Right! It’s not even just the Russian accent itself, but her voice that she used throughout the series was much deeper & harsher than her regular speaking voice. That’s a lot of strain to have on one’s voice.

When Voyager came on my wife had me a pizza each ep. She did that for at least the first season. I can recall sitting in the middle of the bed eating pizza and watching Voyager. She passed away Jan. Got my memories....not really enough .Miss her. 31 years little soulmate.

My first thought was "jeez that is a lot of pizza". But then I remembered back then we watched 1 episode a week. I discovered the series by binging it on Amazon and taking a few months to get through the whole series. It's hard to remember that 6 years were going by while I am binging. Sorry for your loss.

I think she's a great example of how a woman can be sexy not solely based on her looks. Don't get me wrong, Capt. Janeway is a beautiful woman, but she was also strong, smart, assertive and a great leader, which made her even sexier.

I so love this lady. What an actress. What a teacher. (Also, what a Star Fleet captain!)

I've watched DS9, Enterprise and Voyager and some of the two originals and I must say her Captain was the closest to what I would imagine the Star Trek Universe would have. Janeway was intelligent, strong and dedicated character but also full of compassion and empathy and understanding. She displayed power when it was needed to and was your best friend in times of fun. Her relations with crew was spot on for me, especially with Kim. She didn't looked down on anyone and seemed equal to others while still being Captain and having respect. All this yet she never was Mary Sue, she relied on others and we saw her struggle multiple times. I think It's just the best portrayal of ideal Captain in the Star Trek Universe and very good portrayal of "strong independent woman" that even the men like :) oh and by the way I love the little smirk she made every now and then.

Voyager was my first Star Trek show I was watched on it's first run and boy, did she impress me. I never even thought about doubting a female captain. Captain Janeway had to make the toughest calls of all Captains and carry them out with will, dignity, passion and confidence and boy, she did!

James, this lady is the reason I took a look at OITNB. I'd heard of this new show (on this new thing called Netflix, whatever that was), but when I read Kate Mulgrew was part of the ensemble cast, I checked it out ... for seven years. However, she'll always be Captain Janeway to me.

I guess with Star Trek it is like it is with Doctor Who. Every Whovian has "their Doctor", the one they liked and sympathized the most with and every Star Trek Fan has "their Captain". Mine is Captain Janeway , my best friend prefers Captain Picard. No heated argument needed.

Her Star Trek character is just as bad ass as Red is. I was a kid when she became Captain and Star Trek fans loved her.

Kate Mulgrew: nothing but love and respect for her.

Janway's imprint was so powerful I didn't realize how much I'd seen Mulgrew throughout her career.

Captain Janeway will always have a big place in my heart next to Jean-Luc Picard! two of the all time legends of star trek!

Real Trek fans as myself didn't even bat an eye at the idea of a female captain of a Star Ship. X gen had the idea of equality drilled into us so it's like please it's the "future" so it should be normal.

(Orange is the New Black Spoilers!!) Having seen every episode of Voyager with her and then seeing Kate Mulgrew in the last season of Orange is the new Black was heartbreaking. Seeing this person, who I knew as the great Captain Janeway who lead her crew home, slowly loosing her memories in prison... Man. It hurt. Although it's just acting and although they are two different characters, I saw them as the same person.

Helo such a great actor to be able to play two such strong parts. Took me a while to realise Kate was Janeway due to her inhabiting Red so well.

I remember when i was a kid, watching Cheers and the Simpsons, one day i turned of Star trek Voyager and was entranced by her.

Janeway was such a great captain....other than threatening to self destruct Voyager every six or so episodes lol

I been watching orange is the new black all these years and never knew that was Janeway. I’m lose!!

I was surprised there was no acknowledgement of her voiceover work, I’m a big Dragon Age fan and Flemeth is a stand out performance. But then looking back on 7 years on Star Trek and another 7 on Orange and you see a few weeks of voiceover work is a drop in the ocean

I would, but only if she had consistent writers.

If I had to pick a Starfleet Captain to serve under, it would be Janeway. The Borg: “ resistance is futile” Janeway: “You have one of my crew members.”

I've never seen any of her movies/shows but this is the second interview of hers I've watched today. Im just entranced by the sheer elegance of this woman.

