Maths is a wonderful subject! The key to learning maths is mastering the basics before you move on higher up. Most folk get intimated by maths simply because they don't master foundation topics which more advance levels rely on. Vicky Neale has a very charismatic way of talking about maths.

Hey Vicky. I'm pretty good with logic (research design etc), but sadly didn't pursue advanced maths at school. I've seen some of your public lectures (e.g. LMS) and your joyful energy is infectious. I get my maths from public lectures, "In Our Time" and a couple of Open University maths courses I did. But if I had half your energy and enthusiasm, I'd be a happy man. I think of pure maths as equivalent to a language. Keep making vids. 👍🏻

Getting up to a 7 is easy with little to no revision. 8 requires some slowing down and more thinking to pick up marks, and 9 requires you to be a able to understmand every question and even if you dont conpletely answer the question at least getting half the marks (basically the last 2 questions)

@@ceres4478 nah, a 9 in GCSE Maths should be ez for anyone considering Maths at COWI (Cambridge/Oxford/Warwick/Imperial). I never touched my textbook, I just did the occasional past questions, and I did one of my papers in less than half the time and spent the rest of it going over my revision for my other exam that day in my head, and in the end I lost 4 marks out of 240, one or two of which were dumb mistakes I realised as soon as I left the exam hall. Currently in year 2 of Maths and Further Maths A level and have the MAT in a month, and I actually have to put effort into the MAT and certain parts of Further, especially the MAT which I am legitimately anxious about. And there are people in my classes who are definitely better at certain areas of maths than me, and I’ve never done anything past the Senior Maths Challenge (while many others applying for COWI will also have done the BMO etc)
