Orson Krennic in Andor | Rogue One Connections | Are the Jedi Villains? | Star Wars News

Ойын-сауық

It's time for some Star Wars News! Will Director Orson Krennic be in the second season of Andor? Back in February, the answer was no from Ben Mendelsohn himself but now that doesn't seem to be the case. How could Krennic fit in with the show as it races toward Rogue One? And what other characters might show up? Plus, a tough question about the Jedi and what they represent in The Acolyte and the Star Wars fandom now. Joseph Scrimshaw and Ken Napzok discuss it all and on the 667th episode of ForceCenter.
From the minds of Ken Napzok (comedian, host of Pop Rockin' Radio), Joseph Scrimshaw (comedian, writer, director of The Nightmare Adorable, and Jennifer Landa (actress, KZreadr, crafter, contributor on StarWars.com) comes the ForceCenter Podcast Feed. Here you will find a series of shows exploring, discussing, and celebrating everything about Star Wars. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts. Listen on TuneIn, Stitcher, Spotify, and more!

Thanks to Joseph and Ken! 🌟 Lovely to read (six days ago) that Mr. Mendelsohn will appear in Season 2 of ANDOR. 🔸 I've been hearing more and more talking heads suggest that Jedi are villainous since they "steal children". Jedi do *not* steal children! They offer parents an opportunity and impress upon them the danger of a Force sensitive falling to the Dark Side without proper training. I'd actually love to see a series about the kids whose parents refused the Jedi... how they turned out. But that's not to say Jedi are perfect. They are people. Everyone has an array of qualities that could be focused in either beneficial or harmful ways. Jedi strive toward helpfulness. They might make mistakes, but as an Order, they're not bad.

It seems plausible to me that Krennic would show up in Andor Season 2. Loni mentions Scarif Early in Andor during the first ISB meeting. Could be that the ISB is curious about what is going on there. Perhaps Loni discovers some of the first word of a 'Super Weapon' being built.

Congrats on the good show, Ken! I know a lot of us understand the feeling of thinking your dreams have maybe fallen by the wayside only to have them come back like some sort of Phoenix and give you new inspiration. At the risk of sounding a bit cheesy, I'll quote One Piece to remind us that "Man's dreams can never die."

If I recall correctly Krennic and Thrawn butted heads over project funding/budgeting. Not a thrilling storyline but I want any excuse to see Thrawn.

I find myself wondering where the idea in parts of fandom came from that, "Jedi can do no wrong." Obi-Wan, a former Jedi, says: "I thought I could instruct him just as well as Yoda. I was wrong." No one is perfect. The Jedi are still a symbol of peace and justice. Coded as morally good. That doesn't mean mistakes aren't made and lessons can't be learned. If you don't grow from a mistake, if you fail to take on and account for new information, then that is a failing. Heroes aren't defined by their power. Or status. Or title. It doesn't matter if Rey is a scavenger from nowhere with unimportant drunks for parents OR if she is the secret hidden offspring of a clone of Palpatine. Rey is a hero because of her actions. Her choices. To quote another franchise, with great power comes great responsibility. Heroes rise to and use their powers responsibly. Villains exploit their power for their own ends at the expense of others. The Jedi have a good mission statement: For light and life. Are their actions moving them closer to or further from that mission? There isn't only one path forward. If information reveals that the path forward is blocked, or turns out to be going in circles, or losing ground, do the Jedi have the collective wisdom to recognize that and make the necessary changes? Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. I still believe in the Jedi. I believe they can learn and grow past their mistakes. I believe in their mission. For light and life.

The focus of the show seems to be a lot more, "sympathy for the devil," and to have a story with sith protagonists, the jedi have to be the villains or at least the villains would have to be jedi. The only way to make that make sense is to use all the sith/jedi lore from the prequels. The grand plan is being played out by turning the whole jedi order to the darkside. The shroud of the darkside isn't something that happened to the jedi, it's their own fear and misplaced loyalty to the senate. You don't kill the jedi with a weapon, you make them betray their beliefs and you, "kill the dream." Jedi fans like us have to be able to separate the ideals of the jedi from the politics of the people.

The big question for me is does andor season 2 lead up to rogue one present time or rogue one? In the past with krennick the opening shot of rogue one was a pass shot I believe 10 years before. Just curious

The word from Tony Gilroy is that Season 2 will take us right up to the point where Cassian is on his way to the Ring of Kafrene where we first see him in Rogue One.