Her voice is so distinct; it has a sharp grace

Many of my favorite episodes come from DS9, but there are many things I did not like about the show. It's all give and take and Janeway wins for me, with Picard next and then Kirk. :)

That was absolutely wonderful. Eleven minutes of the most heartfelt and meaningful talk. Especially for someone who learned " Danny Boy" from Maeve Ryan singing atop the bar on Ryan's Hope and loved the Delta Quadrant Adventures. You both were sensational, thank you.

I love you so much Kate Mulgrew! Captain Janeway made me watch Star Trek for the first time. Currently " Voyager" is on British TV and I'm still crazy about it, even though I have seen it God knows how many times. The best Captain in Star Trek for me.😍😍😍😍😍 Love " Voyager", love Janeway.💖💖💖

You guys seemed so comfortable with each other. This was worth watching, no cringe, just genuine feelings and fun between 2 beautiful women seemed like!!!!!!

Janeway (and Vouager as a whole) deserved more consistent writing, but Kate was fantastic regardless!

I have had the pleasure to meet this woman, I grow up with her on voyager and meeting her was amazing, I have never stopped smiling since that day, love this woman.

A truly exceptional actress, a complicated and immensely thoughtful woman, who has lived a wonderful rollercoaster life and career. Her life is such a spectrum of everything; pain and love, sucesses and failures, tragedy and redemption. What a remarkable woman. Id love to just sit and have tea with her, her strength reminds me a lot of my grandmothers character.

Her resemblance to Katherine Hepburn - voice, manner, looks, personality - is UNCANNY. And a terrific actress in her own right.

I am a male conservative. I did not care if she was male or female. Captain Janeway was a great character and a great captain and Kate Mulgrew did a great job!

Wonderful woman, had the pleasure of meeting her at a backstage party at a ST convention and had a long chat with her (not long after she reunited with her daughter who she beamed when she spoke about). forever my Captain!

Growing up and seeing her as a Star Trek captian was more powerful than I have even realized until I saw her on OITNB. For Millennial women, she is part of the fabric of our confidence in never doubting that we are capable of what a man can accomplish. We have to work even harder as it is like going against the flow of a river while the men float along.

It’s funny I’m just catching these now Kate Mulgrew is one of my favorites she’s beautiful smart and a very good actress would like to someday meet her we shall see I still watch Voyager every day love it of course that’s not the only one I watch all the star tracks I also watch all the Stargate anything about space I love.

I love kate.Such a good actress.I guess this really ages me.She played a strong Irish woman in Ryan's Hope. I loved Mary Ryan.It broke my heart when she left that role. I am so glad she mentions Claire Labine. One of the great writers of daytime. To this day, Ryan's Hope is still perfection and is still my favourite daytime Soap. There was no opportunity to record the show back then.Are then any episodes still floating around?

From the time I was 4 I wanted to be just like Captain Janeway. I prayed every night for those guys to travel back in time and beam me up. I even cut my long long hair to like Kate. She was my hero. She was the first women I had ever seen to be portrayed so powerfully. She had more whit, strength and cunning than good ol' Capt. Kirk had in his pinky finger. If it wasn't for Janeway, I would definitely not be the women I am today. Thanks Kate for literally being one of the greatest influences in my life. Your own strength and smarts transends through your characters, inspiring many young women just like myself. I look forward to many great works in the future

It was seeing Kate Mulgrew name on a show called orange is the new black, that got me curious about the show, and I became addicted not straight away I must admit, but I've binge watched this show, i'm half way through season 3 at the minute, but what saddens me a little is that if I hadn't seen Kate Mulgrews name I probably wouldn't have watched it, as it's not the kinda show i'd watch,and I would have been a lesser person for missing such an amazing show,All the actors and actresses are amazing and believable, the wroters are brilliant, the show has such character depth, not seen in other shows, the way it flashes back into characters lives before prison is superb, I don't have a favourite character on the show, as I feel this may diminish the other fine actresses and actors, alls I can say is they are ALL leaving an impression upon me. I'll remember this show for a very long time and thank you Kate Mulgrew for accepting a role in the show..when I think sometimes my job can be difficult, it doesn't compare to having to speak Russian on camera. Back to another episode I think.
