Original Terra Tiger Promo by Allis Chalmers - 6x6 Amphibious ATV

I was digging through our old DVD"s and stumbled across this. It's an original promo video for the Terra Tiger, and it's classic. The video is worth more than a million words.

Omg my hub was watching utube. Knew my dad designed and worked for allis chalmers, that I grew up with one of these. He said stacy that looks like you and your dad in start. I’ll be!! Sure looks just like both of us and with SC pine trees. These were a total blast. Sad they didn’t take off. So much safer than these things kids ride these days. I could sit and do donuts none stop it did not flip. Looks like it’d flip but believe me it’d been very hard.

I have one of these buggies, I've had it for a long time now, i need to get it going, i have the original engine, a two stroke Rockwell with electric ⚡ start, the main thing it needs are tires and rims, you can't get the balloon flotation tires anymore, but, I had found a guy who sells a "kit" with 6 tires and rims that are pre-drilled for about $1000.00, probably more now since I found them..... I guess I should get it fixed, it's a cool looking machine that is unique in this day and time, one reason I haven't gotten it fixed yet is because I also have a Argo Bigfoot that I got a good deal on it came with a 18 HP B&S Vanguard twin.... Was running great and just shut off while idling....so I guess it's time to get to work on both of these things and get them back to rolling..... Although I have never driven my Terra Tiger, if it is anything like the Argo, it will be a blast....

This kind of defined the 70's. If you liked being snapped back and forth this was the vehicle for you. Brings back a lot of memories, mostly one summer when I was about 12 and putting in fence on my grandpa's farm..there was a lot of Muskeg. Perfect vehicle for the Job!

We called them scramblers. In the late 60s probably real close to 1970, they had these dirt tracks where you could rent them to drive

MuddOxRacing it was in North TX, back in the early 70's mostly just small business owners who put in a dirt course complete with hills to ride on. I remember seeing about six or seven scramblers at each place, you paid a certain price which got you a number of laps around the course, I use to beg my dad to stop at one of those places.

I remember this - great 'ol days, rode in one the fertilizer co. had for crop inspection, the two stroke was noisy and smokey but the sucker would go anywhere! Nice share thanx.

Would you see there was the result of the lawsuit because they went from stick to a T form of steering which was from my belief hydraulic steering with the steering wheel instead of stick like a bulldozer

The best thing about this is the music. Not the boring, stupid guitar based crap you hear in almost every video now. If I hear one more heavy metal or electronic background, or any vocals in a promotion I am going to lose it!

They blew it on the excessive noise. It was fun-killing, that noise. If they'd put the motor behind the occupants with a better muffler this would have been a much bigger success because it was powerful, maneuverable and you could use it for a crapload of tasks. Hated the noise. Not wearing noise-cancelling headphones, it's supposed to be fun not as loud as an AC/DC concert . . .
