Kirstie’s dress is just fine- she looks incredible- as do they all. Everyone is on point in this beautiful song and Mitch just soars and takes it to another dimension!

If it was just any other pop star, Kirstin's dress wouldn't even invite comment, but because she has always seemed more on the modest side in her outfits, this dress stands out in contrast. I imagine that eventually, the sweet little girl Angelina Jordan will wear something sexier, she is getting to this age, when this happens fans are sure to go totally off the rails. But for most pop stars we just expect them to flaunt their charms, sometimes blatantly so. Personally, I find it sexier when they act sultry and sing an appropriate song in a sexy way, they don't need to shed all their clothes.

i was stunned also i saw text a bout matt and scot but i only saw kirsie she looks like a goddess. im a simple guy but her face alone is already amazing but the rest make it godlike imo ok i go to far now. lets say i love how she looks :)

Twitch is where she does her live streams and Discord will help keep you up to date as to what is going on in the Magieverse. The Prayer was an on the spot decision by a member who had sponsored a video previously covered so they needed a new one quickly. They chose well because it was a hilarious reaction.

I agree. The Prayer is very powerful!

What I notice is with Matt in the group Scott has more options to harmonize. The trio still work harmonies all the time but you see more of Kirstin singing with Mitch or Kevin while Scott and Matt sing harmony. You need to watch the behind the scenes as they are arranging it. Mitch pretends to strangle during the modulation. I don't miss Avi because it is a new sound. Avi is very happy with what he is doing now and Matt gives them more versatility.

Bingo. Avi was a more resonant and interesting Bass. But Matt and Scott can often trade roles and also close-harmonize. It echoes the capability PTX always had with Mitch and Kirstie and ultimately improved them as a group.

I feel that you couldn't help noticing Avi, even more than the way you notice Mitch, so although his voice was amazing it was prominent, and he was an intense singer anyway. He is enjoying what he is doing, and Matt is the perfect team-player addition to this wonderful group. We have bee blessed to have the two stages of Pentatonix and I'm going with the group we have now. Makes sense. They're going from strength to strength.

PTX 1.0 and PTX 2.0. Both excellent, both fun to hear, but they are different. Many bands have had members change, and adapted to a different sound.

I’m so glad that you said this. I was disappointed that a professional made that initial comment. Matt is the Bass singer now! He’s perfect for the group and Avi is no longer in the lineup! (If you can’t be with the one you love - love the one you’re with)! It truly sounded (to me), that she was dissing Matt. Avi is not coming back, Matt is not leaving and this song was perfectly delivered. They would never have been able to do that intro trick with Avi, as stated, Scott & Matt harmonise perfectly (to be fair, Matt harmonises well with all of them - I love it when he and Mitch sing together), but it was fun for them to fool us twice (Scott/Matt & Kirstin/Mitch), which they did initially do when just the EP was released. Avi and Matt are enjoying their best lives where they are right now - and so are we… I just want to go on record to say that, that wasn’t a very professional comment.

You're just discovering one of the PTX secrets -- the pairing of Kirstin/Mitch and Scott/Matt. They can imitate each other's tonality to the point where you can't tell the difference between their voices. It's a deliberate choice because they each have their own unique sound as well.

Well said. This was released as a song and then the video came along a few days later. I heard just the song first and was shocked when I watched the video. My ear caught the Kirstie/Mitch exchanges but completely missed the Scott/Matt handoff at the beginning. I was surprised because I hadn't realized that they were so similar that my ear could be fooled! Well done, Pentatonix.

Hah. It DID take her a lot of videos to figure out. At least with Mitch and Kirstie it should have always been obvious. Should we tell her that part of the integration of Matt was since they couldn't ever replace Avi's unique voice to try to instead emulate what Mitch and Kirstie do, but on the low end?

Kirstie had an issue with her mouth that she was born with that caused her smile and mouth positioning to be crooked. I cannot remember what a commenter said the issue was (maybe cleft pallet?). She had some surgery a few years ago to improve it. You need to listen to their version of The Prayer. It dropped last week. It is just jaw dropping.

Cleft palate would not be the cause. It would be more of peripheral neuropathy with a cause I don't know about. It's a non-issue for me, i.e., the mouth and the outfit. Let's all just enjoy, please.

Sextatonix has a different ring to it (PTX +Avi). I love and miss Avi's sound in PTX, but love Matt. Avi's really happy doing his solo stuff though so not likely. People like to shame Kirstin for the way she dresses. I believe she's beautiful no matter what.

I think the costuming is as such: Kirsten represents Nala; Kevin represents Simba, Mitch represents Zazu; Matt represents Timon and Scott represents Pumbaa

Kirstin looks fabulous. Anyone who has issue with her dress, hair, look......is NOT there is listen to the song. They are there to bitch about something. Kirstin is an Entertainer. It's her job to dress lavishly and draw attention. Also her smile is the cutest!!

