Ойын-сауық
Open All Hours
Season Two, Episode One - 1 Mar. 1981
Nurse Gladys feels sorry for Granville, struggling to do the laundry by hand, and suggests to Arkwright that he buys a washing-machine. Arkwright wants to keep the affections of Gladys but does not want to spend too much money, so he makes sure she sees a brand new machine being delivered - which is then taken away and replaced by an elderly second hand one. Exposure follows.

This Show never gets old. Watched it a Thousand times. Never fails to Brighten my Mood. It's Perfect.
This is genuine comedy. No swearing, spitting or insults. Actor lead so well written. Puts the so called comedy today to total shame. R.I.P Ronnie, you were a true genius.
My mum had a twin tub that me n my brother could ride ‘round the kitchen when it was on spin 😊
Sunday nights, after bath time before bed for school the next day. Good times and a classic show
Love Ronnie Barker and David Jason. Nurse Gladys is a real treat too , very attractive lady ❤️
Sutton's Seeds. I've grown those in the States. I'm Dutch and come from fantastic gardeners. But I really respect the Britts. They for sure have the best comedy and scrumpy. I remember the Two Ronnies from back in the day. Just thought I'd share.
I love the likes of open all hours, only fools, and porridge. Timeless comedy and not remotely vulgar.

@versacegang4140
6 жыл бұрын
Billy Hawkins There are not really that many "small outback towns" as you think , there are a number but they are tiny with a few hundred or like Broken Hill a few thousand. Most people in Australia are concentrated around the east and Southern coast and not many people live in the central areas at all. In remote areas or western areas past the Great Dividing Range and in Western NSW, such as tiny townships near Broken Hill - Silverton, Willcannia etc or Cootamundra, Junee, Young that are more central NSW and slightly more populated but still relatively isolated, but not as much as the former area, you can get houses relatively cheap (150-300k AUD) or even cheaper in South Australia for similar areas. In the latter you can pick up houses for 50-200k depending on size and style as these remote towns are remote and don't have much access to services or things to do. Victoria is similar but it is mostly Alpine/snowy and forested so not as hot and remote and is more populated in areas. Along coastal areas, especially the east coast it is more expensive, popular and densly populated with houses on average around 300-400k excluding beachside towns which are usually 500-800k depending on size. Tasmania is cheaper as well as it is isolated (being an island) and freezing and rainy most of the year round not really getting above 27 degrees but is gaining popularity as it has great scenery (very English think green rolling fields, hawthorn edged paddocks and georgian pubs), history and food. Western Australia only really has a few towns on the coast that are very expensive because of mining there and the wealth it brings and it is mostly desert.

Arkwright is often making vulgar innuendos about sex, especially when his "double entendres" insinuate that Granville's mum was promiscuous,
Everything Ronnie Barker does he was brilliant in Clarence porridge magnificent Evans Going straight he was just a comic genius and a very funny man RIP Ronnie Barker
Amazing actors. Incredible that David Jason was just over ten years younger than Ronnie. They really go to town with their roles of cantankerous uncle and dreaming nephew ☺️
Much better when Barbara Flynn delivers the milk 😍

Nick Stringer, who played Neville in this episode, later made two separate appearances on Only Fools and Horses. First playing Australian man who buys faulty car from Del and Rodney in Episode Go West Young Man and secondly and more famously as Jambo Mills in episode Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?
That's Nick Stringer who also played Jumbo Mills in Only Fools and Horses!!! 🙂
Interesting to hear the brush gag near the beginning 0:36. I assume this must be before the famous Trigger's broom gag in Only Fools & Horses?

I just realized this- at 9:47, you can see Ronnie wearing his own wedding ring. Of course, he has every right to wear it on set, but it does make it rather funny to see Arkwright asking Gladys to come back to his bedroom while wearing a wedding ring.

I'm watching series 1 and 2 and he seems to have the ring on a lot, not sure if it's his actual wedding ring but regardless it doesn't bother me because some people do wear rings on that finger. I have a friend who wears a metal band on his wedding finger but he's not married. Just likes the ring. I took it that Arkwright wears his father's wedding ring as he's a permanent bachelor and he likes the ring. Knowing him though, it's just a piece of worthless metal from a washing machine or smth and he likes to pretend it's real lol.

I like how nothing is ever rung up. Reminds me of when in the 1970s I worked for 2 guys that owned a mom and pop store. Each would steal from the other. The morning guy would clear the till out at 9:00 am after being open an hour or so and the other owner cleared the till about 8:00 pm an hour before closing and pocket the money rang up after that till closing. Me and the boss's son ate , drank beer and boones farm wine all day, then when I was about 16 we started smoking , all on the house. We would entertain girls after closing. I can't complain about my youth working in the grocery business.
David Jason, when he returned to play Granville in series 2 of Open All Hours, secretly wore a hairpiece on the back of his head to conceal a bald spot. Jason confirmed this in his autobiography released in 2013.

I noticed in the first series he had a prominent bald spot and it was filmed several times. I was surprised as that was pre - del boy and we never saw it in the early series. Funny enough he was meant to play a 19 year old in this, but they later changed it to 26 years old. But in reality he was 36 years old for series 1.
