The dacon scoop ! I used to hate this exercise, slow and boring, especially if you were on nightwatch and all you want to do is sleep a bit. Lol. Them were the days. Whats the cash like out there now, wasn't particularly great when I was there, earn much more now as a decorator but I do miss working on the sea

Ever see the og 1980 movie, "The Fog," directed by John Carpenter? Now THAT's creepy! 1st thing that came to mind when I saw that long, low fogbank, seemingly rolling in from out of nowhere. Also, I was thinking, high-traffic day along yr water-way, then remembered this was compiled over a month's time. D'oh! The gentleman shipmate w/the shopping bag always gives me giggles. So grateful for a glimpse of those majestic orcas - may they feed well, yet steer clear the trawlers. Hope Albert finds a special surprise in his locker, travel-pack, Ex-mass stocking or ruckscack next month!

Mrs H said “Do you remember that film where that fog bank rolled in? It was called The Mist, or something” 😂😂 The chap with the carrier bag is Alec. It’s his story that I hope to do next trip. And Our Albert? As long as he gets his pie from the butcher for Christmas Day, he’ll be happy.
@TheSWolfe
2 жыл бұрын
@@Bigwavemaster1 Mrs. H is correct, just on a diff't track movie-wise than I. There are 3 "Mist" movies: 1980's "Moodu Pani," 1988's "Mist," 2007's "The Mist," based on Stephen King's 1980 novella of the same name, plus 2017's "The Mist," a 10-episode tv series also based on King's novella. A 2005 remake of "The Fog" (from my previous comment), Rupert Wainwright, director, didn't fare so well, only winning 2 awards, both for how bad it was. LoL! Oh goodie! I look fwd to Alec's tale. I take it, since coming from the butcher, that Albert's pie won't be of the fruit or meringue variety, but some sort of traditional mincemeat, steak & kidney, shepherd's, or other rib-stickin' hamhock, turkey or beefy creation. Someday I'll get to try an authentic Cornish pasty (on my bucket list along with the visit).

@@TheSWolfe Na! She meant The Fog 😂 Alec has had quite the life. From Royal Navy to Deep Sea Diver to this job he has spent over 60 years at sea!! He still goes away in the rescue boats most morning. Albert? Steak pie every time.
@TheSWolfe

@@Bigwavemaster1 Well, Mrs H, I tried. Easy to get confused, as there are so many of similar title & plot, plus remakes! Wow, Aleck - impressive resume, mate! & quite the character, I'd wager, if after over 60 yrs on the job, he's still got that cheeky glint in his eye. Sounds yum, Albert. I take back the stocking/rucksack wish tho. A nice steak pie would get all mushed up in one o' those!

@@TheSWolfe Oh, Alec has still got that glint in his eye. He’s 79 going on 29 🙄 I wouldn’t worry about the condition of Albert’s pie either. I bought him a pie in Lerwick to eat that night but he decided to take it home instead. Two days later, after 2 busses and one flight, it had even survived the baggage handlers to be eaten for his supper.
Thank you!
