Oris Aquis 2017 Watch Review - Is The New Update Still One Of The Best Swiss Divers Around $1000?

Ref: 01 733 7730 4135-07 8 24 05PEB
In today's video, a channel and personal favourite watch returns! In recent years Oris has consistently been releasing amazing heritage inspired divers, but today we take a look the 2017 update of their most loved and distinctive contemporary diver. I am a massive fan of the Aquis and this Swiss independent brand in particular. The Aquis remains one of the best value, uniquely designed, high quality and robust divers at around $1000 (and upwards) to this day. I have owned the previous generation of Aquis a few times so I was delighted to borrow this one and see what the differences are for myself. Have they ruined a classic or perfected it? Lets find out!
A quick thank you to Saltzmans for lending this watch in for review.

Apart from manufacturing brilliant watches for what they’re worth, and drawing the attention of international community to environmental issues, Oris has always been known for the outstanding customer support. It’s like when you buy an Oris you know you’re in a team with the good guys ☺️.

Perfect video timing. I ordered this watch earlier today with the black rubber strap. I enjoy your videos. Your previous video on the 40mm discontinued grey version got me hooked on this line of watches.

Frikkin' gorgeous... I've love the uniqueness of the Aquis for so long but thought it would be too chunky... This just heightens my love even more now that they've slimmed it down a little! GORGEOUS. Great vid as always Gov.

A big fan of your channel, started watching your videos from a couple years or so ago, and now I own a 1st gen ORIS aquis, 5 seikos, and recently acquired a speedy reduced. Your reviews are just so convincing! My fiancee is already going crazy, and now when she sees me watching your videos she would go: "oh no, is that TGV again? Are you planning on buying another watch?" But I wont let her stop me. Keep up the great work! Cheers,

This was the watch that made me love Oris- and Swiss watches for that matter then your channel ultimately led me to buying the 40mm Tungsten version. Love the new Aquis, and can I just say that the intro is so fitting of the brand; classy, unique and definitely cool

Your channel has got me back into my love of watches and has given me more knowledge from the entry level to high end, brands, types, elc. Found the first watch I'm going to save up for an Omega seamaster 300 I think it's the perfect watch for me and this wouldn't be a bad option either. Thanks again for your knowledge

I've really liked Oris for a few years now and when you started up, I was so chuffed that you recommended them. Now 3 years later, I'm looking at the Aquis again, but also fancy the Sinn 104, U1 and some kind of Damasko. I have a large wrist, so the Damasko might be out. Thanks once again for your superb videos, you're the most thorough; I started with the Aussie expletive guy, but his obsession with unattainable timepieces and language puts me off. Keep up the great work!

Before I knew about the Aquis I was scrolling though Watches under $1000, It really stood out from the others, To me, it gives the look of a luxury watch while only costing $1000.Love that they designed their own distinct looking watch and not just another annoying homage.

Great channel. I spent many years to safe 15K to buy a luxury watch ending up buying an Oris Aquis Clipperton for 2500.- it wasn’t intended but I tried it at the dealer as the light hit the dial. I purchased this watch (online) so I couldn’t try it on and didn’t know what to expect as far as how it was going to wear. I have 7.25 in wrist, so not too big or small. When I tried it on I worried that it looked a little too big but after wearing it for a day or two I quickly realized that the fit was perfect, yes it’s on the bigger side but it wears comfortably. Anyone on the fence about this watch just go for it, you won’t be disappointed. The polished sides of the bracelet gives it that little bit of bling without it being attention grabbing. Just pure class.

Love this watch. I'm slim wristed, but was surprised the previous 43mm fitted me ok - the lugs really do make it wear smaller. In fact, it was a much better fit than the 42mm Diver 65. Perhaps the extra .5mm will push it over the edge! And well done, TGV, on another great video.

I have and Aquis Small Second Date. It's my favorite watch in my collection. I recently purchased a Deep Blue Sun Ray 3 because its seemed similarly built to the Oris and a wanted a watch with an orange face. When I received the watch, the differences in build quality was obvious enough for me to return the Deep Blue and look for another Oris. My question is, you mentioned that the Oris was nipping at the heels of some of the higher end brands. What would you consider to be the significant differences between the Oris and the higher end brands that you are referring to? Thanks.

Hi there. I'm wondering whether this watch would be too large for my 18cm wrist. When I was at the shop and tried the older version (43mm) it appeared rather small on the wrist. On the other hand, when I'm reading various forums, I can see that people keep on complaining about the size of this watch. I know that 40mm is just too small and disappears on my wrist. I'd appreciate your opinions. Cheers!

I have been a fan of Oris for some years now, I think they outshine many of the so-called 'Luxury' makes which are over-rated when closely scrutinised, especially in the value dept. I sold my 40mm for an Omega 2254.50, but I'm somewhat regretting that decision. I hope they bring the 40mm back. My only gripes are that I wish the movement was a little more decorated (like Stowa does at this price point) and I wish it had a lumed bezel, which is becoming a common feature these days.

Just bought a aquis in all titanium! All i can say is wow!!! I was saving up for a Tudor Pelagos when i saw It in a Watch shop. For almost half a the price of the pelagos, i can say i bought a worthy contender pound for pound... even vs the submariner.

I'm a big fan of the Aquis! I like the 'leaf' style hands a bit more though in the previous generation. Great review as always TGV!

Gonna pull the trigger on one very shortly. Can’t decide colour but swaying towards the green. Either way, I’m excited to get it.

These videos are First Rate... Top Drawer... The intros are fantastic. I'm starting to become a watch buff again... Keep up the good work. I've seen the Chris Ward offerings. I'm currently looking at their C60 Trident Day Date COSC . Looks like a great deal at $1,100. The downside is that they are limited edition offerings. A couple of years ago I was saving (aside from a house, car, or furniture I refuse buy on credit) up for their Ferrari red chronograph and then poof... they sold out. A real disappointment.

Great video, I just purchased the hulk version. I am considering a longines conquest but cant find many reviews of the watch, are you planning on reviewing a conquest in the future?

Hello TGV. I absolutely love your channel. I only discovered your videos two weeks ago but have been watching them non-stop. I was wondering what your opinion was on the Oris Artelier Date line of watches for a nice dress piece. Thank you and keep up the great work!

I just tried the 73376524135MB at 36mm. The retailer called it a midsize but amazon calls it a women's watch. I thought it looked great though for my smaller wrists. Didn't know if there was really a difference in the womens and mens oris divers.

Good to see a watch with a decent size crown. Too many crowns are very awkward due to their small size.

Just found your channel. Awesome. How to divers stand up to shock? Are they generally better isolated than a 3 bar watch? I've killed 2 longines dress watches and can only think its down to vibration or shock.

Great review. I have purchased this watch and wanted some options for another strap other than the Stainless Steel and Rubber that Oris offers. Can you suggest a company who sells strap options for this model? Thanks in advance. Cheers!

Any great watch band recommendations for 21 mm? I'm looking into purchasing the Bambino 2nd gen but if I get it I want an upgraded strap.
