That’s the dream Steve, motion rigg! Enjoy
I think another solution would be to put a vive tracker or controller on the cockpit/seat, because there is also software to then subtract the tracker/controller movement from the head movement to do the compensation. In theory this should be more accurate than putting a box on the right measuring it on its own. I also heard of some motion cockpits coming with compensation like the "SimRig" one. Unfortunately not able to try all that yet but maybe some day I have the space
Just got my WitMotion. It's a must, a pain to setup each time you launch - but well worth it.
Hi Steve great video, my Next level G3 has software compensation for free works great but personally prefer full harness .Strapped in feels more like real head movement when in VR tried both . Like you flown real, many hours on a Yak 52.

I’m using OpenVR motion compensation. Came with my Edge6D motion platform. One of my ReverbG2 controllers, strapped to my rig, is being used as movement sensor. Nothing to buy. Works. Bit of a hassle to get it going every sim session but it works.
Hi Steve, how were you able to setup the axis of the motion sensor in a right way? In the Varjo Base its quite difficult as you dont really see the axis..

Hi Steve - any chance of showing how you have tied your Haptic seat into the Sim Racing Studio programme - although I have the Switch set to Auto on the Haptic area in the Set Up it doesn't pick My HF-8 up?
Hello. Thanks for video.I also have the Pimax Crystal + Motion System. I have tested OpenXr Compensation, but I currently have an issue. The tracking works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I think it tracks a fixed point on my setup (for example, my screen attached to the setup) at times, and other times it tracks the walls next to me (indicating movement). Do you have any issues on your side? Is the tracking perfect all the time? Do you need to reset it, or does it not deactivate?
And here's me thinking Motion Compensation was Varjo sending me some money for their Aero making me feel sick!! LOL But seriously, another great video mate! Flight Simming, and VR in particular, are reaching new heights almost monthly nowadays...Who would have thought that we would be at this level only a couple of years ago! Awesome...Thanks!

Haha thanks mate, I totally agree, to think you can experience this level of Immersion in the comfort of your own home now it's truly mind blowing.
It seems like an electronic replacement for a dome thats mounted to the platform and moves with it. The idea is for the VR headset to use a the dome for locating it in space, which moves with the motion rig. So the ghetto method would be mount some poles on the chair that you could mount an opaque curtain with a good pattern for the headset to locate to. The device is the better solution.
i instaaled motion compensation and in sim racing studios its not showing its checked off that it is installed please do a setup guide like you said you could do in the video

We’re you able to get the motion compensation working for MSFS 2020? I can only get it to work on DCS via steam VR and for some reason can’t run MSFS 2020 in steam VR.
Wondering if you've managed to get motion compensation AND pimax eye tracking working together in dcs? And steam I can get one or the other working, but not both at the same time. Outside of steam in dcs I can get eye tracking working but not motion compensation, with pimax crystal.
Does it affect vibrations? I mean I want the vibrations of my head and the visuals to match, otherwise it may cause eye strain since the brain adjusts the vision for those vibrations.
Can you still lean forward and to the sides to look at the instruments closer with the motion compensation is on ?
Steve do you know if this will work with other motion simulators other than the SRS motion controlled systems? I understand that you have to use there software to use the motion compensation but I have a SFX-100 DIY motion rig and I ordered the Wit device and cable and then I realized that you are using SRS for your motion as well.

From testing a few different solution can agree that the witmotion and SRS software works the best especially if you also do sim racing. FI recently fitted a active harness (cheaper DIY version) and was surprised how great it also works for flight sims for simulating G forces better then any motion rig, can totally recommend for using with a motion sim, or even just by itself in a stationary rig.

It's me again Steve, great vid as always. You really are a lifesaver for the community. I really think that any company making those motion rigs should integrate a censor as part of the motion rig. People should not have to go looking for one from a third party. They obviously know that motion compensation is a problem and really should be honest about how realistic their rigs are without one, not just for flight sims but driving sims too. To be honest I don't think it is a motion rig without some kind of motion compensation. Just out of curiosity did DOF have any imput into your choice of how to deal with the motion instability problem?

