Fun fact: Batman and Superman were both honorary members of the JSA in the golden age timeline.

I'm so hyped to see the JSA in Black Adam, but it makes me wish they'd added more members onto the lineup. The day I see Wildcat, Alan Scott or Jay Garrick on the big screen I'll literally explode lol

they most likely were on the team before the jsa disbanded. al pratt (first atom) was already confirmed to be an og member of the jsa in the dceu (in the atom smasher justice society files comic). in the dr. fate justice society files comic, he implies that there were others (besides hawkman) in the og jsa

If we learn anything, don’t add/introduce too many characters at one time. They will just make a mess to satisfy fan eye candy - like what they did with BvS and JL movies. If they do a good job, there will be more chances.

@@MrRinre That was how the MCU got such a solid start - 1 movie at a time over a several years until Avengers. DC did the opposite by dumping a bunch of character cameos and killing Superman in his second movie. I hope they learned from their mistakes.

dr fate is slowly becoming one of my favorite dc characters, and hopefully they explain hawkgirls whereabouts in black adam

I LOVE THE JSA!!! Thanks so much for making this Arris! Wildcat is my favorite member after he defeated the entire Injustice Society all by himself in Geoff Johns JSA # 10, it was so awesome!

Yes. I also have great memories of that issue. Top level writing, art, and great characterization.

Without the Justice Society of America, there wouldn't be no Justice League, X-Men, etc. Never forget the JSA.

I would love to see a JSA series like Justice League Unlimited

Warner Brothers DC should consider doing a live-action stand alone JSA movie. I would go for JSA than Justice League.

That would be great, but hollywood takes to many liberties with the characters. I hope they do more animation. They have a great list of villains to choose from, "Ultra humanite, Per degaton, Wotan, Vandal Savage to name a few.

The JSA will team up with the JLA in the DCEU, which means we'll probably have a post credits scene in Black Adam where Dr. Fate is talking to Superman about how to deal with him.

@Will N i liked how they did it in the kingdom come era, they combined the golden age and futurism.

The JSA is my favorite league, i think they have never argued or divided each other and they were all friends. And they also powerful as hell, not only by having Cosmic entities like Dr. Fate and Spectre but some like Flash and Wildcat have less weaknesses than their modern counterparts (Barry's Flash and Batman)

It's about time you did the history of the Justice Society of America. Are you going to do history of the Seven Soldiers of Victory next?

Greatest Team of Superheroes! I’ve been a fan since learning about them in Young Justice. I want to see them in Black Adam!

I’m most excited to see Adam Smasher in the black Adam movie, since he’s one my favorite antihero in DC comics.

The Justice Society of America is the reason for me being a collector. The very first super team of comics.

He forgot to mention that in issue 8 is the first appearance and original origin story of Wonder Woman!

I’d never heard of the Justice Society before watching Black Adam but I loved the way they were depicted. Especially Dr. Fate. I assumed that this team was some obscure side comic to grasp at the past successes of the Justice League but it was actually the other way around! I’m glad we got to see them before James Gunn nuked the franchise.

My top 3 favorite JSA members are: Spectre, Green Lantern and Doctor Fate.

Love this video because I've been a Golden Age ever since I first discovered the JSA in the JLA X-Over when Mr. Terrific was murdered back in the 70s. Then for awhile all the X-overs and finally I was able to read their stories in the 70s when Huntress debuted. Finally their return and inclusion into the All Star Squadron (which DC should put out as an omnibus!!!) but all this has lead me to be a major league Golden Age fan across the board; DC, Marvel, the public domain heroes. There's something almost magical about the GA and Arris is right about the way the comics were written back in the 40s, but fortunately writers changed with the times.

James Bond as Dr Fate..let that sink in 😎. And my guy Aldis Hodge whose a fellow Carolina Native continuing the live action black super hero excellence train like the late great Chadwick Boseman as the first black hawkman in movie history. Everyone looks awesome. I'm happy they kept the team very small. Black Adam is going to be a solid DAMN movie.

Justice society of America greatness

My favorite character in the JSA has always been, and will always be The KENT NELSON iteration of DR. FATE, specifically the pre-ORIGINAL crisis version.

