No wonder little Fenya didn't make it. She looks so thin and gaunt here. Its hard to watch this, knowing that no matter how much they did to help her, medically and emotionally, she didn't have a chance. God Bless this little girl in heaven. ❤

Great to see the introduction of the two girls, Fenya came round to Kanyisa eventually it will take time n lots of patience thats for sure.They will hopefully become great friends, can’t wait to see them going to meet the herd together for a daily walk 🙏🐘💕🐘💕🥰

You can tell how well they take care of these orphaned elephants. Keep up the good work elephants are such intelligent and beautiful animals.They deserve to be protected.

Lammie!!!! Ever the calming influence. She says,”my work here is never done!!” It must be lovely for the frightened babies to have a living fluffy soft “teddy bear” who also teaches them to be kind. She is the most incredible nursemaid and elie could ever have!🤍🕊🕊🤍🕊🐑🕊🤍🤍

Yes, that ear healing properly will make me very happy! She needs it to work and not be painful - I think they mentioned plans to do stitches in at least her neck once wounds will permit.

I doubt it. One's these two little elephants have a good bond their play activities will be elephant sized, there is every chance that they may use Lammie as a football or basketball or volleyball. Little one's of all animals are very naughty without the guidance of their moms and in the case of elephants it is a different thing.

I was so happy to see Lammie involved in Khanyisa and Fenya's "meet and greet".

Yeah Fenya and khanyisa are different cases Khanyisa was so so young when she was rescued But fenya is comparatively a big baby So she has a clear memory of being loved and cared about by her mommy, aunts, grandma and happily playing with cousins Fenya needs a little bit more of time to cherish that memory of her past without the feeling of being deserted and then go on the journey of enjoying the happy present She needs time Poor little thing 😭

Awww, look at the baby sisters getting to know each other! 🐘💕🐘 Adorable! I can tell this happened over the course of Fenya's first week. The scents and sounds of the other ellies *must* have piqued Fenya's curiosity, sense of comfort, and healing process. Beautiful footage!

Aw they are both survivors. Two adorable little ones. Look at the amazing change in Fenya already. I think she might soon get to miss Little Miss K during the days. And, of course, Lammie the legend ready for duty as always.

I loved this. Little Khanyisa has the cheery welcoming personality and Fenya is standoffish and defensive. She wants to connect. I was surprised she didn’t go running over to say, “hey, one of my kind”. You can see how desperately hurt Fenya is although she is bigger. My heart breaks for her. Thank you for all your work. I pray Fenya continues to put on weight and get better.

Yes, they feel a great deal of emotion and they don't forget. It'll take a lot of love and care to get her not just physically, but emotionally well again. She isn't as young as baby Khanysia, so it might take a little longer. And it might not. She's made a long of progress in a very short time so I'm optimistic that she is going to be ok and will be outside enjoying her days with her new Herd very soon. :)

@@jeanettereynolds3151 Info under video: "For the time being, we are keeping Fenya in the nursery as she is still getting used to her surroundings, and her wounds are a concern, especially her one by her throat which has a big gaping hole, which could get easily infected. We also have to be 100% sure that she is comfortable with her carers and Khanyisa, as she could hurt them if she gets startled or scared. Remembering the immense trauma she has been through, these things have to be considered. Adine would like to have the two calves together in the bigger nursery when the time is right. For now, Fenya needs to heal and get good sleep and rest without distraction, until she gets her strength up."

@Jeanette Reynolds Sweet pink baby Khanyisa is still the smallest baby! She could easily be hurt by Fenya. It wouldn't be Fenya's fault, because she is scared and traumatized and all these elephants and humans are new to her. It would be the humans' fault for putting them together too soon. Adine and the HERD carers are doing the absolute best thing for everyone by introducing them slowly and keeping them both safe from possible harm. They are experts at this! And Adine has a magical touch with baby elephants :) I understand how you feel, though. Makes my heart hurt thinking what these babies have been through, and Fenya's trauma is still very, very fresh. She's still in pain with wounds. It's so sad. But she is getting the very best loving care.

These two are beautiful together. I was wondering whether they had been able to interact yet. It must be such a comfort to Fenya to know that there are other elephants there, and even at least one other "kid" to keep her company. And of course they have Lammie's comforting presence to help them adjust to one another. I think they're going to be great friends.

Both are doing so well. Baby steps for both. It is hard to have been an only child and then you have to share mom with another child. This is wonderful thank you so much for sharing this with us.

