Eternity is simultaneous with the instantaneous. Nobody is going to an infinite heaven or hell. The Universe is inherently just and righteous, or virtuous, therefore we have a reason to pursue virtue independent of a belief in God...because the degree to which we don't is the degree to which we suffer. We must commit to living the contemplative life so that we can converge to the eternal processes of nature - to embody them increasingly over time. It has nothing to do with believing in a death and resurrection...it's that you do it yourself. Furthermore, there need not be rectification for what is perceived to be evil because the existence of the Universe hinges upon the interplay of opposites, or active and reactive forces. So to condemn this undesirable opposing force (evil) is to undermine and criticize what is necessary for its existence, and therefore our own. Theists need non-theists equivalently.

I'm glad to hear fellow Christians willing to call this out. I love Mr. Peterson. He helped me work out a major mental break down by helping me understanding it better. So I will always hold him near and dear. But once he started cozying up to the scriptures I've been so nervous. I can't even bring myself to watch anything he does that speaks on it, because I know it would be to upsetting. Not giving Christ the honor, trying to separate the real power of God and reducing the scriptures to just metaphors. Then all these other Christian channels were doing videos all happy about his biblical endeavors, that's when it got dangerous! So having people tag him to put him to task is important because those that don't know the scriptures can see these videos and hopefully get the real info they need to come to a saving knowledge of salvation.

That’s all well and good but when I was stumbling through my early understanding and sometimes got caught up in heresy I didn’t have millions of followers that I dragged with me into my error. It’s great that Jordan Peterson is interested in God and if that starts conversations in the not yet believing community that brings God glory that’s great. But he doesn’t fit the biblical standards for an elder so he should spend his time learning the scriptures rather than presenting himself as an authority on it.

@@martidiamond7109 i agree with your comment, somewhat… History shows us that Jesus didn't leave us a bible, the apostles didn't tell us which books belong in the bible, the church fathers never agreed on the 27 books of the NT through the 4th century, not only did they not agree but their list of would-be NT canons were GROWING during this time. So, if it wasn't the Catholic/Orthodox church that compiled the 27 books of the NT in the 5th century with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and preserved it by laboriously hand copying them over and over throughout the centuries before the invention of the printing press, the “rule of faith” for many, please tell us, show us, who did? @S Rich The Holy Spirit can, I firmly believe has, used men and institutions whose doctrines were not necessarily totally correct. Consider today. God, at least in my estimation, works through Catholics, Baptists, Pentecostals, Orthodox, Presbyterian and so forth, regarding them all as being among the Christian brethren. But that doesn't mean, for instance, that the fullness of the faith or perfect doctrine resides within the Baptist church. I believe that the Holy Spirit worked within the church that existed at the time to bring the canon into view. But we shouldn't jump to the conclusion from that this means the Holy Spirit endorsed every teaching or belief of that church.

@Yesica1993 he never claimed to be an authority. He says that in his genesis series. He also says he approached the Bible from a psychological and philosophical view point. I used to be into philosophy even a bit of stoicism ironically. Paul dealt with them in acts chapter 17 verse 16. Now I just read and listen to my Bible as much as I can. I haven't finished yet but I endeavor to make time everyday for GODS word. Should Christians be going to Jordan to hear the word of God, I would say no. However I see no harm in his lectures.

I commented on a JPs video on the so called evidences for the existence of God. Very well said pastor Mat!!! Jordan Peterson is certainly an important voice in today's crazy culture, and he speaks clearly about many issues. However, I have always found him to stumble and be limited in his understanding of the Bible, though he does glean the many principles illustrated in the Word of God. I share your concern, and that being principally that of the state of his eternal soul and that of his fans'/listeners'. I pray the Lord to bring him to the cross of Christ to repent of sin and to confess Jesus Christ as the Savior and as God incarnate, the only mediator between God and man. May the Holy Spirit of God move Jordan to see and to assent and to believe by faith. I hope this video does reach Jordan Peterson and that he listens and takes notes and that the Lord uses it to bring him into His household of believers.

I made it half way through this. It’s basically a very well spoken and well meaning pastor picking the splinter out of someone else’s eye. God is ultimately in control and if JPs teachings lead intelectuales and atheist a round about way to him then he is accomplishing his mission. Not everyone is comforted solely by the message of love and Jesus. Church leaders too often take the Max Lucado approach filling their congregation with a positive feel good message. When they do address the horrors of the world around us it’s often followed by a keep your eyes on heaven approach, this is a fallen world and the fallen can have it because Jesus wins in the end. Where then is the message to work to make a better world? Where is the calling out of sin in society and corruption within our social leadership? Where is the push to create better leaders and communities organized by the good people of the church? I am of the belief that when Christ wants to reveal himself to someone there isn’t anything that will stop it. So if JP is holding the door open for others and never enters himself that is between him and God and he needs to make no Maoist public announcements to appease those who are not his judge in the afterlife.

