Opeth - The Making of Blackwater Park (Read desc)
Музыка
Please read: This was originally the 2/4 Part of the documentary. All the other parts were copyright claimed by Sony Music Entertainment as well as other greedy cumstains. Part 1 and 3 were blocked, but part 4 was outright deleted. I'm sorry for the inconvenience but this is out of my control. I know it's not right to rip documentaries from a DVD to KZread, but I wanted to show it to the community and it was fun while it lasted. Thanks for watching and commenting. More info below.
Part 1 (Unlisted): • Opeth - The Making of ...
Part 3 (Unlisted): • Opeth - The Making of ...
Documentary directed by Fredrik Odefjärd
The Making of documentary from Opeth's Blackwater Park Legacy Edition DVD. It sheds some light into the production of the album and gives some insight to the thoughts of the band aswell as Steven Wilson who helped producing the record.

This is fantastic, I've been a fan of Opeth for 20+ years and I've never seen this footage. It is this feeling of nostalgia mixed with the past, where you had to wait patiently for your friends to buy the record and gather around and listening to it for the first time. Thank you.

You're welcome. I'm sorry the rest of the documentary isn't up anymore. The other parts were copyright claimed years ago. Seeing comments like yours is the reason I uploaded this in the first place. Thanks.

7:19 - That's why I love Opeth, and what's missing from their latest three offerings. Genius.
"people seem to believe that I'm sitting in a forest with my guitar praying to the moon". that would be awesome if Mike actually did write songs that way.
Seeing Mikael play those acoustic parts from Bleak and Harvest by himself without the rest of the band is fucking amazing..

Holy cow it's a twenty years younger Steven Wilson. Good thing he worked with them on the album.
I love Opeth so much....
Mikaels face was a lot rounder than it is now
7:20 - 7:30 One of the best transitions ever!
so opeth is pretty much akerfeldt's musical child?

That chorus theme to bleak is so awesome. It sounds like the greatest cradle of filth riff dani filth wish he wrote. Very “black metally” and epic.

I know this comment is almost a year late but if you're still wondering what these tom mics are -> sennheiser md421's which are really common on toms (and other percussions) and sound really good on em :)

@Bassbait The part where the distorted guitars come in in Moonchild is very similar to the part of Blackwater Park he's listening to when he says "Moonchild".
@Bassbait Well, like Mikael said in an interview, stuff like Iron Maiden and other metal they've listened in their youth will always be on the back of their mind when they're writing music, and then they just add elements from other genres like prog, which is what makes their music so special.
I love that i just started singing moonchild from Iron Maiden 4:29
FUCKKK why are the other parts deleted? :(
@Cysquatching The Legacy Edition also includes 5.1 mixes of all the songs. :)
@ciffi It's from the song Bleak, middle acoustic part ;)

@ciffi It's from the song "Bleak" on BP :) The middle section ^^
@mule71 Oh? Thanks for the info. :)
@Sodhats mhm... quite interesting :P after having seen mikael speak in interviews and on stage, i can confirm, he does have an enourmous head. i think its also enormous because of the amounts of brilliant musical diarrhea he forces out of there every 2 years. Opinions of Devil's Orchard by the way? I was skeptical, but it hacked my brain after a day...
@ImAStupidBoy Blackwater park, the title track, and @englundisgod the solo is from the funeral portrait

@pantalaemon I have a theory that large heads allow for more resonance and therefore make for richer, deeper voices. If you look at a lot of great singers you'll see they have enormous heads. I have no evidence to back up this theory. It's basically a thing I made up.
Any sound engineers or audio people out there know what mics they're using on the toms? You can see from 1:40 - 2:40. The toms had a great sound on the album.

Yes sir, it's on Blackwater Park. It's The Funeral Portrait. Listen from 7:35 onward. Yes, seriously. That actually freaked me out a little bit that the part you're looking for is exactly in the same spot both in the song and this video. Crazy coincidence.