Great review. This is one of my absolute favourites. Tbh I’m really fed of hearing people say they miss Avi. Matt has a great voice, he fits well with the group & at the end of the day Avi chose to leave. That said I love your reviews & knowledge. They killed it again & Mitch is just an angel from above. Kirstie’s smile is from a previous medical issue, she’s beautiful & her dress is absolutely fine….it’s the 21st century

It's ok to miss an old member, I miss Bon Scott's vocals in acdc but Brian Johnson is good in his own ways. Same with Matt, he's great but I do miss how Avi's voice blended with the others personally

Great review Maggie, Like you said this isn't anything you wouldn't see a woman wearing at an awards show. Kirstin is a beautiful woman and if she is comfortable with it then good for her. As for kids have you seen some of the cartoons now days.

Sure Avi is a great singer and can blow speakers, but I find Matt is a perfect fit for their newer stuff. Unfortunately, Matt will always be unfairly compared to Avi when both are terrific with their own unique style.

I think it's not a used to or anything against Matt, he has an amazing voice! But most just really loved Avi, I included, and so miss him with Pentatonix, and I think that most probably feel the same.

@@kellystrickland7412 While that may be true, If you look through the comments on PTX's main channel when they release a new video though, it's always "PTX is not the same w/o Avi..." or "They fallen off since Avi left..." and many plethora of comments similar. These types of comments strike me as they were "Avi fans" and not actually "Pentatonix-as-a-group fans" ("Mitch fans" are borderline this also.... and have been dubbed the "cult of Mitch" by bloggers, especially if he doesn't get to sing during a live performance. i.e. look at any live performance reaction of Amazing Grace where they had to cut Mitch's verse for time restrictions)

@@kellystrickland7412 people can miss him but why feel the need to bring him up on every video they do? It's really not fair to Matt or the rest of the group when Avi is the one who chose to leave. Some people are downright rude to Matt. Especially when people leave the comments on their videos or tiktoks right there for Matt to see. I can see maybe people comparing them on songs that Avi once sang on and Matt has taken his place but to constantly bring him up on the songs that Matt was always the bass just baffles me.

When she does her little sideways smirk in the official Daft Punk Medley this old boy's heart just melts.

This has become my very favorite PTX performance. The harmonies and transitions are just superb. The feel of the performance is so rich and yet so sweet. Fabulous!

Avi was (and still is) incredible, and Matt may not be Avi with his super human vocals, Matt is still his own super human with vocals, who works well with PTX, just like Avi did with them

My favorite part is just before Mitch goes off everyone else has a sort of secret smile, because they know what is fixing to happen.

The 5 part harmony 🤯🤯

Avi Kaplan is an awesome singer, but he walked away of his own free will - whatever the reasons. I like Matt Sallee right where he is, and yes, he does get really low, too.

Kevin did kill that breakdown but Matt coming right underneath him with that bass note is just so satisfying

I can't wait to watch your reaction to The Prayer, if only for your notes on the arrangement. It manages to be both quintessential Pentatonix brilliance, but in a rather different style of arrangement from most of their other covers. You'll get there. And I'll be here for it when you do. :)

This is a truly great rendition and the insight you bring always makes it more interesting and I love the different t directions you point me towards which makes me notice things I would have missed. If you think about it,, it makes sense that they have a similar tamber since Scott covers the baseline when the designated bass has a vocal lead.

As promised, for me this is one of their best ones. I like their arrangement.

This was an amazing cover. I would love to see them do a cover of the movie's version of the song as well.

Yeah, Scott is a beast! His range is crazy! He actually takes over the bass when the bass sings alot. Kirstie's dress is fine by me. A little more revealing then what she normally does, but, come on! No wardrobe malfunctions, no see thru aspect, just fine by me too. Kirstie's smile might be indicative of a medical condition. It is a completely regular part of her smile. Never got confirmation of it. Also, none of my business. Thanks for another great reaction! 🦁😁😁😎

I think I read that each one is dressed as a Lion King character. 1 - Scott and Matt: Timon and Pumbaa 2 - Kirstie and Kevin: Sarabi and Mufasa 3 - Mitch: Zazu

The different characters represented, as you were told in chat is called Disney Bounding - Dressing up Disney without the Costume. A lot of people do it when they go to Disney theme parks!

Avi 🙄 Maybe listen to what Matt is doing because it is spectacular! Avi chose to move on. I wish everyone else would also.

My god yes. I'm so tired of how this community is at times... it's been nearly half a decade and they still won't either leave and go to Avi's channel, or just stop comparing the two.

Same! Jez, move on! I’ve just stopped clicking on those who keep doing the comparison. Fine for them, I just don’t want to hear it. At this point it feels disrespectful to the group as they are now.

@@MidoriDad thank you! It's one thing to praise Avi or say you miss him when watching a video with him. Although for me that becomes annoying after a while also. But to do it during a Matt video you are discounting what he has brought to the band and it's disrespectful.

wow...you are right..I never noticed that before, but they are VERY similar in this one.

