Oreck XL - Routine Service Tune Up

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Trash picked this vacuum, the owner said he thought his daughter messed up the brush or something, but it works fine.. This service is pretty much the same for all Oreck vacuums. These vacs are delightfully simple. Both the roller and belts can be found on amazon.

    Thanks for the video! I just serviced an Oreck and your video (and the Oreck designer) made it easy-peasy. Now I have to go watch that Kirby repair video because my late mom used to have one of those in the 70s and it seemed like it weighed 200 pounds! Thanks again!

    Orecks are really good vacuums. And I used to hear the commercials on the radio of how all the hotels used them. I trashpicked a Kirby a few years ago--wish I'd kept it. Our mobile home park has its spring bulk junk pickup in May so I'll have to get in the Ranger and go treasure hunting! lol

    I found one like that at one of my jobs recently! It was in the furnace loft, so someone had to climb a ladder to tend the furnace. The vacuum that I found also had a full inner bag, and the zipper of the outer bag was stiff. I turned it on, but it still sounded okay.

    Just picked up a Oreck XL for $5 plus 6 new bags for $1. I really like the fact that it is very light and the performance is great. As soon as I am done with another vacuum tune-up I will give it a good clean and remove string from the roller brush.

    I trash picked the same Oreck xl model and mine was also built in 2000. Repacked the same parts plus the outer bag due to a bad rubber seal. Like a new vacuum now. My parents actually bought an Oreck around 2000 and I serviced that one with a new beater brush and theirs runs like new too.

    Great Job Hank!! I Can Now Do The Same With My Used Oreck XL Given To Me. I Especially Liked How You Showed Every Step Of Replacing The Parts And Reinstalling Them. I Was Going To Take It To Be Tuned Up And Cleaned But I Feel I Can Do It Myself Now. However It Does Need A New Power Cord, As Its Damaged And Wrapped With Electric Tape, But I Dont Trust Its Safe From Fire. I Wish You Would Show How To Do That Too If You Could Do It. Or Does It Need A Service Call For That?

    +hanksranger Haha, that's how I learned my self! Are these Orecks good? I had a neighbor who highly praised this model and said you can put scents in it or something to not make it smell bad when your vacuuming. I'm going to be on the lookout for one of these, really like the design.

    ChicagoSirens I have seen people bash them for apparently going thru belts fast... belts are cheap though a few bucks for a couple on amazon and they are simple to change out, especially on the newer ones takes either 5min or 10min. Even so the belts should last any normal user 6 months or so, atleast that is when oreck says to change them. Its a good vac though, it handled that throw rug in the garage like a champ and that thing was full of dirt.

    How strong do you have to be to stretch the belt far enough to even get close to the brush roller end? I have the right belt. It says Oreck Upright Vacuum Cleaners on the outside, with official Oreck logo and it is 0300604. I have cleaned everything meticulously and combed the brushes, as I can't afford new parts at the moment. But, now I am thoroughly discouraged because I can't stretch the belt enough to get it on. Is there a tool or something that can be used to stretch the belt on for people strength "challenged?" I checked and the package the belt came in was still sealed tight before I opened it, so I don't believe the belt rubber could have dried out to the point that its not stretching as it should. Anyone else have that problem? I am not as young or as strong as I used to be, but I haven't noticed that being a problem before. Thank you, in advance, to anyone kind enough to share some tips about replacing and stretching the belt. Taylor :-)

    You can try and use a flat head screwdriver and carefully pull the belt onto the pulley on the brush then rotate the brush roll to help it on.

    My Oreck xl does not work when installing the new roller brush with the metal end that the belt attaches to. It runs for about 3-5 seconds and then stops. It will run with the old brush with the plastic part (as opposed to the new aluminum? part) that the belt surrounds. Can someone tell what causes this? It seems as though the metal one causes it to short out for some reason.

  • @ryans_small_engine97

    @ryans_small_engine97

    Your model has a speed sensor for the brush. The plastic part style has a metal nub in the roller it picks up for rotation. The metal part style roller with no nub will work with a non sensor model