DC Special V1-29 told how they first came together, preventing the Nazi invasion of Britain, even facing down an army of Valkyries summoned by Hitler using the Spear Of Destiny. They came together formally at FDR's suggestion, after Atom (Al Pratt) stopped the last Valkyrie from assassinating him. In the original timeline, Superman (Earth-2/Golden Age) then seized her before she vanished, but post-CoIE, she succeeded in killing FDR, but the Spectre persuaded his boss The Presence to bring him back, if only for a few critical years.

My favorite JSA member is and has always been Doctor Fate.

Sounds like America could use the JSA right about now based on that first storyline.

Atom Smasher is a lucky man,in comparison to Damage..I wonder how many people still remember this character who’s superhero career is so pain stakingly and when he finally have a chance at happiness,he died.

@@srwfanatic I remember him, as well as his resurrection in Doomsday Clock and his involvement in the Infinite Frontier series. Speaking of which, I wonder if DC is going to explain the timeline of the Golden Age Atom being active since 1940 and Damage being born in the modern era, even though his parents would be at least in in their 50s or 60s by the time he was born.

I know he's not in Black Adam but my favorite member of the JSA is Mr. Terrific, specifically Michael Holt. Underrated and underused character.

Since you did the history of Dr Fate, Can you do history of Hawkman, Atom Smasher and Cyclone since they're going to play a major role in the Black_Adam movie? Also can you do history of villain of that movie known as Sabaac?

To be fair, while Justice society was the inspiration for most modern superhero teams I would say the nights of the round table was inspiration for the justice society.

I’m indifferent to being an American. Maybe when the country actually lives up to its currently hypocritical rhetoric I’ll be proud but for all of my life and America’s history this country has been long on mythology and extremely short on actual accomplishments for all of those who live within its borders.

You should have done a full blown history of episode.

The JSA is my all-time favorite team. In the real world then FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover would try to blackmail or discredit them.

The Justice Society of America (2006ish) run by Geoff Johns is so good. The Lightning Saga crossover event with the Justice League and the Legion brought one of the Flashes back to life was epic. You should check it out. Also Thy Kingdom Come storyline that brings in Kingdom Come Superman ....again, epic.

Can you do history of Cyclone, Rhino, Sandman, Kraven the Hunter, Chameleon, Scorpion and the Human Fly along with Kurt Connors the Lizard. Also can you do the history of the Flash Villains like Turtle, Magenta, Cobalt Blue, Mirror Master and Top?

I still think the Justice Society of DCEU not being a magic themed justice system is such a waste of an perfect opportunity, they legit got doctor fate as their leader, the person who is influenced by Nabu (Lord of order) in the helmet, not to mention Justice "Society" Sounds like a cult. this magical justice system aspect will be what differentiate the Justice Society from any of it's other iterations and most importantly differentiate the team from the Justice League, which will create an impact on people's views from viewing the team as just an old WW2 Justice League to something entirely different. This aspect would also make the team more interesting in my opinion.

The flash, Dr fate, can't wait to see Dr Fate on the big screen

My point is the information that they gave us on the Ted Grant Wildcat is false,like for example he doesn't have claws,his suit isn't one size fits all,he doesn't always land on his feet. Not trying to be rude here but if he had nine lives in the show than he wouldn't have died

Atom Smasher is one of my favorites .

The ending of the comic misses the more realistic ending of "thank you for your service. Now you're all arrested."

Although Spectre is powerful, his one draw back is that he must have a human host. In the current Cark Crisis, he is one of the bad guys. In "JUdgement day", when Jim Corrigan gave up the spectre, he went tearing around and being destructive, until Hal Jordan took over.

I know he wasn’t that powerful back then, but does anyone else find it funny that one of the original members of the Justice Society is the EMBODIMENT OF GOD’S DIVINE WRATH!?

@@smashbro67 According to vol.2 fo the Spectre, he was originally conceived aas the vengeance of GOD. Eclipso was the Wrath of GOD. There came a time and certain events, where the Wrath was also transferred to Spectre.
