I am a convert of 46 years from a pious RC background and a priest for 21 years. You are the first real kindred spirit I have encountered in all this time. God bless your work! Pax!

Highly recommend Living Orthodox with Fr Michael. He’s very insightful and solid on spiritual and apologetics topics especially and has an episcopal blessing.

What I know is that I converted to Orthodoxy from Trad Roman Catholicism thanks VERY, VERY largely to Jay Dyer.

I am definitely not attacking anyone or anyone's story. This is just my experience. I was blessed that some clergy have reached out and said these reflections were helpful, and I hope they are. But above all, go to your priest or spiritual father for direction on this and anything else. What a wonderful thing to find the true faith SO THAT one can participate in the mysteries, receive forgiveness of sins, and join the body of Christ.

Great insight. The online Orthosphere was my first introduction to Orthodox Christianity (outside of books) when I was inquiring about 5 years ago. Thankfully, I started attending a parish soon after that. I see a few bad apples out there who, through their actions, turn people away from the Church. It's unfortunate, but it's the reality of fallen humanity. I pray that people will overlook our faults and not let any individual keep them from Christ and His Church.

There's a lot online that I would be careful of. I came to Orthodoxy from traditional Roman Catholicism and some online commentators were very helpful for me. There are some who get a lot of criticism like Fr Peter Heers, Jay Dyer and Orthodox Kyle and others. Even if their approach can sometimes be a bit abrasive for my taste, I have to say that I would not be Orthodox today but for them. This is especially the case in apologetics and thrashing out some of the real obstacles that a Trad RC would have in considering Orthodoxy.

The reason for the number of videos is the number of internet addicted people who convert to orthodoxy. If you have actually converted to orthodoxy, that means you are a member of a church and you go to church every weekend at least. Internet orthodoxy is a meme church online.

@@TheRomanOrthodox I have yet to meet a real-life priest of the OCA, Antioch, or ROCOR who approves of the content produced by Erhan, Dyer, Heers, or Kyle. Online Orthodoxy is haunted by the sins of pride and arrogance. Cyber Orthodoxy overwhelmingly lacks humility, which is the most important attribute in an Orthodox life. When priests stand up against this cancerous community, they often end up being harassed by "Orthobros." When I first came to the Church, I dabbled with these communities for a while, but I am so glad I realized early on that they are dangerous for a spiritual life. During our second meeting, my priest literally asked me, "Was that your initial impression of Orthodoxy?" in a confused and sad tone. I happily said no.

That Little Corner isn't so small anymore and is taking on the secular space where more mainstream ortho has not been present and seems to be spending more of its energy on arguing over who the most "true" strain happens to be.