When I first saw this, I thought 'WoW!' Kirstie is freaking amazing looking. Each is wearing a unique style that is both eclectic and fits the song and vibe perfectly. I have no problem with women showing cleavage either; those who get upset need to go lay down. Also, her lips are fabulous.

As a french guy, I can tell you that Kirstin's outfit is absolutely (gorgeous) not a problem, even for a TV show. Love them, their covers, their voices, and...Kirstin is a Muse

I'm not sure if you know, but Kristie was born with a cleft lip and that may contribute to her side smile

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Kirstin's half-smile is because of a scar on her lip. It was around the time that "Radioactive" with Lindsey Stirling came out (it is very evident in that video as well). That could be just a Mandella effect on my part though because I can't find any reference to it now.

Matt may have only had a small solo part in this song, but it's my favorite. As a MASSIVE Elton fan, I think his voice was actually the best suited to this song.

And as someone Kirstie's age (I think she's like 6 months younger than me?) who is also well-endowed by my creator with certain assets, it absolutely pisses me off to have people constantly commenting on her body. She is a whole person. She doesn't exist to visually please people.

Was sooooo beautiful.... well played with Elton John’s best song for the live action movie of “the lion king” 💘

Avi does have his own stuff on his channel. He didn't just disappear. In fact, just today (November Tenth), he dropped a teaser for something new. :)

If you want to really freak out, check out some of their LIVE performances. They literally sound the same, only differing being in an auditorium vs a studio.

Kevin beat boxing skills is insane. Got Mitch slapped again.

Yes, I'll admit, when I saw this Pentatonix video for the first time, I DID notice Kirstie and 'The Girls' - but my reaction was more "hey, you go girl!" than clutching my pearls and getting offended. To the people who did/do get offended by it... you do realise that's why you got given eyes AND a brain right? Just use the latter to figure out you can avert the former, if you really don't wanna see that kind of thing - and best of all, everyone else you know has the power to do that too, so you don't even need to 'protect' them from it either! Aren't humans amazing?

The controversial aspect of this in regard to Kirstin in this video is that she was known for never showing anything of the upper body, which she does here. What is the big deal? She is not that cute little high school Kirstie anymore. She is a grown woman and a beautiful one. But she still dresses less provocatively than many another KZread female singer.

This is one of my favorites of theirs; everyone has such strong points through the song. I think Matt's bass lines are more flexible, this bass line was amazing the switches and runs. However whoever said it Avi's bass shook the earths core.

I really think Matt was great in this one. I mean they’re all always amazing but still 😊 Have you reacted to “You’re a mean one Mr Grinch” It really shows off Matt. I’m actually a major Avi fan but if he hadn’t left the group we wouldn’t have Matt or Avi’s amazing solo music.❤️❤️ I love your reactions ❤️

My wife and her family introduced me to PTX via audio. First song i heard was Hallelujah. I thought it was pretty good. I finally got around to watching the video and when Mitch’s verse came my literal response was “Holy sh*t, thats him!?” I just thought Kirsty had 2 verses in the song. The Mitch-slap is real.

They did a great job with this one, though I agree that Avi would have been amazing in this also. The first few times I listened to it, I really had a hard time telling who was singing what until I watched the video. After that, I could pick up who was doing what because I had a little bit of extra help. Also, I'm stoked that you are doing The Prayer tomorrow. The first time I listened to it (after picking my jaw up off the floor), I thought that you would love it. Reminder set so that I can watch it live!

The video you used of them singing cuts out on our end while watching - copyright something or another. But it comes back after a moment. Mitch’s voice is pure heaven. Love PTX soooo much. They are the perfect blend and each voice is pure gold. I think Matt has filled Avi’s shoes well. We all miss Avi and love him but I really love what Matt brings in. 🦁 🥳🥰

🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁 love the fact that you've introduced me to bands and music styles that I normally wouldn't listen to that being said I still get irritated by people who make snap judgements without doing their homework

By the way PTX did another Queen cover Somebody to love OMG they are so good

Kevin and Kirstie are supposed to represent Simba and Nala; Scott and Matt = Timon and Pumbaa; Mitch is supposed to represent Zazu. Their outfits were so well thought out for this and I don’t see anything wrong with Kirstie’s dress either

Maggie, they’re dressed up as the characters from The Lion King. Matt and Scott as Timon and Pumbaa, Kirsten and Kevin as Nala and Simba, and Mitch as Zazu.

This is Kisty. Absolutely her.

I heard Scott affectionately call what Kirstie does with her mouth “side mouth” a long time ago, and I can’t remember where I heard this info, but someone said at some point that Kirstie has some nerve damage from some sort of oral surgery for something like cleft palate or something when she was a child, so she doesn’t have full control of her mouth. Don’t quote me, though.

I really loved Kirstie's half smile. I think she had some lip injections to minimize that because so many commented on it. This is a fabulous cover!

People worried about her dress being low cut haven’t seen enough opera or theatre in general

I love Kirstin's outfit in this one more than all the other. Was hoping she lower it a little more. However, I can see why it's a problem for little kids and why it's not necessary 'cause she got great talent.
