FILM DESCRIPTION:Thor: Love and Thunder is a 2022 American superhero film based on Marvel Comics featuring the character Thor, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the sequel to Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and the 29th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Taika Waititi, who co-wrote the script with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, and stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor alongside Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi, Russell Crowe, and Natalie Portman. Feel like this scene is a perfect analogy for how Thor: Love and Thunder is viewed by the rest of the MCU. You've got the Guardians doing their job, being serious, trying their hardest, and in comes Thor (Taika) treating it like a holiday, doing whatever the heck he wants, and the initial excitement to see him in action is replaced by eye-rolls and face-palms when he carelessly brings the whole structure crumbling down cuz he's more concerned with having fun.

While I agree his ego is kinda much and doesn’t make sense especially after Ragnarok, he is stronger than all the Guardians combined.

The Guardians are silly clowns. They're fighting a group of crows on speeders and apparently losing. The movie was fun. What did you want? Seriously. He laid the down the marker that the film was going to be silly. That's what Ragnorak was. You guys are just piling on now that some people have decided to call curtains on Marvel who they never liked because most films suck and people would rather watch these.

@@brucetheinsultcollie Idk, this film wasn't fun to me. I feel like Ragnarok took itself alot more seriously and the progression through scenes felt natural, when a joke was made it was earned for the most part. This film felt like it didn't have much direction besides using as many environments as possible to provide fuel for silly slapstick jokes. They somehow made Thor's charecter unbearably irritating to watch with the ceaseless showboating and cheesy grinning. I mean don't get me wrong he has always had that ridiculous lack of self-awareness in the previous films. But by now I totally expected him to (while still being very confident about his own abilities) be a far more humble charecter and was very disappointed to see him apparently be even more cocky and boy-ish than in Thor (2011). You can say that it was advertised to be a whimsical fun film but I just don't think it should have been in the first place. More because they are using a charecter (Gorr) who everyone anticipated would really drive this element of dread and fear into the film but reallt just ended up being another throwaway villain.

@@brucetheinsultcollie Idk where you are getting your information but I love action movies when its taken seriously, you can have comedy but you have to time it right, Captain America the winter soldier is a perfect example of a perfect balance of action and comedy, it knew when to be relaxed and when to take it seriously. That's what you don't understand.

I still can’t wrap my head around it. What was going through Taika’s head when he thought that replacing the Guardians in this film with an army of kids using toys as weapons was a good idea? The only reason I can come up with myself is maybe James Gunn didn’t want Thor in Vol 3 so he couldn’t steal the spotlight there.

If the movie was better, this really fun He-Man feeling opening scene would end in maybe one of the guardians getting seriously hurt cuz of Thors stupid showboating. Kicking off what should’ve been the main conflict of the film, Thor has forgotten what it means to be a god, and Gorr is insulted by his existence and is trying to kill him Then the Realm of Gods scene would be there to show Thor that he’s acting just as pathetically as the rest of these gods, just a bunch of self righteous assholes who don’t take anything seriously like Zeus. And Jane being there now has a purpose, cuz she remembers when Thor started off as a self absorbed prick and became an actual hero. And she’s disappointed that he’s essentially fallen back to his old ways. A perfect place to drop the “There must always be a Thor…” line like from her comic. It’d be a real jaw dropping sad moment to know Jane only became worthy enough to become Lady Thor cuz she’s more worthy than him, cuz she remembers how a good Thor used too act. It’s like if your ex took your job cuz your too much of a depressed adrenaline junky to do it right. That’s motivation that this new Thor desperately needs cuz he didn’t have squat in L&T…

If you consider how much loss thor has experiencd in the past yrs.... by the end of ENDGAME we saw glimpses of his self healing, In this film he's fully rebuilt himself emotionally & physically... If would be unrealistic if he still was the same Shakespearean oaf from the first film, (although i dislike the film a bit) it was a natural progression for the character/s.

It’s nothing to do with being out of power. In this arc he is a hero without a purpose and is primarily used as a tool to help win battles since that’s all he can really do but after years of being with the guardians fighting on endless missions across the cosmos with all that emptiness inside it pretty much made him not really care much about anything anymore. Throughout the film though he begins to regain his care and find a better purpose as well as open up himself to love again to fill the void and be the proper hero others need him to be. You can see the difference where here in this opening he’s rather careless but by the end with his newfound “daughter” you can see he’s more caring and even goes as far as to tell her which ones needed to be protected and which ones to fight.

no he is not the ''same'' guy. thats the whole point. before he sees his mother again in endgame thor use to consider himsel as someone who not suppose to be like everybody else, someone who has to be able to handle everything. but now at the first act of this movie he is less interested about heroic stuff on his way to figure who he is if he is not a god who can handle everything, and he closed his heart to people. also thor was always super relax around the battlefields. he showed this in thor 2 with sif and in infinity war with cap.
