Ska now more than ever! Op Ivy definitely set the bar for third wave ska/punk.

as a BayArea native, I’m so grateful to have seen OpIv five times. also that I had such good taste in music as a teenager with the foresight to not miss seeing them play. Often forgotten are all the other bands and individuals that didn’t make it

I get so happy and involved when I watch these vids. It's so detrimental for enthusiasts to keep the music alive by not only playing the music and spreading the word but actually discussing it's amazing relevance and the stories!I can't stop saying it man. Your channel rules!

Great podcasting! I guess we all agree that those kids were near perfection, and even the way it ended (and all that followed after with Tim and Matt) just made it even more iconic. 87-89, and that's it. Perfection! Great episode!

Good takes guys! Was lucky to see them all over the bay. More lucky when they came to the north bay. Yeah, Rancid went off, Jesse did Common Rider, Classics of Love. But, y’all overlooked Dave Mello! Formed Schlong (many records), Jewdriver, Kicker and probably doing something today

Yeah I forget to mention him all the time. It's not intentional, I feel bad tbh, lol

Its funny how much I love Rancid and listen to them everyday but it somehow slips my mind that Tim started one of the most important punk bands of all time way before I even heard my first punk record. Lol

its between Operation ivy and a band from bath UK called culture shock which was dick lucas's after subhumans ska punk band with their "onwards and upwards" record (both came out the same year), for best ska punk record for me.

I havent heard that in so long I forgot about it... more of a straight Ska record, no? I feel like.after listening to Op Ivy again that they're more a punk band with ska in it. A legit formation of the Skunk subgenre. I need to go listen to Culture Shock again tho, I could be wrong about it. I only heard it a few times, I'm glad you reminded me it existed! 👊😎🏴‍☠️ ain't no way I can remember everything about this music, lol EDIT - I misread your comment, you called it a ska-punk record 🤦 I'm going to listen to it now and maybe do a video on it. I'll credit you for the idea, homie

Dick was also in another band called Citizen Fish, which was pretty good too.

Op Ivy and The Jam are two bands that could have cashed in with a reunion tour but have the integrity not to do so.

Yeah, I feel likena lot of bands it doesn't come off super lame but with a band like this, that broke up for reasons they broke up, it would be pretty weird for then to cash in on a reunion tour
