She had quite a voice for a 13 year old. Still love listening to her.
She is a sweet kind and humble lady who deserves every accolade we can give her, top selling female artist of the 1960s even though she was just a teenager and definitely a rock and rock pioneer who had that amazing voice by the time she was 9 or 10, her family had great struggles as her father died when she was only 8 and the family struggled with poverty and it literally fell on her very young shoulders to sing in order to support the whole family. To get a Billboard Top 100 hit with this song 65 years after recording it at age 78 and a week later at age 79 is such a great honor for someone who earned every bit of success she had.

She is all of that.🙂 I'm so delighted that she's had this latest success and recognition - so truly deserved.
yes, her voice was amazing for her age her song I'm sorry is so soulful and melancholy people thought she was much older!
I am very happy that Brenda was able to enjoy seeing this song hit number 1, even if it did take more than 60 years, it was worth the wait.
Thanks! This song got played at our 1958 school Christmas party because someone had bought the record even though it was virtually absent from the radio. (Yes, I wore a jacket and tie, and skirts were indeed below the knee.) The song came back again for Christmas 1960 and fared somewhat better. But guess what. This song - the original 1958 recording - just hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100! 🎄

I am so glad to be learning from you and discovering artists I would not likely discover on my own. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! 🙏💖🌺🎉🥳🎶🐶
This song has been at the top of the charts the last two weeks.
I grew up in the 60s, but I never remember this song on the radio. her song "I'm Sorry" was on a lot. This song made a big comeback with the "Home Alone" movie. Glad that you did this. Merry Christmas.
In 1962, the Beatles opened for Brenda Lee on her West German show

Omg, Seriously?
This song reached #1 for the first time this year
Love the song, still can't get over her age. I never knew that before! Awesome reaction!

Her voice is so unique and she's a mere 4'11". Pint-size powerhouse.
This is definitely a Christmas staple for many! Used in many Christmas movies for sure. Covered a bunch by groups like Pentatonix. This one is still the best. So are you!
Thus, she was called "Little Miss Dynamite". You should listen to Brenda's "Sweet Nothings" . There is a version on youtube where she sings it as an Adult.
Okay, she was young and very small when she made this record, but the main thing about Brenda is that she was an original. No one else sounded like her at the time and , some might argue , no one since. She is an OG!
You need to hear her sing "I'm Sorry" and "Johnny One Time"
You should watch her on the Christmas Opry special that just came out this year they had Brenda Lee up on stage she closed out the show and she's 78 years old and she still has it
Check out Brenda's "I'm Sorry" that she recorded at 15. She sounds the same as an adult.
Christmas lives on! 🎅
If you'd like to visually see Brenda sing at a young age, you should check out a video of her singing "Dynamite". Wow!
This is one of my 2 favorite Christmas songs along with Silver Bells.
You need to hear " I'm Sorry" and "Johnny One Time"
Leann Rimes also had a mature voice when she debuted in her teens. Check out her song "Blue".

Agreed. Another one would be Tanya Tucker's "Delta Dawn"
She actually sang at a much younger age that she was when this song was recorded, around 7. She supported her family when her father died. Her voice was phenomenal even at that age. Listen to more of her songs.
Brenda was born with her own style. Go back to that time period and you won’t find anyone who preceded her that sings quite like her. She also said her family was so poor they couldn’t afford a radio or tv for her to even listen to other singers. She was unique and paved the way, especially for female singers
Whats also crazy about Ms Lee is that from about age 10, because her father had died she was the sole bread winner for the family with her singing. A class act in any book
she has a special on peacock where she is singing the same song at age 79 its on youtube right now check it out. can remember this song from when i was about 8.
Can't believe she was only 13 When she recorded this . Wow Ps She was on the Howard Stern TV show featuring her > early 90's
saw this live with you live- she was a classic singer.

