used the toilet in the middle of the night. If, by chance, he had seen or heard her getting out of bed. If, by chance, he had seen her walking down the passage. If, by chance, he hadn't heard her open the bathroom window. If, by chance, he had talked to her while he was in the bedroom to see if she heard what he heard and realised she wasn't there. If, by chance, she had responded to him as he screamed out for her to call 911. If, by chance, he had waited to hear the toilet flush. If, by chance, he had waited to see the door open. If, by chance, he hadn't been "pointing" (not aiming) his gun at the toilet door, and instead at the window he thought the ladder was beneath. Then, by chance, she would still be alive. It would be very amusing, if a young woman hadn't lost her life "because of these remarkable coincidences".

How could she have screamed after she was shot in the head? Roux is one slimey bugger. Let's assume Oscar's version is true fo a moment. All this does not diminish that the first shot hit Reeva in the thigh, she would have screamed in pain - at which point Oscar would have heard it was Reeva in the toilet. Why did he then fire 3 more shots? Why did he fire in the first place? He was in no immediate danger. There was a door between him and "The Burglar", so to harm him the burglar would have had to open the door first or fire blindly through the door if he had a firearm. Either way, Oscar broke the law by firing through the door.

I read somewhere that the defence will plead that Pistorius acting in self defence. SD is available if you can prove accused acted how any 'reasonable' person would to an immediate threaet. Unbelievably, they're going to try to argue that Pistorius, by virtue of being on his 'stumps' was not a reasonable person, i.e. because of his huge vulnerabilities compared to an able person, he wasn't able to act rationally to his false perception that there was a burglar in the house.

  • @JurieBotha

So Solo Still does not explain why he didn't cease fire after the fist shot. I find it hard to believe that Reeva would not have screamed in pain after the first shot. Two of the witnesses testified that they heard a pause between the first and the following shots.

  • @egw6659

    @egw6659

    10 жыл бұрын

No, I wasn't saying that as an explanation. Roux can't argue away the screams before the shots - no matter how hard he tries (by saying for example it was Pistorius who might have screamed, or that it was the cricket bat and not shots). I also think it was damning that there was screaming at all before the shots because at the bail hearing Pistorius said he thought she was in bed asleep. If she was screaming in fear he would've certainly known she wasn't in bed asleep.

So Solo theres only two questions to ask him "as soon as you heard the noise in the house why didn't you turn round and see if your girlfriend was lying next to you and before you grabbed your gun just have a quick look to see if she was in the bed , no one in the world would not check this first before firing through a locked door at someone who was making no noise in the bathroom ?

bernie sharp Yep, that's true and logical. What I'm trying to say is his legal team will argue his reason was impaired - i.e. he was not the 'reasonable' man of the legal standard people are held up to because of his physical vulnerability/perceived vulnerability. I'm not saying I agree with it and that it's fair but that's what I think will happen based on my legal knowledge.

Why did he continue shooting. The evidence is clear, why should this run for a year. Is it because he is rich. If it was a normal citizen, he could have been jailled a lot time ago. He is guilty the court is adjourned. Case closed

I do not know what South Africans know or not. However, respectfully speaking with first hand experience. I was unfortunate to be in a house while officials were breaking entrance into. They used a wooden rod or plak to break the door down. While they were hitting the door (which was an expensive wood) I thought it was gun shots. I was upstairs and thought the people downstairs were all shot dead. So yes, a cricket bat (which is heavy - hitting a wooden door can cause a gun shot sound. I was surprised to find out that no one was shot and it was the breaking of the door that made the gunshot sounds. Yes, I have had heard gun shots prior to to that day. Each gun sounds differently. Oscar has a very strong upper body due to his disability so it would not be difficult for him swing the bat quickly. One must weight all possibilities instead of being narrow minded. My opinion, this defense attorney is incredible and is earning his paycheck brilliantly.

As a matter of fact, by badgering witnesses and repeating the same questions over and over again or by being grossly offensive, Roux is disserving his case as it makes him appear desperate. I really like Roux. I think he might have killed Reeva... and nobody would possibly nail him...ever. Compared to him Pistorious is a jerk.

Defence case : bat sounds like a gun, Pistorius sounds like a woman. LOL If you believe that you'll believe anything. A Taurus 9mm has greater decibels than a bat against a door. The video showing a comparison is so fake. The volume on the bat has been turned up - as you can hear the background noise dramatically increase. Looking forward to cricket players wearing ear protectors and Pistorius singing I'm Every Woman.
