@vickisummer74 It stated in the video that the orca was a 60 year old grandmother. The orca in question is obviously known to the researcher's who made the video, hence why they recognised her as being a 60 year old grandmother. She may have been tagged or identified through the researcher's archives. I suggest that you personally contact them if you think otherwise. They might be interested in your claim. Heck, if you're correct, you could even be offered a position as a marine biologist with your wealth of marine knowledge. 😉

The shark didn't see it coming until the moment before impact. The whale is aware of the sharks field of vision, and took it by surprise. Then it ate its liver, which, I have heard, is up to a third of its total weight, the most nutritious part. (The whale must have got quite a smack in the face, hitting at that speed, presumably with its mouth open. I expect it probably lost some teeth doing so.) I suppose white sharks prey on juvenile orcas.

They were so fast, gliding by with silent speed. We did see their prey occasionally flying through the air with a powerful tail swat. No doubt, they're in charge. I've also fished Guadalupe Island as an adult, seeing many giant great whites there. The great whites are massive, toothy critters that humans have no chance against. Please stop. All white sharks look small next to an orca. Orca's average size is 23 to 32 feet long, depending on age and sex. Orcas weigh 13 to 16 thousand pounds. The largest shark ever found was 25 feet long and around 5 thousand pounds. White Sharks' average size is 13 to 15 feet long and four thousand pounds. They are no match for even an elderly female Orca

My favorite thing about Orcas is how they truly seem self-aware of the fact that they are the most badass killing machine in the ocean. So they're generally very cool calm and collected because they instinctively know, no one can mess with them.

I noticed this too about orcas. I cant really say what i base my opinion on, but they do seem to be aware of how strong they are. Maybe its the way they act around humans and small prey. Nevertheless, its very impressive and very unique. I cant think of a predator that seems to be this self-aware in that sense. It also makes them also cooler too

Why on earth anyone would think a great white could take on an adult orca - easily twice as long and three times the weight, is just bonkers. A great white is nothing to an orca. The body mass and muscle of an orca versus a great white, is similar to comparing a fully grown male African elephant to an adult male hippo. The elephant would absolutely stomp the hippo every single time. They're incomparable in terms of competition.
