nobodys mentions you can use the HDMI input to upscale non HD consoles to HD with their HDMI adapters like the dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, OG XBOX and WII

you don't have to upconvert the OG Xbox, some of the games are already HD and it natively outputs them in 720p or 1080i. Also I really wish that they would make Halo 2 backwards compatible with a day 0 patch so it comes exactly as it came during retail launch. Speed runners can't run H2 classic on XB1 because it's completely patched and some of the weapons were changed to do more damage.

pal xbox games cant do HD and some capture cards can't handle anything lower then 720P like mine :( the xbox one comes in handy for that :)

According to Engadget, the Duke is wired because it's made by a third party. Microsoft doesn't allow them access to their wireless tech.

Xbox One X has become my favorite console of all time. I love that it can play Xbox 360 and OG Xbox games.

Yes, you can play 360 and Original Xbox games that are backwards compatible on any X1. The 360 games have a slight boost in looks and performance. Original Xbox games have been greatly enhanced all which can be seen on any X1, but if you want to take it a step further you it gets 4k enhanced if you have an Xbox one X which you can see the detail difference even on a 1080p TV, so you don't necessarily have to have a 4K tv to see the improvements and if you have a 4K tv you will have the ultimate experience. Which I have heard is insane. I don't have a 4K tv but I will be getting an Xbox one X soon.

I'm surprised how well original Xbox and Xbox 360 games play on the Xbox One X. It gives me hope that one day we'll have a Xbox that plays all Xbox games. Maybe next gen.

Funny when they announced backward compatibility at E3 a few years ago that drove the most excitement and praise. I also see that my favorite all time 360 game, burnout revenge, is now on the backward compatibility list!!

The one X makes my old xbox games look like hd remakes! Ive been playing conker, psychonaughts, and sonic generations in 4k with no slowdown! Yall can talk shit but I want to see sonic heroes and shadow the hedgehog. Dare I say Marble Blast Ultra?

About the Duke being wired: Microsoft doesn’t allow any third-party controllers to be wireless. Since the Duke is being made by Hyperkin they had no choice but to go wired. Also, to my knowledge Microsoft doesn’t do built-in lithium batteries on any controllers, either. Instead they opt for replaceable AA batteries and the optional ‘play and charge’ style kits. I believe this is to extend the lifespan/longevity of controllers, and it’s great to ensure the controller will still be usable many years down the line.

Well that's clearly BS as logitech already made a wireless controller for the original xbox.

The original Xbox is too good! Wish the entire library was playable, though as I noted in my recent buying guide, it's a shame some games can still only be played on original hardware. I hope I can someday play a Xbox One X enhanced Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball.

@@Abel-Alvarez sure but look at PCSX 2 it has given us remasters in essence through the community. HD graphics, texture mods. Language mods etc It has opened up classics that we played as kids to the new generation. If the xbox classics are revived by emus in any sort of similar way I am all for it.

@@cr4zyw3ld3r i agree it does wonders and also dolphin (gamecube/wii emulator) does almost perfect emulation with its amazing support from others. My only minor issue is the fact that the original xbox has had about 1 or 2 emulators in its decade since launch and has had little to no success. It wasn't until 2018 (17 years later) that we finally got a running emulator (CXBX: reloaded) to work and run games as well (and the patreon that the man behind it gets support is always appreciated) as to this is why i said itll take a decade (maybe less depending on how much support the man behind CXBXR gets as well as time & labor into it.

That xbox skin and the Duke with the xbox boot up screen looks awesome! Really kool set up.

No showcase for ninja gaiden black?! Probably the best OG back compatible game at the moment. Really hope to see gunvalkerie and genma onimusha in the future. 360 compatibles are worth looking at as well because there is so much of it and it gets updated with new games every month. Please make an episode about the Xbox one itself. I know it lacks the exclusive quality/quantity that Sony currently has but it definitely has accumulated enough at this point to justify an episode

I have the Scorpio edition of the X and since it has the textured surface I’m not sure how the skin would hold up but man that one seems so official! I didn’t know about the lcd screen in the new Duke controller until this video! This video also made me buy a copy of SSX 3.

I've been loving Panzer Dragoon Orta in near 4K resolutions! Now, bring on Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller (and hopefully fix the slowdown), Gunvalkyrie, Outrun 2, Shenmue II, and, of course, Jet Set Radio Future!

Very cool! I’ve been getting way into og Xbox myself quite a bit lately! The thing I’ve REALLY been digging is how much the original Xbox is basically the Dreamcast 2! It’s awesome how similar the consoles and some of the games are!

Fun fact about Breakdown. It stays in FPS POV from beginning to end even in "cutscenes" making it a very immersive game.

