59201-206 are all in the Freightliner Tango or Jaffa livery and retain the original nameplates which is nice. A Freightliner version is due next year but annoyingly they are using the same running number as this db schenker one 59206,how stupid, so will have two numbered 59206.Will be compelled to renumber and rename the Freightliner one. Initially when Freightliner took over db they were running around in all over Red with the db branding removed. An excellent review from you, enjoyed and thanks for sharing, cheers Nick.

I thought 59201 and 205 were still red but I could be wrong. It is annoying dapol have announced 206 again in the freightliner orange. I’ve preordered one. If they don’t change the running number by the time the model comes out I’ll likely renumber my DB one. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. All the best to you 👍

Enjoyed your review. I initially ordered all four sound versions from Dapol and prior to payment cancelled the DB version. What a big mistake that was. Tried to reinstate my order a few days later, when I received my order, but too late. I have no problems with the motors and have still to try out the smoke on the NP loco. I believe two other colour schemes will become available and will be ordering them for my collection.

Great review I enjoyed it, I've never owned a Dapol locomotive I will have to purchase one in the future. Merry Christmas and happy new year.

great review, there was a big mix up with mine and my supplier thought he had an order for the sound fitted models with smoke unit and i had on pre order when i went to pick up it turned out he just got sent the dcc and smoke fitted versions, if id of nown now i wouldnt have bothered with the smoke version and just ordered the sound fitted version direct from dapol, as soon as we realised it wasnt sound fitted all trace of the 59s were gone from the dapol website apart from a new pre order page that gave very little info on how the smoke and sound might work, the smoke cant be controlled by your controller either and has to be turned on or of manually by removing the body, otherwise its a great model and sound fitted does seem good value for money, i look forward to seeing more of your vids. I have two of the old Hornby/Lima 66s TTS sound fitted and with some front end detailing, at a distance, they look pretty good, had nothing falling off and run well...feel these models are just a bit too detailed for their own good now and if you do exhibitions, as I do, nightmare, braking bits off left right and centre..😢

The old Hornby/Lima 59s definitely do the job. With some basic weathering and detailing as you’ve done they can be made to look very presentable. I don’t have any Lima ones myself but I do have 4 Hornby ones. 2 are just fitted with regular decoders, one is DCC fitted with lights and the other one is sound fitted with lights. Also added the buffer beam details to 3 of them as there’s one I need to have couplings on both ends as I have to double head them on my largest aggregates train. As old and as basic as they are they are still good models. I personally wouldn’t go as far to say models are getting too detailed although I do agree they are very fragile. There’s nothing wrong with having lots of detail as long as it’s designed and built to be sturdy. I’ve done a couple of exhibitions myself with my own stock and so far never had any problems with bits falling off in transit.

I do enjoy your review’s just watch the HST ones too. I’m still waiting on my 59 hopefully it will be here in the next day or too. I went with the DB one with the smoke unit. Have a good xmas fella.

I got mine other day and ran it in for an hr yesterday motor noise was very loud at first but after it ran in quietened down to be very silent

I may try giving mine a quick oil to see if it helps. The motor noise isn’t too annoying as the DCC sound distorts it out mostly

@@fyfieldjunction if you have accurascale HYA wagons take out the hook and chain coupling from the details pack and it fits in perfectly to the 59 front end

Looks a good model, however the sound is disappointing, they way different functioning sounds suddenly cut out like the air for example, a 59 is on the cards bit I think I may end up going aftermarket sound

I personally love the factory sound. The way I played some of the functions may have made them not come across in the best of lights. At the end of the dad we all have our own views and opinions

I got a smoke and sound one from hattons for £201. In the power livery.

Might be worth taking the body off cause I had the same box as you but mine had a smoke generator in it

Email Dapol and they’ll email you a sound function sheet. I never had one either

I am so glad I’ve not bought one of those. It looks very cheap sounds crap and looks very plastic
