    Very apt comment by the Little Platoon at around 39:00. Tolkien was at The Somme and took part in the assault on the Schwaben Redoubt. That is some serious life-experience, and I have no doubt that the appalling images he will have seen influenced his descriptions of Mordor.

    Something that struck me in the rings of power was Nori’s speech to Not Sam about how she was meant to find the man on the crater. In the Two Towers, we can see Frodo turning to corruption when he tells Sam this task is mine, my own. Nori’s starting point in which she is convinced that she’s the chosen one is Frodo’s turn toward corruption. Prime is such a joke that it thinks this is somehow empowerment for females when in LotR the same attitude becomes the downfall of the protagonist

It was the first day when the sun appeared above the earth and when it first came it rose from the west, and as the noldo made their first footfalls upon middle earth flowers, for the first time, were blooming beneath their feet. The part about She-Hulk that boggles my fragile mind is: How did it get past quality control. Okay, there must have been some red flags or questions marks at the conception stage and someone glossed over it. That happens. Then the scripts came out. No one said "That is not how law works". And given the inconsistencies, no one went over the completed scripts to check for that. Okay... that... can happen to. But then actors and relevant crew members receive the scripts, none of them raise their hand and say "I have a ... multiverse ... of mad questions", no one panic drunk-dials their agent and points out that this could damage their careers. Well... oka-yyyyyy Stupidity happens. But then some episodes got shot... and no one says "well THAT is crappy." and orders a healthy dose of re-shoots?hise popint Disney either assumes their audience is stupid, low-taste and worth no effort worth mentioning... or they have reached critical to terminal incompetence.

    Amazon said it themselves _when races come together_ Yes. That is all great. The issue i personally noticed with the show is confusion. Confusion because race and the color of someone's skin is because of where they as a people grew up regionally over many, many generations. The timeline in Rings of Power tells the story of a young Earth. I imagine a darker skinned elf grew up in an entirely different region than others, but that is not the case. Everyone is already mixed together. So there is no story of _races coming together_ If they want a world where we don't see skin color for the actual reasons why they exist. That is kinda cool Write a story about that and create your own universe. To take something as old as Tolkien's work Make drastic changes like that, and don't even bother to give a proper explanation. That is what makes it confusing.

  • @ZillaTheTegu

    @ZillaTheTegu

    The other thing they got wrong about it, is when in LotR the 'races come together', it means Elves, Humans, Dwarfs, Halflings, and so on. Literally different races, and nothing to do with skin color.

As you are sharing your reason not to, I will share one of the reasons I respect her: she was friends with one of my great uncles, Freddy Aalbæk, a professional singer who fled Denmark during the war as he was involved with the Danish resistance. They became good friends. He passed away watching her birthday actually. And he was a very good judge of character. Reason he did not fancy Hitler, as he used to say "a man not of his word" (refering to the fact that Hitler had this penchant for betrayal) or "oath breaker". Freddy was a classical Monarchist, may they all rest in peace.
