Holy shit this comment is so accurate. Joe was as excited as a little kid to shoot the deer reminds me of my 8yr old nephew begging me to shoot button bucks LOL. Its ok though it is a right of passage EVERY hunter experiences. Ground shrinkage is what we call it, when you walk up to it and now that its on the ground you realize you just shot a baby.

14:20 is so true. The majority of hunting is the excitement of waking up early, battling the weather, waiting and being quiet, spotting one, then ultimately hoping it gets broad side for the hit.

100% respect for Steve and the production team. Love the discussion on land management. 10% respect for Joe. 10 for his ability to ask introspective questions, 0 for his lack of integrity. This is evident by him taking a 4 pt (~5 or less hours after first light) on someone else’s land, whose aim was to take out doe.
BIG congratulations to both Joe and Bryan! 💪🏼💪🏼 One of my favorite videos from you guys to date. Bryan’s remark, “that’s a weird way to shake hands” had me 💀. Would have been cool to see you both (Steve and Doug) waking them through the field dressing. I had the directions saved on my phone and used that for my first deer 😂 To the first of many you two 🍻 Had to come back and edit. Sorry about the misspelling bub. 👍🏼
Great episode! Both my boys got their first whitetail deer this year. One got a buck and the other a doe. The one that got the doe was more excited! It’s not always about the size of the headgear. Just like Steve said, if that deer makes you excited, take it!
The episodes of Meat Eater with Joe Rogan are great. They’re always some of my favorite episodes. Seems like it would be such a strange friendship between Steve and Joe with them coming from such different upbringing’s and different lifestyles but then when you see them hang out on here or on Rogans podcast, you see they just click together. The episodes are great!
Joe and Brian hunting in their stands with the other two. Seeing how excited they are. Remind me of when I was 12 years old in a stand with my dad for the first time getting ready to shoot my first buck and how exciting it was. Something I'll never forget.

@@MichaelJohnson-pw8kk Joe started hunting in 2012....so how was he introduced to it in 2014?? Lol
It is neat. Hearing JR going from I have a goal of living off game meat. To how he talks about meat now. I wonder if there is a video of his first elk hunt? Also still impatiently waiting for the second half of season nine on Netflix.