I've enjoyed this this Christmas song since it first came out but never realized that Brenda-Lee was that young. Once again I receive an education from the lovely Maggie Renee'.
Maggie looks like she can't process how young she was and how mature her voice is. Merry Christmas! :)

Don't forget that Maggie lived a very sheltered life and really has no idea about popular music. She does try though.
🎄🎅🎶Christmas all year round!🎶🎅🎄 I could definitely get behind that!
One of my favorite Christmas songs I did not know she was 13 ! Thanks for posting Merry Christmas !
When we get together on Christmas day, of course we have Christmas music playing. When this song pops up in the playlist, everybody stops what they're doing and sings along. Some of us (me and the grandkids mainly) even dance. It never fails. It's nothing we ever agreed to. It just happens.
Blew my mind when I learned how old Brenda Lee was when she recorded this.
The other two young ones that you mentioned are good but our Brenda is a LEGEND.
🌹🌹🌹 Great Song 🌹🌹🌹 Great Reaction 🌹🌹🌹
She was 16 I think when she sang 'Jump the Broomstick' which was originally sung by another Nashville Group. Jambalaya might be worth a listen too, early and later career versions available for voice progression.
I see NO ONE has mentioned a fairly well-known singer by the name of Tayna Tucker, who had a HUGE hit at 13 with Delta Dawn!!! She sounded VERY grown-up singing that song!
Thirteen seems a good age: Peggy March had recorded I Will Follow Him, her greatest hit, when she was still thirteen. Probably most of her later hits went unnoticed in the US because she had moved to Germany and mainly sung in German.

I remember her singing Schlager like Mit 17 hat man noch Träume...She lived in München from 1969 - 1981 with her husband and her daughter (born 1974)
My favorite Christmas song, and i hate Christmas songs. Love this song year round
Mind boggling. Never knew! Loved your lipsynch!
Youshould hear LeAnn Rymes "Blue". Recorded when she was 13.
I believe she is still preforming just hit number one for Roclinaround Chriwtmqw tree.
Leanne Rimes had one of those voices.
I did not know she was thirteen, Leann Rimes was also thirteen when she sang Blue.
check out her Brenda Lee - Dynamite -1957 , tiny girl with a dynamite voice, at 12!
Another young singer for you, Little Peggy March sings I will follow him.
Thank you Mike.
Super classic song. And it is definitely one of the sounds of the holidays year after year. Love her voice. 13! Who knew?!?!? 🎄🎄
Great reaction

Thank you! 🌺💖
LeAnn Rhimes is the same way. Listen to her live version of Blue
LeAnn Rimes had an old voice as a teenager also.
Leanne Rimes was 13 when she recorded "Blue"......just as adult as Brenda Lee
Maggie this song is also based in the movie home alone
Please play her version of "my coloring book. "
You should check out "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Vince Vance & The Valients. The female on the video version is not the actual singer. That would be Lisa Layne.
Great reaction. You’re right, Brenda Lee does sound older. Suggest you give a listen to “Blue” by LeAnn Rimes which was a hit in 1996. She was thirteen with the singing voice of an adult. Thanks again.
This was featured in Home Alone.
👍❤️❤️
Chech out a thirteen-year-old singing, "What's Your Mama's Child."
It's been a million years ago but as I recall she pretty much sounded the same more or less. But I could be wring that's like 50 or 60 years ago. Have a super 2024....
🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🐧
"I'm Sorry"
OMG she was the same height as me.
Home Alone - 1990
Helen shapiro was 14 when she recorded You don;t know, she has even a more mature voice. Maybe you could react to her also, great reaction btw
Judy Garland and LeAnn Rimes plus Barbra Streisand also had very mature voices at a young age. It's rare but it's called talent and they're born with it. ✌🇨🇦
maggie....you do great reactions.....but you're late......pentatonix dropped a new video..."kiss from a rose" live on vevo. you seriously really need to react to this. It is without a doubt one of their best covers.

@@maggiereneemusic very cool...can't wait
I if you want to hear another astounding mature 14yr old, check out LeAnn Rimes, "Blue". She sounds exactly like Patsy Kline.
Well, Judy G. . was only what 16 or 17 when She did the much more mature ( to me ) lead song for Wizard... a bit irrelevant but there's video of J.Baez at 18, the entire package
I never knew that, she does not sound 13
I think the best example of a mature voice at a young age was opera singer Jackie Evancho she on AGT at age 9
But you were lipsynching right off the bat. Are you sure you never heard this before?
