I feel like joe had a big MMA thing, like the way he would go after boxing and the way they promote it. Rogan was the company man and with Mikey they would just spout shit off cause back then there was no such thing as offensive. Good times. Rogans comments were great but nothing beats the Goldie line “TrAvis Luther the Micheal Jordan of BJJ”

This was the first UFC event I ever saw. I rented the dvd from the “new release” section of my local video store. I immediately fell in love with the sport and couldn’t believe I’d never heard anyone talk about it before. Luckily for me my local video store had all 39 of the UFCs events, so over the next month or so I watched the entirety of the UFC, haven’t missed an event since. Tito cops a lot of shit for the very special things he’s said, but he’ll always be a legend in my eyes. He was the UFCs first star, he helped put the sport on the map and he was the guy that made me never want to miss a single fight.

Shamrock thinking he could mix it with the new breed, ironically, was exactly what eventually happened to Ortiz. Ortiz was a savage on the floor, and really was the first to be super active with the ground and pound ,when still in guard. Trouble was,he never had any hands, which was his undoing.