That’s pretty handy. Though perfect compensation isn’t very realistic, is it? Can you adjust the compensation such that it does feel like you’re slammed around in the cockpit? Eg full compensation on the x axis so you don’t disappear in the seat, but lateral motion compensation on 80%, so you get some motion? Other question: what are you using for your motion rig?

You're correct in assuming seated height is recommended to be set to 1. It's working quite good for steve because the didn't adjust the center or rotation (cor) in oxrmc. That means it ends up directly at his headset while it should be under his seat. That gets partially compensated by the seated height at 1000mm because SRS adds values for surge and sway based on seated height and pitch and roll respectively (basically surge = tan(pitch angle) * seated height and sway = tan(roll angle) * seated height. I'd recommend properly setting the cor in oxrmc instead to get compensation on heave axis (caused by pitch and/or roll) as well. TLDR: It works reasonably well as displayed for a H2 because it's center of rotation is pretty much exactly at about 1m below the hmd. For small deflection angles you wouldn't really feel any difference but for larger angles you don't get compensation for the difference in height (which you do when the cor is set in oxrmc correctly).
Yes, please do a setup guide… I just can’t make it work!!!

I was noticing that Asetto Corsa wasn't providing as much accelleration as i'd like compared to other games, even with the slider maxed out, so I played around with the telemetry values and ended up lowering them to increase the range of motion. It's a bit complicated, but the Sim Racing Studio forums have some recommended values for most supported games.
Please make a setup video
Is this working with Pico4? I cant get it to work
Looks very good Steve, how much is the subscription? Also is it possible to get the motion rig in the UK yet?

@@123thedman1 yes you have to pay duty, they do declare the item cheaper so you do not pay 20% of purchase price.

@Simon Perry I wasn't aware of that, I need to check. I think I had to pay about £185 to release from FedEx
Does it with work with Quest2?
I suppose if you have a motion rig, more cost isn't an issue.
Could you make a setup guide to motion comp. pls? That would be awesome. I am very new to motion sim (gonna setup my H3 tomorrow). Where to put the witmotionsensor? Under the seat? On the Headset? Lovely greetings from germany.

You did. There is a picture for a few seconds. I am sorry, I didnt see that the first time. Thank you VERY much for your answer.@@VRFlightSimGuy
Your videos are so helpful but I so wish you’d do a full settings tutorial for maximizing the performance of pmdg and fenix. Those are the true fps/performance hogs.

Yeah sorry Brett, I'm not generally an airliner guy so I don't really want to be spending a lot of money on these aircraft just for the odd performance video.
You made me just order the "Dof Reality P3 with ButtKicker mount & Honeycomb mount " - "GT Omega RS6 Racing Seat + Seat Sliders" - "WT901C-232 9-Axis Vibration Inclinometer" - "WitMotion USB to RS232 UART Converter Cable" all through the links on this you tube page, I already have a "buttKicker" which is better than just a stationary seat, Just need to upgrade from the HP reverb g2 :) im taking my PPL's and passed last (ninth) exam today but still have the practical to do. With regards to Motion Compensation and headsets that use base stations, couldnt you just mount the base station to the Dof Reality rig? i also noticed on the latest video you are using the Aero, was the Crystal just a loan or does this state you prefer the Aero?

What is really the difference between the H2 and H3, 2 deg of movement from 3 deg, is 3 dof worth it for racing or flight, just asking cause the price is like $1k more.

I was told 20 degrees of yaw in each direction. H3 was recommended from someone who has used motion rigs for over 10 years. I guess $$$ is the question..

I was told it was best to get the H3 and so I did, in all honesty though having got the H3, you only need the H2 for flight sim, I get nothing from the yaw axis. Even taxiing around the airport now is a completely different experience, never mind being in the air. You actually feel as though you are "in" something and moving and not sat at a chair in the kitchen so to speak 😅
