Ophthalmology Portfolio That Got Me Into ST1 Training
This is my ophthalmology portfolio that I submitted for my ophthalmology St1 interview. I scored 73/100 points for my portfolio and scored 3/3 for the overall portfolio layout and quality section. I thought I’d show you my ophthalmology portfolio, because I found that looking at other portfolios while assembling mine gave me a better idea about how I should be organising and presenting it for the ophthalmology interview.
I organised my portfolio into sections as per the evidence folder guidelines on the Severn deanery website. severndeanery....
The sections are:
- List of previous posts
- Qualifications with certificates or letter of proof
- Prizes/Awards with proof
- Ophthalmology specialty links and commitment to date as a career
- Multi-source feedback
- Publications
- Quality improvement/Audit projects
- Presentations
- Education and teaching
The main thing is to gather your evidence as you achieve something, and make sure you get a signed letter or certificate to prove it (otherwise you may else well not have done it)! Hope the video’s helpful!

many thanks, useful video :) big congrats on getting a training post also !!
Thank you, this is very helpful. I’m a GEM student at the moment, but I’ve switched career to specifically become an ophthalmologist. So planning to pick up things to put into my portfolio as I progress through medical school and foundation program.

Yes they generally do issue certificates of attendance! You could try finding some ophthal talks on the royal society of medicine site?

@@eveyclay Thank you for your reply. For submitting an abstract to a conference, do I have to find a consultants for the idea of the abstract? Or can I browse ideas and find data myself online?
👍👍
