Hi, are there exam centres in Scotland or will I have 2 go 2 England ? Were there any tutorial based assessments in your BSc Degree where there are no exams ? I feel that tutorial based assessments takes away from the exam experience & makes it a lesser degree...😢

I'm thinking about doing a Maths&Statistics part-time degree at the OU. Do you have an estimate on how many hours per week I would need to study for my degree as Im working full-time.

I finished my first year in Mathematics, which has the same modules you will study (M140 + MST124 + MST125 + choice), so let me answer this by saying it depends on your background. I had studied electrical engineering before and worked since as a software developer so most of the material of the first year was familiar to me. As full time student (120 credits/year), I was spending about an hour to review the material the weekend before the tutorial, a couple of hours in the tutorial itself, and around two hours for computer-marked, while four hours for human-marked assignments. So for me it was 6 hours per week for all four courses, but this is because I knew most of the material already. If the modules' content is new to you, expect that amount of time only for one 30 credit module, maybe more. The exam prep I did for MST124 was me trying a recent past paper timing how many questions I answered correctly first without even opening the handbook and then time again how many I answered from those left after consulting the handbook. Because I did pretty well on that, I just tried a few more exercises for the few mistakes I did. I expect something similar for the MST125 exam in September. The M140 had an electronic test which took me almost 4 hours to complete and human-marked one which I completing in two 4 hour sessions all over one weekend.
