I played violin from 6th grade through 12th. I was even first chair in high school. After graduation, I rarely picked it up. Fast-forward 30 years through marriage, kids, career, etc., now, sadly, I can't even remember how to read the music. My fingers can still play certain songs but by their memory only, if that makes sense. I'm ready to re-learn. This is a great beginner instructional. I'm hoping I can regain what I've lost quickly as I realize how much I miss playing.

Chris, I want to see what your bow hand does withyour fingers, wrist and all. My wrist is so stiff I cannot get that loose look when coming towards the frog and going up to the tip and coming down from the top again. I have a rigid stiff hand with 4 fingers while the thumb holds on to its place as the bow wants to fall to the ground.

Long bow strokes are so critical for practice. I tried practicing Jitterbug Waltz with a bunch of short strokes on my 5 string, then increased the length until now it’s just 2. It didn’t start sounding good until then.
