I went to a majority white university and did my papers on African American leaders. When I did mine on Ms Angela Davis I received a B. Not that my paper was not up to par, it was rather good. I had my cousin who is a professor at Rutgers University proof read it. She stated the research and the information included and the passion for what I was writing should bring an A. I had to argue with the professor at my university as to why I got a B and not an A, I was told I did not choose a hero but yet I chose Angela Davis, a murder, a communist, etc. I explained to my professor, my heroes aren’t on stamps, they look like me not you. Some aren’t invited to colleges to speak, most are already dead due to the racism in our-society. So one of my hero is Angela Davis. She’s a feminist, author, philosopher and educator. She was on America’s 10 most wanted list in the 1970, went to prison for only 18 months because she was accused of killing a judge. With all that, she is my hero. She never allowed the system to break her. For a murder charge for a black persons to be let go after 18 month of jail service, the government had their hands in that case. So Angels Davis is my hero. My heroes look like me. I dedicated ALL my college papers to my people to the education of people who look like you sir. Ms Davis is an educator, I speak of her til this today, I speak and have wrote about other civil rights leaders, educators, feminist, authors, who are my heroes and who care about minorities. I have wrote my papers on great leaders to include but not limited to: Malcolm, Garvey, Huey Newton, Toni Morrison, Dr Cornel West PH.d, Everett, and my list goes on and on. To all who have died at the hands of this racist government, not wanting minorities to speak for what they believe was the best interest of minorities, my heroes who are alive and still speaking for minorities rights and educating on our history and to our future leaders to come, I want to THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. You sacrifice for your people, you educate your people. Much love and respect to all.

FAIR has supported Trump’s border wall, mass deportations, concentration camps, and other violent and racist policies. Carnell, by associating with white supremacist groups, is pushing for material gains for Black Americans by targeting undocumented people.” from leftvoice.org I’m for reparations AND major structural change to the system. A more eloquent spokesman for reparations and HR40 is Ta-Nahesi Coates, who actually gave testimony before Congress on the bill. I will argue with my white friends in favor of reparations till I’m out of breath. But unlike Yvette, I’m not anti-immigrant. How prophetic is this? Almost 50 years ago, she’s warning us about what we’re facing now. Of course, this was right after Nixon’s re-election and right before Watergate, which slowed down his ability to pursue his calculated fascist tendencies, so I’m sure eased some of stress everyone felt, at least for a minute. But she was so incredibly ahead of time calling out capitalism and big corporations, trying to communicate to white people that corporate exploitation was the problem, not black people-that was what those in power always did and still do-divide and conquer. The depressing thing as I hear her brilliant speech, is knowing what was to come only 8 years down the road: Ronald Reagan was elected president in 1980-a nightmare. Every single thing she was speaking about got MUCH MUCH worse under the 12 years of Reagan & Bush Sr, 8 years of neoliberal Clinton merging the Democratic Party with Wall Street, Bush Jr’s 8 years, etc etc, until the wealth gap is far wider, unions are almost nonexistent, police are still killing black people, and a full on White Supremacist is tearing the country apart. I still follow Angela Davis, and just saw her on Democracy Now, and it was fantastic to hear her extremely positive and hopeful take on the BLM protests! God, I hope that the time for BIG CHANGE has finally come. She has worked so hard for social justice her whole freakin life. An absolute ICON.

Black people need their slavery reparations for 400 years of slavery & free labor that black ancestors went through. Black people must get paid for all these years of free labor.

No, reparations is not owed to black people only. Latinos have been here building this country as well from day one. We have been in slavery for over 600 years!

@@LatinosUnidos. That's a false statement you made without a fact. All Latinos ask Spain for reparations & don't compare black struggles to yours because you mistreat Afro- Latinos because they're dark skin in your home countries worse than the white men.

How in the fuck is that relevant or has even has any bearing on her ideas and arguments? Only an intellectually deficient moron who has no ability to reason orto actually argue with a persons ideas and arguments on their own merits would make such an exceedingly irrelevant argument and think that it's somehow "the greatest argument ever". The fact of the matter is that loads of black americans are descended from white slavers, precisely because RAPE is a part of how slavery works. or did that not occur to you in your pea brain cluster of neurons?
