I looked at the departure board while waiting for the train today morning and I was like "something is odd"... Only then I realised Keon Park is back on the list of stops!

Very interesting station and also definitely A Very Hot Topic about the residents that lived very close to the train station

I think to be fair the Government will buy back any of the apartments that were bought before the plans were announced so hopefully those residents can take that option if they don't want to deal with the train station.

I actually think the government handled it quite well. I live in the area and even before that complex was built (which was only maybe 5 years ago), there were a lot of rumours about that crossing going soon and about how it had to be a skyrail as underground wasn't feasible, so they should've known it was happening sooner or later. Even knowing this the government has still offered to buy them back, so the owners really have nothing to complain about - if you don't like it, take the buy back and then buy another apartment that isn't built on a rail line.

While waiting for your train, you can play table tennis with the residents. Their balcony is the net.

Those residents in the apartment block are not happy. Complaints about the noise from announcements, trains and lighting..That is why the news crew was there. Interesting to see what happens.

I live nearby , those units started about 2017 and were completed roughly 2021. Delayed during lockdown.. Railway started last year. Those people really have been screwed. Their value of unit would be divided by 2, and it's impractical to stay there with noise and lighting.

News crew never cared about Coburg, Moreland, Rosanna skyrails also all very close to residential buildings. And I strongly doubt the nosie is significantly more given the apartment was already right next to the train line.

Keon Park Station has been scheduled to be a skyrail station for years, they should have done some research before buying.

6:01 "not sure what exactly what was said". The report was about the locals in those apartments that you mentioned earlier in the video, they are complaining about privacy, noise etc as the station is now so close to them, when it was nowhere as close previously.

I still remember use Keon park before its closure, I took some videos and pics, I also took a pic of one of the old signalling lights, which was the tracks for the Mernda service but it was on the traffic lights side so I believe it haven't been 100% used

The new stations are great but I dont know why they persist with the plastic buttons that make up the orange and yellow tactile line on the platforms. Within just a couple of years half of them will be broken and end up on the tracks. There are stainless steel ones at some stations but they need a better solution.

I don't drive a car, so living right near a train station would be ideal for someone like me. I'm probably in the minority with that though, it's probably noisy but tbh that's the trade-off with living near public transport.

I used to live about 100 metres away from a railway line years ago. The worst thing was the regular train horns. Especially at 4:30am. The sound of freight trains got old quickly too, but at least back then they only ran during the day. Living right next to a station might be convenient but in addition to the sound of trains there can often be extra noise from the PA system. Also a lot of light pollution, and even noisy passengers on the platforms. Even living 5 minutes walk away makes a big difference to how peaceful it is.

All the information on futue works should be available from level crossing removal project. A second lift is planned, PSO office, shared user paths in the forecourt, 44,000 plants for landscaping, and final sealing of station footprint, plus other ammenities.

you said it looked bland on the platform and colourful on the groundside. In the early days one of the objections was that the groundside would become unappealing and attract rubbish and riff-raff. Attention was given to pretty things up and add amenities such as seats and ball game courts and so on. Imagine if this was done in the ‘70s with bland concrete with rubbish blowing around. See how it goes. Canterbury looks bland with concrete carpark below. That was to remove the ground level crossing at Canterbury Road, there were probably steep grades. The grade separation was finished in 1968. The newsagent in Maling Rd used to display the old station photos, not sure if it still does.
