Bought my red dial Kamasu 3 mos ago and really like it. Gains about 5 seconds/day and has some similar scratching on the case sides but I can buff it out. What I am very impressed with, as you say, is the lume, as it is BRIGHT and lasts a long time! It is better than my Seikos and Citizen which is saying something! I feel for the price point you can’t go wrong not to mention, it is a gorgeous looking watch!

I have this watch I don’t like it very much… about once every two weeks As I have a fairly large collection. Just a note it’s very easy to get those scratches out on a polished surface… There are many Easy to use products That will make all but the deep scratches go away… Thanks for the fun review

Ive had the Orient Kamasu for about 1 and a half years and the only scratches for me are on the bezel insert, small nick on a lug and on the bottom of the caseback.

Looks awesome on a wide black leather strap with white trim stitching

I wear mine like 99% of the year since this is my EDC/tool watch and being that, it held up quite nicely (I have it for 2 years now)! There are absolutely no nicks or scratches on the crystal, the bezel on the other hand could use some tougher material. The original rubber/sylicone strap starts to show wear, which I thought would be tougher, but I gotta admit it went through oil, salt water and a bunch of soap LOL! The movement gains a constant 1.3 minutes each month, on mine, but the screw and the infamous "wobbly" crown have held up in adjustments just fine! All in all, I really can recommend this watch for anybody who is looking for a "cheap thrill" - since this watch can be both!!

Thanks for yor review but in all honesty I don't know what you are doing to your watch. I got mine, also in red, about a month ago and wore it every day, so probably the same wristtime as you. I don't have any scratches whatsoever on the locations you pointed out in your video. The only possibility for such scratches to occur would be if you wore some kind of bracelet next to your watch as is often the case today.

This watch has some fairly deep scratches on the case back. I have not managed that on any of my watches.

He did state that he bought the watch used so, who knows what the previous owner did to it.

Hey, I've read on several pages that modern Orients use Seiko in-house version of Superluminova, Lumibrite. Some models have weaker application of the material and those don't perform as well, while other models are better in this regard and those can even be on pair with Seikos.

Wow, these scratches are difficult to swallow up! My first Mako version 1 was worn every day for years, and had no scratches whatsoever! Thank you for warning for this particular issue , that might be a deal breaker!

The Mako/Ray have exactly the same polished finish on the sides. I own a Ray and Kamasu and they are both fine. I guess it depends on your use - that can happen with every polished surface.

Kind of strange what's happening with the finish. I've had quite a few Orients and haven't had that problem. Still love the watch and that dial color is great. Nice vid!

What is the size of the crown? And beautiful video!!!!

My Kamasu lost that shallow "engraving" from the crown. I wear this watch almost everyday, it's a desk diver for me, and i also wear a stone bead bracelet. After about a month, logo disappeared being constantly in touch with polished stone beads, rubbed off, crown itself is in good condition.

That scratching is odd. I have an Orient Triton and an older M-Force "Beast" and neither has any significant amount of scratching. I'm not particularly gentle with them either. I love that red dial!

True! Funny thing is, there are likely more Spanish speakers in Canada than French, even tho’ French is the 2nd language and spoken by the French Canadian province of Quebec.

I don't know what you do with that watch once a week, but it won't get those scratches by itself. I don't believe this casing is any different in overall design as orient ray 2 for example... Maybe you drag it behind a car or something? Kids play with it?

I've barely worn mine, maybe 4 - 5 times since I've had it (shortly after they came on to market, maybe 2 years now) I hate having to try again and again to screw the crown back in because it barely catches that short bit of thread, maybe 3/4 of a turn. I'm thinking of sending it back to Orient to have them correct that. That's why I'm looking for other people's comments regarding their Kamasus' crowns today. My Orient Mako II does not have that problem.

You want a simple explaination for those scratches? Check your hands. you wear a big chunky ring. Trust me, it's from that ring. When you wear it only once a week there is no way it will scratch that much. Everytime you pick that watch up you touch it with that ring. Check the caseback, even that has deep scratches. That ring is the malefactor. Get rid of the ring, buy another Kamasu and check the scratches again. Thank me later.

Hm, ordered the same model yesterday for 225 Euros. Will see if my kamasu will scratch that much as the watch shown at the video. Possibly Orient used very very cheap steel vor the case. I own watches over years, not just one looks bad like the shown kamasu. OK, its a inexpensive watch, the vintage/used look may come very fast....

@@stargazer2123 The condition is still ok after a year. However, I have not worn the watch very often, there are no traces of wear.

My crown has issue when trying to screw back in I love my orient watches have 3 at moment but not sure I would buy another as the crown on Kamasu is nothing like the mako/ray action

Oh, no , really? The crown on my Mako 2 is the worst of my 15 Watches. Don't they have a QC dept. in Orient ? Might still get it but waiting for a price drop.

I agree, I just bought one. The crown is absolutely terrible.

What are you doing while wearing this watch? None of my 5 year old watches look anything near that bad. Like how do you get all those scratches by the crown guard? That area should be protected from scratching by the protrusion of the crown guards and crown.

The stock bracelet takes advantage of any excuse to rattle it seems like. Better on different straps or the popular jubilee bracelet you see in a lot of these videos

the orient matte style bezels they use make it come off as a bit cheap looking to me. I also dont like the logo and name and automatic on the face. I feel its too much and takes alot of real estate. The specs are so nice on the watch
