Opposed Piston Diesel Engine explained | A comprehensive animation.

The Achates Power two.stroke heavy duty opposed-piston engine is highly efficient.
Alternate language Español • Cómo funciona un Motor...
An inside look in 3D detailed animation at this #car #engine with a design that positions two pistons per cylinder-working in opposite, reciprocating motion. This eliminates parts including the cylinder head and valve train, improving overall engine efficiency as these components are considered primary contributors to heat and friction losses. The cylinder head and valve train systems are also among the most complex and costly elements of conventional engines. The two-stroke cycle compounds the efficiency benefits of the opposed-piston engine architecture. With this cycle, each combustion event is shorter in duration and, therefore, closer to optimum timing as compared to four-stroke engines. Two-stroke engines are also smaller in displacement and size compared to four-stroke engines for similar performance.

phenomenal engineering and ingenious design, functionality ‼️👊🔥🥂
You explained very little about the benefits of this engine, how they are achieved and the engineering that makes this great.
Fairbanks-Morse used this configuration forever.
Motor 2 tempos de pistões opostos é uma máquina excelente.
yes, bring it to market, last year, put it in everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Si fuese tan eficiente por qué no se masifico en la industria automotriz sobre todo en los camiones...
What about oil consumption/emissions from rings going over intake ports

Yes, piston ported engines will always be heavier on oil consumption. In my opinion quite acceptable given the enormous combustion efficiency gains.
This is a highly modified Detroit Diesel.
how the lubrication works for the upper crankshaft?

The same way it works for the camshaft bearings in a normal engine: oil pump and tubes for oil to be pumped to it.
The Commer TS3 is king
This is not a new idea. The German aircraft company Junkers was using a six cylinder version of this motor in a seaplane they were building before the start of WWII. The same motor was being used in commercial passenger aircraft that could fly non-stop from Germany to Argentina because they were so fuel efficient. The narrator of this video said the US military has been using this type of motor for 80 years. Since just after WWII. This is a technology that the US government has been keeping from the public all that time! This is something environmentalists should be upset about. Just think about how many billions of less barrels of fuel that would have been burned if the semi truck manufacturers had of started putting motor's like this in trucks right after WWII! A smaller version could have been used in cars too. The oil companies are, no doubt, the one's that actually behind keeping it suppressing it and still are, as far as I can tell. The Achates motor has been developed for about 10 years now and I still don't see it being offered or advertised in anything. Achates has or at least did have a video on KZread about it. He says in his video that his motor's are just an improved version of the Junkers motor. He has a 3 cylinder motor he developed to fit in full size pickup trucks and a 6 cylinder for semi trucks. I'm sure truck driver's, pickup driver's and car driver's would all love to buy a vehicle that gets 50% better mileage! But, the oil companies would loose billions per year in sales and the public would be able to keep all those billions of dollars. They can't have that!!!
Why? Doesn:t What? Think that thtough a bit. Let us know if u come up with an answet. Gov allow what?
Why doesn't the gov allow this tech? Shameful
