    Cool video, you guys did great, but you fast-forwarded the part I really wanted to see, how you work the bait. Do you have any videos where you show how you're workin' it?

    I haven't been here for a while, good one guys. I'm going to the Westport jetty soon. I will definitely try the squid wrapped curly tail. Also I kind of want to mail you a 22 inch piece of paracord to keep in the tackle box.

    I second what chinsaw miller said. Except i would want to mail you a simple measuring tape, found at almost all locations that sell tackle. its not big and bulky, easy to store in a bait box or even in a pocket. Awesome video with great tips that i will be using soon. Will post any catches using your squid technique.

    Just wrap a piece of duct tape on your rod at the 22” mark,

  • @edp1801

    A more affordable option to a tape measure is one of those roll up tapes from a fabric store. Or make a mark on your rod that's 22in

    Sweet catches! What do you use to wrap the squid on the jig? Also, what length of rod do you prefer for jetty fishing? Jigging plastics? I multi-task with some of mine but hoping to dial into and specialize with my gear. All help appreciated!

  • @CJSaws

    Damn nice haul! You guys have it dialed in. Have you guys ever fished off the beach for striper and larger flounder? I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of anyone catching striper of the beach, but flounder used to be really good from there on down the coast. LOL I started fishing that jetty 35 years ago and I’ve never caught a lingcod. I did have some luck a week ago and caught a good size copper. 😁

    First Striper I ever caught was off the beach up by Newport..., I was perch fishing though... I hear the perch guys get them sometimes just throwing sand shrimp... I think the numbers are great though and they're hard to target like that.... As far flounders go, I'm super curious as to know more about how to get into them using lures, I think due to the crab population here bait just gets grabbed up if it isn't moving....

    @@TheBite2020 I caught a starry flounder in Newport a couple weeks ago and every one of the old guys say the've either never seen one or haven't seen them in decades.

    Do you think you can catch flounder on that side of the triangle or is it still too rocky?

  • @TheBite2020

    @TheBite2020

    3 жыл бұрын

    I've only ever caught one founder down there in the years fishing it, I'm sure they're in there and I see lots of little flat fish at night , (not sure what kind, dabs maybe)... The real problem is the crab population is pretty serious and they eat your bait before any kinda flat fish can get anywhere near it... but maybe throwing little flounder jigs or slow trolling or something... IDK

    Please don't stick your hand in the gills of those fish that need to be released. They may not die immediately, but, it's quite likely for them to get infected and die later!! But what do I know, I'm only a fish pathologist. There are devices for picking them up by the lower "lip"!!

    I'm not dissing anybody but it is a legitimate question. I'd say it's just a great combo. Whatever the reason, it worked though. Well done fellas! I would also love to get some tips on actual technique of after the cast... slow retrieval and jigging or just resting on the bottom in a certain location in relation to the rocks? Thanks again!
