A mate from me have parked a year long without locking it because his lock didn’t work(Opel Astra H). A workshop did not have time for it and was expensive. So we removed his side panel to look to the system self and everything seems to connected. In the main time i saw that his radio did keep also on when the key was removed, and youtube recommended this video and with luck it was the problem! Only the plastic part was game over, it did move but not with the key. So i removed the plastic part and everything worked again as normal. Thanks you very much for making this video!

Excellent Excellent Excellent Excellent Excellent Video. My 2008 Zafira B had an intermittent remote fault that sometimes works, but sometimes did not. I have checked and found a similar fault indicator shown by the lack of the curtsy light when key is removed from the barrel, which strongly suggests, that the problem lies with the key barrel and the white pin as has been shown in your video. I used the magic formula of WD40. I did not remove the key barrel, instead I sprayed WD40 into key hole, and rotated key several times and then spayed some more. This solved the problem. hello I am interested to know the details how did you apply WD40 into the keyhole ? If I understood correctly you sprayed directly into the key hole without disassembling of all parts or removing entire the key barrel from the steering wheel, is this the procedure that you followed ? I have same problem in my Opel Astra 1.7 Cdti year 2008 and I will really appreciate if you can share your practice with details how did you fix this problem with applying WD40 into keyhole and after that did you reprogram the code or it was not necessary, after that did central locking worked properly ? I remain in hope for your reply

Excellent video. I checked the fuses which were fine. I’d no idea what to check next! I thought I might as well give this a go. I had to remove the white bit, but everything now works as it should. Thank you.

Car wouldn't lock with key. Even when I locked the drivers door manually with key, central locking didn't kick in so other doors and boot still unlocked. When I opened the drivers door, the warning alarm sounded that door was not shut...and as you said no light! So I did as you suggested and removed the little white thing in the ignition switch (as the WD40 trick didn't release it) and bingo, central locking works with key!! thank you so much!!

Dar dacă decupez bateria mașinii și o cuplez iar, cheia funcționează, dar până când închid mașina cu cheia și doresc sa o deschid iar peste câteva minute (ex 10 min), nu mai funcționează apoi sa deschid.

OMG!!!! As simple as that! I’m just about to try this on my Astra Twintop and see if this works! I have Keyless Entry and Start and for the last couple of weeks, the central locking has worked fine, but I couldn’t start the car as the steering lock wouldn’t release! Now, the steering lock does release and the car starts, BUT, now it won’t lock! I recon it could be this same issue! I shall try and report back!

Ok, report back……this sadly doesn’t work on the keyless entry system, as the steering lock is totally different 😢 I did notice though, how the interior light does come on when I open the door, so I must have another issue stopping the locking from working! Please let me know if you know the answer or anyone else, if you can help me please!

Hi Pal After Watching your video we Had the same problem with a 2007 Vauxhall Astra We Remove the white piece of plastic out of the ignition barrel and how central looking working thank you.

I have same problem with my Opel Astra H 1.7 cdti , is it possible to fix the problem without removing entire set of the key barrel from the steering wheel as you have shown in the video because I don't have the skills to do it and in stead to spray it directly with WD40 into key hole and rotated key several times, would this help ??? is it be possible to do it straight away just spay it inside the key hole, please advise because I am afraid that I can cause bigger problem key immobilizer since it is also software issue with the CIM(command interface module)

Hi I have a Vectra c, the manual door lock doesn't work with the key, when I try to rotate the key in the lock it doesn't move - only a few mm left right, and the central lock sometimes works sometimes doesn't. Now I can't open my car what to do?