In teaching the bible, there has to be a balance of preaching the gospel, calling out sin, calling for repentance, and looking for the appearance of Christ-which we are clearly told to do. It's easy to get off into a ditch, and out of balance. It takes a lot of prayer, and being honest with yourself and God, to stay in God's will and on course by the Holy Spirit. Most people on media platforms-are in a ditch, but aren't able to see themselves. Also to be noted, few, if any have a bible in front of them, while they are teaching other's.

Jesus often explains the meanings to His disciples. Yes, the Bible has parables and some passages speak in allegorical ways. If you were a Christian & also watched Peterson’s lectures, you would understand why the Babylon Bee said what they said. I’m not sure why the condescending tone is needed. God does not suspend the laws of physics, etc. God feeds new information into nature to work miracles. I agree with many of your points and I thought you delivered the message with class and integrity (mostly). At times you came across a tad nit picky and preachy, but I also think some of the things were good to put out there. And I think Jordan Peterson would take it all in if it ever gets to him. And I, like you, think Jordan Peterson is an amazing intellect. He gets people thinking, talking, challenging, and questioning and that is always a good thing!

How many “teachers of the Law” have abused the people and/or made them believe that we are unable to understand the Bible without their help? I actually love that DJP is talking about the Bible because he is introducing the Bible to the masses without fear. People are leaving the church because we are tired of being “taught” by some few “special and superior” people who look down at us and claim to have some sort of privileged right to spread the Word. The Bible says, “where two or more gather, there I am.” GOD talks directly to the people through the Holy Spirit. We do not need special intermediaries. If the religious “teachers” had done a good job at teaching spiritual principles in the past, the world would of be in the state it’s in.

I have been a fan of Dr. Peterson for some time now, and like many, he has helped me through some hard times, breaking down insecurities and hurdles in my own life. What I see in this video is a rejection of the lesson of take out the log in your own eye, and then you will be able to take out the spec in your brother's eye. I have listened to hours and hours of DJP's works and read all three of his published works, and to my recollection, I don't think he has once proclaimed himself a teacher or even and authority on the Bible. As far as I can tell, he has been upfront with the fact that he is learning and growing as much from his discussions as we are (the people watch his content). DJP seems to me to be filling a roll of creating a bridge for a secular person to learn about the truths of the Bible in a free and voluntary manner and under which many have found and are findings there way to or back to Jesus Christ (I know I did). It is through the sparking of voluntary interest and curiosity that God brings all people back to him and to rob people of that chance because a person does not want people to talk about (because he has not claimed he is teacher of the bible) the Bible and wrestle with topic in it is a tragedy and shame. We should all pray that the fruits that DJP's life as well as all our lives be sweet and pleasing to God. In the end, God is the only truly sovereign being, and all things work for the Glory of God. I hope you have a wonderful day and that God bless you.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. ~ 2 Tim 3:16. Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. ~ 2 Tim 4:2. I believe Pastor Matthew Everhard is doing just that.

I like Jordan, his path has made him aware of the multiple problems our society is facing, and he is not afraid of dealing with them; he is even outraged that more is not being done about them. But, whatever human wisdom someone has, it will always fail to deal with those problems properly. For this to be done, the wisdom of God is needed. But again, for the time being, the wisdom of God in the world is used among the believers, not to make a better world, but to navigate lovingly in a fallen world so that many will come to repentance. A better world will come in steps and only through God's intervention. Man will never make a better world no matter how bright or powerful he may become. Jordan has to come to the realization that no amount of brain power can make him right with God or put the world on the right track. If the following is true for a believer in regard to spiritual gifts, it is also true for an unbeliever regarding natural gifts. One must always be thankful to God since He is the creator and sustainer of all things. 1 Corinthians 4:7 "What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?" Jordan has an interpretation of Abel's and Cain's sacrifices, but what he does not understand is that it is not so much a story of sacrifice as one of obedience versus disobedience, repentance versus pride. As long as Jordan holds to his understanding of this story instead of learning from God, he will remain in Cain's clan. Psalm 51:16-17 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart- These, O God, You will not despise.

Thank you for this video! I'm not a big Jordan Peterson fan, but I do respect him for his courageous stand on some issues and for his efforts to help young people find their way in life, stand up to "Woke" madness, etc. However, about a year ago I was very excited to watch his series on the Bible, but ended up being hugely disappointed. Not only did he seem to have uncritically accepted the current academic view of the Bible-including such ephemeral theories as the Documentary Hypothesis, but his entire presentation treated the Bible entirely as myth and not as scripture. Yeah, I get that "myth" is an elastic term that doesn't necessarily equate to being untrue-especially when it comes to texts that are foundational to a civilization or a society. In the end, I guess what really gnawed at me was that he was analyzing the Bible from a perspective of lack of faith instead of faith. That wasn't what I was looking for, so I stopped watching after the first lecture. Good riddance...so thank you for confirming the feelings that I had and for adding much more. Concluding that it would be a much better use of my time to listen to other lectures and courses online that are thought by believing and Reformed Christians was a easy one, so thank you for confirming that as well.