This is wonderful! Khanyisa loves and trusts Adine, ; Fenya is trusting Adine more each day therefore it's sensible that she is at these meetings. Adine is giving Khanyisa her usual affection so she won't feel "pushed out". Fenya is witnessing this affection. All part of the plan to encourage Fenya and she's responding beautifully! I think these two will become close, loving sisters! 💖🐘🐘💖🙏🙏🙏

I'm so glad that Fenya and Khanyisa have met. All was calm and well-behaved, although at one point Lammie looked ready to wade in, if required! Khanyisa will probably be a little put out that she has to share the limelight but I'm sure that the patience of all her carers will ensure that all will be well. 🥰🐘🐘

I am curious how the rest of the herd will react when Khanyisa gathers with them carrying the smell of Fenya.

A lot has been accomplished in a very short time with respect to socializing this severely injured wild calf. Such a great job!

Yes I could see a little of the jealousy emotion starting with k when Adine had her arm outstretched to Fenya over the top bar but that is natural and to be expected until they get used to each other. It is likely that K will sense and smell (the antibiotic cream on the wounds)and the trauma of F and it may bring back the memories of trauma possibly accounting for K's unsettled tummy. They say elephants never forget and I believe this. So far they are both progressing well and I am feeling that their relationship will be strong in time! All thanks to HERD and the time and effort they spend with these beautiful souls. Thank you for sharing.....I was waiting for this and it was amazing. God bless you all😇🙏🕊🌼🌸🌻

I also think it might have been stress-induced diarrhea. I sensed when khanyisa pulled away that the sight and smell of the trauma & antibiotics might have triggered those memories and she got emotional.

Oh loved that video. Have to say Lammie with her calm presence steals the show for me. So solid she just potters around. Another day another baby elephant for Lammie to mind. :)

Fenya reaching out to Lammie with her trunk was most amazing to me. Lammie had made no real effort to interact with Fenya, just standing by quietly. At first I thought that Fenya had not even noticed Lammie. Fenya's trunk reaching out to Lammie totally surprised me!

It will be lovely to see them have their bottles of milk side by side. I’m sure it’ll help with their bonding. Poor Lammie, the baby elephants steal all the attention :)

This is a good start it’s baby steps, they will be life long friends in know time. When fenya settles in and feels better and safe they will soon be running and playing. Great work everyone your doing a fantastic job. 🥰❤️😇🙏

It was so nice to see them get together. I think that we expect them to jump into each other’s arms, but animals are much more sensible and wisely guarded. It did look like they enjoyed each other’s company. You are all so good with those sweet babies.

I am in awe of how Adine, the carers and, all the staff at HERD have orchestrated integrating Fenya into their care. I imagine introducing Fenya to the family has its challenges as she is 2.5 years old and has experienced so much trauma in her short life. Thank you for sharing this video with all of us. I am hoping that in the months to come, I will learn more about the behavior of elephants and how intricate the balance is for HERD. Time for me to research.

So lovely to see little Khanyisa making Fenya feel welcome by having lunch together. All under the watchful eye of the dutiful Lammie. Two beautiful baby girls that have a shared experience. Hopefully little Fenya's physical wounds heal quickly. The herd will help them both with their emotional ones. I thank each and every one of you for the commitment you have in healing and reintegrating these amazing creatures.

And it was grand seeing Lammie, she is SO protective of Khanysia.

Unbelievably amazing encounters we were all waiting for. Khanyisa is confident though cautious, Fenya is rowdy coming from the wild and in her special circumstances, having pain maybe though less and still in distress. What a beautiful case to be studied for years to come. When the allomothers see her, wow, praying they will all accept her. Little by little, one day at a time. You know exactly what to do.

I think it is so cute that Khanysia visits Fenya in the am and then goes off to Bush with the herd. As soon as Fenya heals they will run off to their family together. Although baby K seemed a little timid at first, I think each day will be better. I loved the way Fenya reached out and touched L ammie. I think we all want this integration to happen quickly but I know it is best for everyone humans and Ellie's alike to be patient. TY for the update.🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘😍🐑

its soo interesting about Fenya the way she showed interest in Lammie. she never touched another species other than humans recently, , a lamb like that. She was so cute in her interest in Lammie lol. Fenya has a touch of wild in her. She was recued at an older age than Kaniysa.

Not only is the continued protected contact wise for Adine, her team, and Khanyisa, I think Fenya prefers it. She feels safer with the barrier right now.
