AMAZING STEP BY STEP I used this for my WE TECH GBB SCAR-L. If anybody else has this, yes, it is the same construction except the chamber is bolted into the guide and has thread locker on all the screws. Don't mind the thread locker, just get the pieces all off of the guide but leave the spring in, only undo the pin to install the NPAS. This will let you keep the back of the spring in on the SCAR (its completely shut off and the spring length is uneven) and slide the black chamber back and re-pin the spring without needing needle nose pliers or any guesswork.

Very rare that I'm impressed enough to comment on a YT video, but I have to say this is a perfect instructional vid, top job. Clear instructions and walkthrough, proper terminology, and most importantly with something smaller and fiddly like this, in focus shooting throughout! Thanks very much for taking the time!

I purchased from ASGC here in NZ. It was NZ$100, and is a standard upgrade part from WE. It's not steel, just alloy but is still pretty heavy and feels great. I'd never put that other old plastic piece of rubbish back on. The other benefit with it is that it's sturdy as anything, and once it's attached and tightened it won't budge at all, making the weapon feel very robust.

Yes that's the RA-Tech one. It functions awesomely and I've had no problems with it at all! haven't even needed to change my spring, even though it's winter here in New Zealand and in outdoor games it's cold as hell... (well, that doesn't make sense since hell is hot, but... you get the idea). Remember, upgrade one piece to steel and you really have to do the lot, if you want your weapon to last/perform well in the long run.

Hi there, thanks for the comment. Outer barrel is aluminium, or alloy of some sort, the same as the body. I am guessing it would be too expensive to make one out of steel, not to mention the increase in weight - causing increased freight costs. Most airsoft stores who supply WE upgrades or modifications (brands such as RA-Tech) should supply one. I don't think it's compatible with other makes of M4.

No problem. Average NZ temp in winter... well it really depends on where you are. If you are up in the north of the North Island, near Auckland, it can sometimes get into the low single digits (Celcius), but in the south Island it will get to sometime -10 C or lower. Ahh the hop up chamber. Well, since no aftermarket supplier (eg, RATech) that I know of supplied steel hop up chambers, you have to keep an eye on that. Continual impact of the much harder steel bolt carrier can deform it slightly

I don't have an NPAS, but I have a general question regarding the floating valve/bulb inside the nozzle. I sanded down 2 teeth in the nozzle which hold the floating bulb in place (WE/WELL AK74 GBBR). Now the air inlet ratio is far in favor of the barrel instead of the bolt. I did this to maximize FPS. There is still some little space left for the gas to enter the rear of the nozzle for the blowback action to occur. But now I am getting cycling problems. The gun fires ok first 15 rounds then starts shooting bursts on semi. Having taken the lid off, I can see that in these cases the bolt doesn't travel all the way back to set the hammer, but rather bounces against the hammer several times, causing the bursts. So can the floating valve inlet ratio cause cycling issues?

Did you have to mod the nozzle any for the NPAS to work? My friend have an open bolt HK416 and think modding is needed to the nozzle internals for the NPAS to work.

No. The WE Scar has a different bolt and bolt carrier. However I assume the principles will be the same, being the same make.

I suggest stripping the weapon down and filing away deformed material on the hop up chamber before it completely grows into the top housing.

I dont know if you still read comments, or if anyone can help me out. I bought a WE Xm177 a few weeks ago. Alongside one of these Npas kits for WE open bolts. I have a little trouble trying to adjust my fps to go more low. And I'm really frustrated and a little scared because I hope I just didn't spend my money on something that wont work. If you or someone can help me, it would be great

Very helpful in terms of disassembly and reassembly, but you never addressed the mechanism of the NPAS. How does one adjust it up or down in fps? I'm reticent to just throw a new one into my gun without knowing what it's set at or how to use it's primary function.

Yes- the energy of the BB is related to the square of the BB's velocity. The formula for kinetic energy is: E=0.5mv^2. (half*mass*velocity squared). So, if the BB velocity decreases, so does its energy. Further, because of the square proportion, if its velocity was reduced by half, (say 300-150fps), the energy would be reduced by 3/4 (say 1 joule to 0.25 joules). I love when I can do physics and airsoft at the same time..