Another feature it has that no one talks about that it has a built-in up scaler so you use the hdmi Adapters for the Dreamcast, GameCube, Xbox, ps2 and wii and it can up scaler them to HD

It wasnt like sony didnt want the feature, backwards compatibility wasn't possible for the ps4 based on the architecture of the ps3. The ps4 however uses x86 architecture which pretty much everyone uses now, and going forward theres no reason why they cant for ps5.

@@KrGsMrNKusinagi0 Clone Troopers are different than Stormtroopers. Clone Troopers were specifically used in the Clone Wars by the Galactic Republic. They did serve under the Empire, but were retired for many reasons. The lab on Kaminoa was destroyed. They’re rapid aging made them old by the time of a New Hope so they were replaced Stormtroopers. Stormtroopers were mostly made up of the Empire’s human citizens and odd aliens like Thrawn.

Awesome skin. Battlefront 2 looked AMAZING. I put so many hours into that game unlocking the medals so you could load into battle with the upgraded guns. Loading in with the burst rifle and war hero was awesome. Great vid 👍

I would never guess they were orig xbox games, they look like at LEAST 360 era graphics wise; i love that you do xbox videos because i feel like i'm learning a lot since it wasn't really a console I played a ton of or followed at the time (kinda had to give up on games for a bit after dreamcast broke my heart!)

I have an original XBOX ONE (the big one) and backwards compatibility is my favourite feature. I didn't have an Original XBOX or XBOX 360, and to be able to experiment all the great games I missed is simply amazing. Love it!

I’m loving these OG Xbox games on my Xbox One X! I too got the Duke which really adds to the experience. That skin for the X1X is cool too, I would’ve bought one but I have the Scorpio edition so I didn’t wanna cover that up.

I would LOVE to play silent hill 4 the room with the backward, also timesplitters 2 and future perfect, outrun 2 and some other hidden gems.

I'm in love with this video. I just picked up a Halo Reach special edition 360. It had a Gears 3 skin on it, and I was super stoked when I turned it upside down and realized what I had! The 360 looks so slick in silver.

I recently downloaded Morrowind, Oblivion, and Bully enjoying every minute of it! Loved these games back in the day and still do! Cheers

You wont be disappointed, streaming has never been so easy. I just click Mixer after hitting the home button and stream away. You can plug a mic'd head set into the controller and it will stream the TV sound directly to it and allow you to interact w your audience. Its really nice.

The s is awesome and I would recommend it over the x in most cases. 1080p on these back compatible games looks good enough. The x is only for people who plan to use it as a primary console over the ps4

Some 360 favs not yet covered by MJ, and benefits of One X: Civilization Revolution (turns calculate quicker) Daytona USA (16x MSAA really cleans up edge jaggies) Darksiders (Renders at nearly 4k; super sharp) Red Dead (same 16x MSAA, + much improved frame-rate, especially Undead Nightmare) Portal 2 (higher rendering res means better distant detail for portalable-surface-spotting) XComs: Faster loading and Turn calculation. Not all of those are even *specifically* One X enhanced, but still play MUCH better than on 360 or original model One, in my experience! Thanks, MJ. I've picked up SSX and Panzer to try some OG games I never played first time around! I'm also gonna grab Psychonauts and Jade Empire on your recommendation. ;)

I love my Xbox One X! Been playing a lot KOTOR2 1 and 2 😊 I've also been playing Battlefront 2 a lot. The backwards compatibility program is awesome and I wish and hope for it to increase a lot this year and next year. The enhancements on the 360 games are remarkable, just look at Red Dead Redemption and Gears Of War 2 for an example, both of those games are very pretty now. Also look at Assassin's Creed (1) it is so good to look at now. I love my Mighty X, I wouldn't trade it for anything

DrunkyMazterFlex I had seen the enhancement video Xbox released for Assassin's Creed a while back showing how things in the distance are more clearly visible due to the Anti-Aliasing. It was impressive. But I recently started playing it for the first time, as I've played others in the series but not the first one, and my mind was blown. It looks so good, and I haven't even see it on a 4K TV.

Metal Jesus I didn't see Hunter the Reckoning in your collection. It's a Diablo/Beat em up style game. You have to get it. 4 players, Character Leveling, Each Character get's their own magic style a Melee Weapon and a gun... It's amazing. and when you give up on it because it's really long and impossible to beat there's a part 2.

Just picked up Star Wars RC like 2 months ago. Great game! Now I'll have to play it on my Xbox one.

motakay Yes they are. All playable OG Xbox titles are available digitally for $9.99

When you put in your original XBOX disc, it just downloads a digital version for you to the HD with all the updates and patches.

Nice! The duke is awesome. My friend in middle school had a Xbox with a duke and a small controller, and because I had bigger hands he would always make me play with the duke on halo and unreal 2. Good times, but the cramping from stretching sucked back then.

