OPPORTUNITY | A Stone's Sheep Bow Hunting Story 2023

Ойын-сауық

There is nothing quite like sheep hunting. This year my friend Chad and I headed to Northern B.C. to chase Stone’s Sheep with our bows. This is the story of how our adventure unfolded.

Nice videos, thanks for posting. It's been 40 years since i hunted a stone. Things have changed. I congratulate you for working so hard. I was lucky to take a 40 inch ram and on a couple other successful ram hunts with others. I would never have tried this with a bow. You guys deserve a ram far more than I did. Cheers from Yukon. Btw I took my ram on the last day of the season, think Oct 20. There was 6 inches of snow. Later may be better. Guessing your not in the Rockies

The wrap up analysis was spot on considering the two halves of a hunt and maximizing opportunities. I know I often want to let the hunt come to me while the real predators amongst us pounce and make something happen when the situation is close enough they can create success. This might be my favourite film of yours so far. I enjoy your hunt films probably more than any other hunting content out there and your sheep hunting films are definitely the ones I look forward to the most. I’m definitely biased because Stone’s sheep and Stone’s sheep country are my favourite quarry and setting… but yeah, fantastic stuff! Finding that balance between the presence of game and minimal pressure is definitely the trick. That country you were in is super cool… definitely prime sheep habitat. Looking forward to your coming hunts! All the best as the season continues 🤙🏻

Another great film. I say congrats because it was your best sheep hunt yet. I like how you reflect on the emotions and can work Thru it. I know I gave in/ gave up on a backcountry elk hunt and the whole ride home from Wyoming…I thought I should have stayed in it for that last 1.5 days. I listened to guys get into a herd my last day less than a mile away I’m guessing as I sat there about 1500 feet below them thinking dammit as the sun was fading out.

I don't know if you have heard about this or not but i have an older hunting guide friend that talked about hitting 2 rocks together to bring sheep to him. This especially worked in the seep rut. It is supposed to imitate the horns hitting each other.

Hi Jay, Excellent job on this one mate. You can't win them all but still would've been awesome hunting in that country. I did notice on some camera angles that the top of your backpack frame looked really low like in line with your neck. Is that normal because the top of my k4 frame is in line with my ears. Thats with it unloaded though. Just curious if I have made an error with my newly purchased k4 pack. Thanks mate and keep up the great work

Next time you're up North here, try being polite and respectful to those you come across, maybe you'll have more success. Best wishes on your next hunt from here in Northern B.C.❤️

I don’t disagree that I should not have lost my temper with those two dudes but I ran into 8 other hunters on that trip and had great, helpful conversations with all of them. I still see no excuse to walk up the front of a hill in broad daylight to talk to two other hunters who are clearly sitting on sheep less than 100 yards away. That’s just a ridiculous thing to do no matter what weapon you are carrying. They were camped less than 1km from my tent. Why not just come over for a chat that evening?