From what I've heard from him over the last couple years is that he does believes the bible in some way but he lacks an understanding of the salvific atonement of Christ. Everything I've heard him say is some sort of philosophical metaphorical understanding of Christ's death in that He was an example of dying for what you believe in and as an example to seek the good of others. I remember him making some sort of comment about it not really mattering if He really rose from the dead or if it was just a metaphor that either way it doesn't really matter. I am paraphrasing of course and if anyone else knows what im talking about concerning what I said please feel free to jump in and give more detail or if im incorrect in something please bring correction. Jordan Peterson seems like a really likeanle guy and brilliant as all get out, but I'm very concerned for his soul and have not heard him articulate rightfully what Jesus accomplished on the cross and what it means to be saved. He seems to have an worldy definition of salvation in bettering mankind. Lets all pray for him.

Great video. I thought the same recently reflecting on JP’s “Biblical theology”. He allegorizes in the extreme without really focusing on salvation through Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I love JP, I really do and he has benefitted me a lot in the psychological realm. Just like Matt, I agree he is one of the great thinkers of our age. BUT he is not professing Christianity. More like a New Age / Christ Consciousness perspective. Like a less wild Russell Brand (and I love Russell too, he’s such a kind soul). Again just clearly not Christian thinkers to any degree.

(I had to trancsribe this myself from the audio because captions were not on. I do this for work, so it should be accurate.) About 4:30 Jonathan Pageau speaking. "And some of the church fathers, they explicitly talk about this as being the manner in which Christians or believers can incorporate things from strange lands. That (they?) can incorporate Greek thinking or even some poetry from other cultures or from your own ancient culture. That you can spoil the Egyptians. That it is possible to bring some things in, if it's done [JP interjects] bring riches in from the past and from other cultures, as long as it's done in the proper order. What on earth is he talking about? This passage is about God's deliverance of His people and His judgment on the Egyptians. It has nothing to do with incorporating anything from anywhere.

It's not wise to dictate to the Holy Spirit how He is allowed to work in and through someone's life. It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, and the glory of princes to search it out. Jordan Peterson is on that journey of discovery, and clearly wants to share that with others. God will honour him for that - and God is at work through that. I implore you to retract your call for him to stop doing this.

"Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven." - Undying gratitude and respect for Jordan Peterson, the only thing that grates sometimes are his responses to the question "Do you believe in God" - "It's complicated, what do you mean by believe, what do you mean by God and I don't like being categorised in that kind of way etc...." Well, sure, a life with God, conversion and a pathway with Christ day by day is an extremely profound thing and yet, and yet, it's simple and clear enough for a child to understand. Especially the "I don't want to be put in a box or be categorised in that way" is the worst response because, yes, we do have to clearly identify ourselves as followers of Christ, unequivocally. I'm so glad that my own Father, back in the early 1950s, made that very clear step, after a gospel service at a local chapel, to step over the line and clearly identify himself as someone who wanted to leave his former life and start again as a follower of Christ.

There were comments that the information he was sharing was so great. Bbut it was wrong and people who don’t know the bible were easily misled. I took the time to call him out on his incorrect interpretation and suggested he first turn his life over to Jesus. Then start studying the bible in earnest. Next he needed to pray about what God would have him do with his life. It was a rather long comment and I hope he saw it and isn’t too proud to take it to heart and act on it. I believe he was discussing marriage.

Thank you for this - it badly needed to be said. Jordan Peterson says many, many good things. And his obvious compassion for his hearers puts me as a pastor to shame. But reading him and listening to him is frustrating because he is so close to the truth and so far away at the same time. That is because he is in theological terms a Pelagian. So in "12 Rules for Life" p57, he says that the story of the Bible after the fall, and the moral history of mankind, "culminating in the Messiah", is "all part of humanities attempt, God willing, to set itself right". And p109 that the Sermon on the Mount "is the attempt of the Spirit of Mankind to transform the understanding of ethics from the initial, necessary Thou Shalt Not of the child and Ten Commandments into the fully articulated vision of the true individual. This is the expression not merely of admirable self-control and self-mastery but of the fundamental desire to set the world right". He talks about the idea that salvation cannot be obtained through works as "strange" (p186). I can't track down all the quotes, but there is somewhere where he says that the centre of Jesus' teaching is that we must build the Kingdom of God ourselves. Certainly he says that it is down to the individual to establish the Kingdom on earth by imitation of Christ's sacrifice (p184). Someone who thinks these things is a long way from the Kingdom.
