I think everyone played it just right. The critics were wrong, and the public followed. When you have something top-shelf and it's out of context, it can flop. Hollywood never should have stopped making movies like this. Style and class.
Gotta love this flic. Past-paced and CLEAN humor. No cussing, the acting is perfectly done, and the cast really know how to work with each other. Amusing bit, there was an "oops" at around 1 hour and 31 minutes-ish. One of the feds is eating from a box of Cheerios. Thing is, Cheerios didn't come out until 1945, and it was originally named "Cheerioats"; they had to change the name due to legal issues though.
You here 'cause you read comments first, before watching the film? Please go on and watch it! It's easily gonna be one of the funniest films you've ever seen! You don't here me giggling and laughing out loud a lot while watching, but that time I did it all the time

@@user-cx3ph5th8r you're welcome 😊
What a marvelous production. The stylized acting was so vastly superior to anything contemporary. It sang like a piece of music.
This is such a wonderful funny movie and the characters are all perfectly picked for their parts - totally enjoyed it. How come they don't make entertaining movies with really good actors like this anymore? Thank You DDF: Movie Day
I am ahemm, a 71 year old Grammy! I really don't remember this one! It is hilarious! It is nice to see Sylvester Stallone in a comedy! I don't think there are any I didn't like him in.

I saw this back when I was young. And i loved it. But then I felt like I was only one who saw it dang. This was a good movie deserved more credit.
How the heck did they get Kirk Douglas to do this bit part? Stroke of genius!

Indeed.
Great scriptwriting and excellent performances from all. The actors were aware of some not so well-known subtleties from the old black and white movies, and captured them perfectly, from speech cadence to actual phrases. The old movies always ended in a wedding.

Indeed... Greetings from the Caribbean! This film is a GEM..!
I've always liked this movie. It's too funny. The funniest line (1:31:28) was from Tim Curry as Dr. Poole to Chazz Palminteri as Connie, he said "Watch it there Connie, you've got a dangling participle" and Connie turns around to zip up his pants. 😆

What a crazy movie. If you can keep up it's good. Love finding something I haven't watched at 64.
Anyone who thinks Sylvester Stallone only as a action star should watch this. Its obvious that this movie was from a broadway show adapted for the big screen. It was quite suprising how Sly was not bad at all and was suprisingly good. The all star didn't hurt either, particularly the female cast. Until then I hadn't seen Yvonne De Carlo since Ten Commandments, Linda Gray since Dallas, most of all the last time i saw Ornella Mutti was when she was in Flash Gordon. In seems here she still looked like she was then.
One of my absolute fave Stallone films and I know he loved making this film - comedy and Sly a great combo
This a great movie. Roots of vaudeville, slapstick, innuendo, and much more.
One of my favorites!! Unfortunately EVERYONE I've shared it with dislikes it greatly. 😢😢😢😢
I always say this is Golden Era movies ❤❤❤❤
Wow, this movie really surprised me! Glad I did take the chance, what a cast. It kept a great flowing and laugh out loud moments.🌟
Thanks for exquisitely sharp image ! 🎉
I really liked this movie. I saw it in a theatre when it was first released. I think this period of Sylvester Stallone's career was when he was most handsome. Tim Curry is great in everything he ever does.. and who can hate a movie with Lily Munster (Yvonne De Carlo) in it? Thank you so very much for posting it. It gave me the opportunity to rewatch it and enjoy it as much as I did the first time.
It's so corny, it's hilarious.
After putting off watching this for months, I'm glad I finally got around to it... it was delightful. Who knew that Sylvester Stallone had comedy chops, cause I sure as hell didn't!
Loved this since I was a kid👍❤️ it's just FUN!😊

Great ensemble film with a wonderful comedic story. All must be commended for their effort within this piece that contains some of the greatest giants such as Curry, Tomei, Stallone, Ameche, Douglas, Muti, Smith, and Palminteri. A wonderful reminder that action stars can be funny and telling a great story was done at this time with these people. Congrats you all for a classic.
I watched it the second time and stil laughing my ass off! Antonio looks and talks exactly my Montreal's Italian friend, Marco Baratta. Cool guy!

Great comedy 🤣🤣🤣
How good is marisa tomei in her first film performance.
First time I'd ever seen Marisa Tomei. I thought she stole the show.
jejeje I liked it.
I enjoyed it. Great movie 😂😂😂
omg they used the same Universal backlot as they did in The Sting & City Heat, not to mention Courthouse Square is right around the block where they filmed Bye Bye Birdie & Back to the Future. @7:44 is Kid Twist's apartment or room from which he signals Gondorff at the old Strenner's Billiard hall where they take Doyle Lonnegan's $.
"Come closer..." 😁
The good old movies humor,i really enjoyed😊😊😊
Reprise Américaine d'oscar (pièce de théâtre et film Français). Excellent !!! ❤❤❤
Up until now, the only Sylvester Stallone movie that I have seen was "Rocky" (The first one, which was more than enough, thank you so very much!😉) So, I decided to watch this out of a sense of ennui and boredom, but, to my surprise, I am enjoying this very much. While he is no Olivier or Geilgud, Stallone is better than the popular image that was formed by gossip and hype. Who knew?!

@randolphedward8152 Look up Tim Curry, this is the only film (so far) that he wasn't playing a rotten no good villian. He played in 'Titanic', 'Postman' & 'Color Of Memories (Magic) (Terry Pratchett's Triology) etc., etc., just Google him or search his name here in KZread search engine. Tim Curry has aged alot since 1998, B prepared in 2024 for a shocker! ;-D
❤❤❤
THIS MOVIES GREAT! BUT TO MANY COMERCIALS AND IT'S PIXILATEING!

Can't I stay, boss? Everytime I leave I fall behind. This movie had me busting a gut and rewinding to see certain scenes. Very funny movie. Superb acting. The mannerisms and facial expressions alone are worth the price of admission.