I saw arch enemy at the very end of the video on a small tv. Rock on!!

can you download all of these games or do you need to own the disc?

yeah but I've never owned an xbox before so I am wondering if all backwards compatible games are available for download or is it just like most but some you have to fetch a disc for?

Jeff Criss all backwards compatible games on Xbox1 are available digitally, and yes the discs works, though it download the file off live anyways and you still need the disc inserted to play.

Just go to the Store on Xbox one, they have their own section for backwards compatible games there. All the OG Xbox games that works are for sale there if you don't have the disk fairly cheap. I bought SSX3 as I only have it on PS2. No issues at all.

When you buy an Xbox One X, you get one Xbox One X in one Xbox One X box

MetalJesusRocks Pretty sure the second one sold well enough, at least enough to get a greatest hit release and be available as a ps2 classic on ps4. The next two entries, well they certainly didn't do well sales wise alongside not as well received as the first two games.

My gf and I play it and stubbs often now... its neat but yeah... other games have aged better then DAH2

Zoares Zeta I believe the reason PS3 games aren't bc on PS4 is because the PS3 had a cell processor, and they couldn't get the games to work without it being in the PS4 as well.

Zoares Zeta they have a streaming service to play ps3 games for a whopping 20 bucks a month. They also have a I think about 50 ps2 titles on the ps4 store. There's way more on the ps3 store however

Anarchy The Cynic Sony seems to want to keep on upgrading as they’ve suffered financially before for focusing on backwards compatibility, since then they haven’t bothered as they probably don’t want to lose the lead in the console race trying to appeal to a minority that want to play classic titles

Hyperkin tends to cut corners. No reason why the Duke isn't wireless, no reason why the Atari 77 controller is butts, no reason why the Retron 5 should be a flimsy piece of plastic with unlicensed emulators... other than just saving money at the cost of user experience. On a positive note, I'm more and more tempted to get a Xbone... they're trying REALLY hard to fight back at the PS4 and the players get the reap the benefits...

I got the SupaBoy about 2yrs ago and brought it back the next day. It was terrible. The battery connector pins were bent, so had to use the plug and of the few SNES games I own only 1 worked, barely, as it kept resetting after about a min or two into playing. Tried another one in the store and had the same problem.

I think it’s for the nostalgia, and I prefer it that way. However, it is still way too expensive.

Sparky Kelly I was looking at a SupaBoy and a Retron 2 at B.A.M one time. It was a short delimma but I ultimately went w/ the Retron 2 because it also plays NES games. It's cheaply made and the controllers are shit, (I have plenty of original controllers for both) but it's still working to this day, and it plays all the games I have without a hitch.

I don't think Microsoft licenses their wireless tech to third party manufacturers. In general I haven't seen any 3rd party wireless controllers for the 360 or Xbox One.

The backwards compatibility is a great "bonus" feature of the Xbox One and X - Thanks for highlighting this - Please do another video on Xbox 360 games.

These games look great! it would be nice to see a side-by-side with footage from the OG XBOX.

This is definitely neat, but doesn’t justify purchasing the Xbox One X. I have the launch model and I barely use it because I have a PC, and anything that comes out multi platform, which is most of Xbox’s library, I just get on Switch for portability. I am going to have to pick up that Duke controller though, that thing is amazing.

Coolio Creations the switch doesn't every 3rd party game tho and it isn't THAT portable to begin with lol But who's to say that playing old games better on an Xbox one x is a bad thing? Lol PC gamers do it all the time. Playing last gen games at better performance. So why's it suddenly a bad thing if Xbox gamers do the same? Lol not making much sense here

Jesus Perez alright first of all, never said it was a bad thing, I literally said “it’s definitely neat”, but I wouldn’t pay 500 dollars for it, because in my case, I don’t play enough Xbox to justify getting an X. Also how is Switch not portable and yes, third party games are slowly coming to the Switch, obviously not all of them, but the ones that I’m personally interested in.

Coolio Creations well it's not only those older games that look great on the particular higher Xbox console. The new games also run incredible as well. I'm not saying you should run out and buy it or anything. That's not even the one I have. Also if the 3rd party games you enjoy are making their way to the switch then that's great! I hope you enjoy them there! I'll be getting mine later on for the exclusives I'm wanting to play

Jesus Perez Yeah, but if your going to make a 500 dollar console with that much power, you should make some console exclusives on there, not just making the games look better or run better. Graphics aren’t everything, and certainly not 500 dollars worth in my opinion.

It wasn't until this E3 that great news about Nintendo getting a lot of 3rd parties on the console most notably minecraft and fortnight 2 huge games with giant player bases that can be crossplayed between Xbox and switch but it's still missing a lot of 3rd party games.

I love seeing all the videos on the Original Xbox. Very underrated system and library IMO. Thanks for the awesome video!!

Metal Jesus, this video alone is more of a console seller than the exclusives!! I kinda want to upgrade and put that same skin on it!!
