1:03 was amazing because of the volume control
The Bb5 is I believe the most important note in a female Opera singer. I comes more often than any other high note. It is a beautiful note!

I've always loved Montserrat! In my opinion she is one of the Greats along with Callas and Sutherland. Her breath control is what she's known for but her volume control in this particular clip was also outstanding!!!

Agreed - except I don’t love Callas. 😅 Never got why she is seen the best ever…impressive she was, sure. But the best? I just don’t see it…there is just something that I don’t like with her voice. Sutherland I like and Caballé I just adore.

WOW! The High B-flat really is the money note! Great job!
I can pick Moffo's voice out of a compilation anywhere! Her voice is so beautifully warm.
Im just gonna say that you chose a note of Callas when she was SICK AS A DOG. But anyways, great compilation, I appreciate the hard work. Thank you.

Rafael Araújo It's totally fine! She was really scared before the performance (Hamburg '58) because she knew something bad was gonna happen.. But after all, it was a good performance. I recommend you listen to her 1953 Medea in Firenze, or any performance from the 1949 - 1955 period.

By 1958 Callas could no longer sing a steady high Bb even when she wasn’t sick.
my favorites are Ponselle, Sutherland, Nilsson, Callas , Tebaldi ,Price and Galli Curci
😍😍😍 Finally he is back with another amazing work... Excellente as usually... That's the music of soul O. P.E.R.A bellissima
I couldn’t pick a favorite - they’re all so good! I had once dreamed of being an opera singer, but life took me in another direction. I’m not sure I was good enough anyway. But oh to sing like that again!

I’m sure you were great! You should continue and sing again, I am studying to become one and it gives me so much joy! You should experience that joy again as well🤗
Lots of wonderful high notes here - Caballe, Callas, Deutekom, Vaness, Norman, Sutherland and Freni all made an impact with that one note.
Montserrat sounded as though she could float that B flat forever. Her breath control going from a fortissimo to pianissimo rivaled the best of them. Even Callas admired her.
I was waiting so long for this ❤️

I will go up to at least the High G
Montserrat Caballé ❤
Too many of them just throw the voice up and land on the note (mostly on pitch) but are far from in control of it. Marton, Nilsson, Zeani, Sutherland, Rothenberger, Cotrubas, Caballe are in control of their instrument and make it sound easy!
Minunat Exceptional
Do a higher note please, so we could all spare ourselves from seeing comments about how a pop singer is able to belt the note better
@resurgingflame

This isn't even belting. They all did it in operatic headvoice lol.
Birgit Nilsson 7:35 Erika Miklosa 4:19 Were my favs. Edit: and 5:19 CABALLE was excellent
Niente da togliere a nessuno, tutto questo bel canto non esiste più, erano la completezza totale❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤✋✋✋
Wow I love how comfortable this note is for them; quite effortless and beautiful! It's amazing that *Sohyang* can belt this out in a balanced mix!
Sills, Caballé and Te Kanawa are my favorite
1. Very constricted and unbridled. 2. Beautifully controlled 3. A bit wild towards the end but decently produced 4. Natural squillo, but a bit tense 5. A bit of a mess 6. Ethereally exquisite 7. A bit open, not enough squillo 8. Lovely, throbbing vibrato. 9. A tad screamy 10. Could be cleaner, feel like the sound is a bit too metallic 11. Not bad at all 12. Good intonation 13. A bit forced but decently managed 14. Too thin for my liking 15. Beautiful use of dynamics 16. Could've done without the scooping 17. Too much vibrato, sounds unsteady 18. Great attack on the High Bb5 19. Another slight scoop but very dramatic, reverberating sound 20. Gorgeously full upper register so i can ignore the scoop. 21. Not as smooth as others, but very passionate 22. Attempts a messa di voce that isn't quite successful 23. Sounds like someone stood on the dog 24. Gentle and gorgeous 25. Strident but powerful 26. Terrific squillo 27. Takes a while to take off but impressive when it does 28. Very creamy 29. Too flat and thin, doesn't sound supported 30. Not exactly the most beautiful timbre, but excellently produced 31. I can feel the voice about to wobble 32. Meh 33. Spot on 34. Sounds excruciatingly flat to my ears 35. Not her best 36. Bit of a glitch but otherwise nice 37. Again, good attack on the note 38. Laser-like accuracy 39. Sounds a bit uncomfortable 40. Divine 41. Nice agility up to the Bb5 42. Stupendous 43. Too much vibrato, too much tension, not enough control 44. Transcendent use of dynamics and terrific intonation 45. Very bright sound, but a tad pinched 46. Great, full, ringing High Bb5 47. Acidic upper register perfect for this role 48. Very feminine but wish she had refined the dynamics a little. Feels rushed. 49. Not good 50. Close to perfection Just a bit of fun guys ;)
My all time favorite is easily Montse - for me, she’s always the best. The most beautiful voice of all - and that pianissimo, feeling and ultimate control ❤ The others that I especially liked (the order is just chronological): M. Price Crespin Deutekom Hoch Moffo Battle Nilsson Zeani Sills Sutherland
Minhas queridinhas Galina Vishnevskaya e Renée Fleming ❤❤
Callas.... Just that one note acquires soo many colors even in isolation from the entire performance.... not in any was one dimensional.... love it
1:57 is what Darwin watterson is singing from the master (s6 e32) (tawog)
I sang a B flat (apparently idk notes I can’t sight read at all) and my vocal teacher was so impressed but lmao I didn’t know why
i couldn't read the second name but Ghena!!!! The fullness of the note!!!! wow

Yes. Ghena Dimitrova. She is a dramatic soprano
Madam Cabelle 👸🏻
wish you had added Julie Andrews b-flats too! The most famous soprano on film. She did high b-flats in The Boy Friend, Poppins, Sound of Music, Star!, Victor Victoria, and live on TV as well. She was also a coloratura child prodigy in England even before she made it to Hollywood and took her away from furthering her studies in Opera in Italy. A lot of the b-flats were spectacular, and the sound forever etched in our minds.

la meilleur pour la fin
Can Sohyang's fanatics just stop? Sohyang can't even be heard next to Sumi Jo; the lightest lyric soprano l've ever heard
0:45 Renata Tebaldi's High B flat's were really a force of nature. A huge wall of sound. Ravishing! Please listen to her recordings of Pace Pace Dio Mio from La Forza del destino. There's really nothing like that!
1: Cristina Deutekom for accuracy and emotion 2: Lisa Della Casa for the purest note with little vibrato 3: Leontyne Price for dramatic voice Hon. Mention of Sabine because that volume control was impressive

Rafael Araújo Great!
I'm pretty sure that wasn't Beverly Hoch singing Tosca, nor did following artist sound like Te Kanawa.
Maria Callas, Rosa Ponselle, Virginia Zeani.
Definitely Tebaldi's at my number 1, full of power and squillo.
I really don't think you can compare contemporary singers with operasingers. The goals of The styles, The sound that is wished to achieve, The techniques required to get it are completely difffrent. Mariah Carey is a Great singer, Birgit Nilsson also- within their own genre.
My favourites are Lucia Popp and Gundula Janowitz.
Please ❤?!
