Opal cutting: The dream goes on.
G’day everyone, I hope you’re all well! In this video we’ll be slicing up and cutting a stunning piece of opal. We carved this piece from the rough in a previous video, and now we’ll be taking a look inside the stone, this will remove any cracks/flaws leaving some of the best opal I’ve seen in person. Let me know what you think in the comments, what would you have done if you owned this piece? I hope you enjoy, thanks for your time. 🤪👍

Absolutely incredible Phil. The depth of the colers is unbelievable. I could stare at those all day.
Theses stones are glorious and mesmerizing... Thanks for sharing with us. I could stare at them all day!
Love it when you just keep breaking it down. Absolutely beautiful cut. Another great video. Thank you Phil.
Stunning opal you have done a fantastic job getting the best out of the stone and revealing more vibrant colours.
the fire in those stones is amazing, nice work mate.
Great vid Phil, loved watching you examine the stone and deciding where to slice, its a great process to watch! It's so hard to do opal justice with a camera Thanks for sharing Phil!

should see it in real life, video and camera do not come anywhere near what it looks like, full electric colours, even in extremely low light,
Fantastic results Phil. Yes the phone camera, our eyes see in 3D
Beautiful work dear Phil, such lovely colors! 👋💎👍
Very nice colour. Love the wild pet skink!.
Wow! Beautiful material! Great job with the slicing, you definitely got the best out of it. Well done :)
Really appreciate all the precise details, you're an expert from your own experience 🎉😊
Excellent work Phil....amazing
great work mate very nice stones and you getting the most out of it by slicing it up
That is certainly making the most of it, Well done mate Awesome results
An amazing stone. Your work is beautiful. You are a true professional.
AWESOME COLORS. Thanks so much for sharing.
beautiful gems you have cut there phil great job man.
Wow, that's a cutters dream stone,
Nice! Your opal has stunning color. Dealing with cracks can cause tremendous anxiety! However, you made some lovely gems with your off cuts. My best cut opals are solid Andamooka, white and crystal. I have a 1+ ct white cushion cut with broad flash, brightness of 5. Love body tone of Andamooka “white” opal!
Amazing thanks Phil
Amazing color. Great stones, and many more to come.
i fully understand the difficulty of trying to capture the color seen in person with a camera! stones such as those might need to require payment for the cut & polish as well as payment to let them go back to the owner! curious, can one prevent a crack in opal from getting worse by drilling a small hole at both ends of it like one can with a crack in the windshield of a vehicle? also, i have to mention that i enjoy watching KU men's basketball (University of Kansas...UK is University of Kentucky, just sayin'). this year the season started with 4 definite starters while trying different players for the 5th. they've settled in by having a freshman from Melbourne be that 5th regular starter. his name is Johnny Furphy! i'm not kidding! that really is his name. true story! 🍻 ✌️🐝➕

G’day Bones, I’m not sure about the crack solution with opal, but I’m sure the same logic applies to opal. 🤪👍
Love this video! Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
Excellent work --- excellent opal! You did a great job of getting the most out of the pieces that you had to cut off. Did you say where this came from (I'll guess Coober Pedy). Loved this video! dp

Andamooka opal, Don. 🤪👍
I love!
Gorgeous stuff Phil
Nice
Could you shoot it with a reflex camera, or do your last frames in low light give a true representation of the colors? I want to enjoy the colors as they are. You gave such a great teaser on them with your words.

It’s really hard to describe, but even the low light didn’t do them justice. In hand, the fire/play of colour has so much more going on. Other than the digital aspect misrepresenting, I think it comes down to the camera having only one focal point, and how that only picks up a single view point, whereas our eyes gain a 3D perspective due to having two focal points. 🤪👍
Stunning material, flawless finished stones Phil always a delight to watch u work i am interested to know is that Coober , andamooka or Brazilian crystal??? ..

@@GOLD_FEVER yes it was a very good find, we mine in andamooka south australia, we have been very lucky in finding all types and grades of opal, to be completely honest, the initial reaction is your heart feels like it stops, and massive dread feeling rolls over you lol, then as you dig it out fear rushes in on you, then once you have it out and you see whats left of the blobs, relief floods in booting out the dread and fear replacing that with extreme high lol, you literally start laughing and crying at the same time. its heart stopping stuff finding any pocket of opal, with gold its a set value, with opal the value changes dramatically, im known as opal joe you can check us out on outback opal hunters we are called the misfits lol, because we dont drink and we dont take drugs.

Take the saturation down on the camera while filming to show the colors
Where does that opal come from. Is it Brazilian?

G’day mate, this is opal from the Andamooka field in South Australia, located roughly 30km east of Roxby downs/Olympic dam. 🤪👍
I had opal Crack on me a year after cutting. It could be unstable stable

this was part of large pocket we dug out, 398 troy ounces, 1982 lol, the only fractures cracks we have seen in it is where we hit blobs with jackhammer, we only have about 80 ounces left of the original opal, most of the bigger blobs went to japan private buyers, then rest of sales went to dubai.
